@Shwingbada ohmygoodness you could be totally describing me.

When my marriage broke down the huge wordy texts I sent are mortifying now. I needed to get them off my chest and they were never responded too and that felt worse.

When I feel like that now I write it in my notes app. I get it out of the way there.

Glad you managed to delete it though - Phew

Well I'm meeting MrG in an hour. And as usual I am lying in bed on here 🤦‍♀️

Best of luck with Mr G. The mothership will be waiting for an update!

Shwingbada · 29/11/2022 10:19

Mortifying is the word!😳

Hope you have a lovely date with MrG. Sounds like you are a fellow brinkman, too, with the lying in bed till the very last minute!

Shwingbada · 29/11/2022 10:21

That’s a useful insight (if slightly worrying!). Thanks @Justatoe2
I will check out that insta page.

Shwingbada · 29/11/2022 10:29

@Eeksteek it may not surprise people that my instinct would absolutely be to do what you are thinking, and send a message to Mr 2pugs. Sadly, it seems that my judgment is totally out when it comes to these things, however! I am sorry to hear that it hasn’t amounted to anything; it seemed so promising and I would find it difficult to give up on. Hope you are not feeling too dismal about it.

5thWisdom · 29/11/2022 12:20

Now he's saying that he's looking forward to meeting me and having a drink or two. He's either testing me or I've jumped to conclusions that he just wants sex! Ha!

Thisisworsethananticpated · 29/11/2022 12:53

5thWisdom

Mila14 · 29/11/2022 13:44

Deffy, is Mr B the young hot guy? What’s the story with this one? Which one is your front runner now?

Mila14 · 29/11/2022 13:57

ibelieveinmirrorballs · 29/11/2022 08:37

@Eeksteek how long were you seeing Mr2Pugs for and how did it end? I would be careful about getting in touch because even the best case scenario is unlikely to lead to happiness long term.. even if you rouse in him some sense of regret and he suggests meeting again, it’s hardly the bounding enthusiasm you need to keep a connection going and I think you’d be left slightly anxious knowing that you had to slightly “lure” him back. In a way that’s a worse prospect than him ignoring or being rude, as it would be prolonging the pain.

@Shwingbada I’m sorry this is still such a painful exchange between the two of you. I think @Thisisworsethananticpated is right in that he’s sent a clear message and I would agree with him that texts are not good for resolving these differences. What seems so obvious to us (“it’s just a bit of reassurance I need, why is that so hard?!”) feels very different to someone not wired that way. I’m not sure if it’s avoidance but he does sound triggered by feeling “manipulated” into reacting a certain way. I say this with no judgment as I am very similar to you.

Can you soothe yourself by writing out some thoughts about things you want to articulate when you see him, and be very honest about what you need from a partner? I don’t think it works to squash our needs down for fear of being needy or too much, but it could also be that he doesn’t want or us not able to give you what you need.

My emotionally unavailable MrM called last night after a week’s standoff where I refused to cave, and we had a good if slightly frustrating chat. MrN is back this weekend and I’m stepping back a bit from my need to add rollercoaster-chaos by wanting MrM adventures as well. I also think we need a face to face honest chat and am not sure when that’s going to be possible.

Enjoy Mr Nice …you love him and he loves you. You can decide to go a notch further with him but that would mean dropping MrM
I know how difficult these things are. Im full circle with MrEx after dating for 8 months! But I love him and he loves me so I feel I need to give it a second chance

Thisisworsethananticpated · 29/11/2022 14:08

Mila14

i wish you the best with Mr Ex second time around

you’ve really tried VERY hard to meet others (industrial level dating!!! ) and hes
clearly always been the front runner

and I think with boundaries in place ? And you know alot more about this than say in early 2022

No MrB is the hottie that's been silent since Friday night 🙄

Well, we met, he looked like his pictures which is always good but he was shorter than I thought but hey

We had two coffees and talked constantly and debated a bit too.

So, I said I have to go for the parking so he walked me to the car. I bit the bullet and said I'd like to see you again. He looked really pleased. We had a hug and then an almost kiss because I was going for his other cheek 😂

So, yes, first date with a much younger guy (10 years) and it was great. I think it'll be a slow burner but I really enjoyed it.

He messaged me to say that he'd meant to say how lovely I looked and what a good looking woman I am 😳😳 and, for the first time, I said thank you. Not oh no I'm not. It felt good. So yes.

Shwingbada · 29/11/2022 14:39

Sounds wonderful @Definitelycross and well done for taking the compliment!

Thank you darling Worsy… my heart was never in it really. And i was still seeing MrEx for posh dinners and movies…and well…we DTD several times although we would refrain other on account of none of us wanting to be FWB…so we were “friends” but fancied the pants of each other and had all the kissing and heavy petting possible before getting naked and just DTD. Fact. So who were we kidding… it is early days so I'm not 100% in this though

5thWisdom · 29/11/2022 15:13

@Definitelycross what a lovely first date! Wonderful news! And lovely follow up message afterwards! Did you fancy him? How big was the spork?!

Mila14 · 29/11/2022 15:14

Deffy…marvelous news…I think you needed this and feeling lovely and admired. You don't sound very taken with him though…second date yay?
Try MrB and send him a message…you never know!

Definitelycross · 29/11/2022 15:19

As the date went in and we relaxed more I definitely did fancy him. But I'm not rushing headlong because I've been burnt like that before.

MrB I think is in it for the ego boost 🙄

Mila14 · 29/11/2022 15:34

Oh Deffy…MrB must be hos royal hotness bit he is in a dating app/website…he is looking for “something” or “someone” and he picked chatting with you. SO, you are HOT TOO 😘

Oh you're very kind.

We sparked a fair bit but yeah obviously not enough for him to pursue 🤷‍♀️

This sounds like a lovely first date! And well done for taking the compliment 👏🏻 we’re usually the first ones to put ourselves down but enjoy it!

I need some advice on a pithy polite sentence
to send to a single dad neighbour who’s been sniffing around

weirdly more texts etc since I told him I was dating (and kind of with someone) which I find a bit weird ? Like he knows I’m on the market for sex ?

I’ve been ignoring his texts but as neighbours and his DC knows mine that feels rude ?

or maybe not say anything ? But it’s kind of annoying me now

Agree, don't interact or engage. Ignore.

So Mr Boxer messaged at around 3pm (we were due to meet at 6pm) to say that he's in hospital having scans so would be late. I replied that I understand and his health is priority.

Then at 5pm to say, with apologies, he's not going to make it this evening and hopes we can meet again at some point soon.

I replied, no probs. With a smiley face. And left it at that.

I'm going to archive the chat and forget about him.

Next.

Man this is tough! Glad I didn't traipse out in the dark and freezing night to be stood up though!

Mila14 · 29/11/2022 17:43

@5thWisdom … N E X T! Forget this guy completely. He will be back if he has no other date for a Friday or whatever
