Partner wants me to cash in my pensions so he can stop work ??

My partner wants me to cash in my pensions, so that he can stop working. He has no pension provision and I have a couple, having paid in since I started work at 16 (I'm nearly 60). We are not married - he says if I cash in my pensions, then he'll marry me. We have joint savings, but he won't let me touch them. Instead, he wants my pension money to enable him to retire, marry me .............. is that right?

Christ on a 3 wheeler bike where did you find this CF?
Get your savings and get rid ASAP!!!

RoseLemon · 22/11/2022 10:16

Don't cash in your pension to enable this cocklodger.

And do not marry him.

Emmamoo89 · 22/11/2022 10:17

Put him in the bin and run!

Wombat27A · 22/11/2022 10:18

Let's hypothesise about what could happen here.

You cash in your pensions, the money is transferred into the joint savings & then he decides he's not getting married. He then "retires" alone somewhere, like that ad with the jetski for pension scammers.

Please go see the free pension advice people, I'm sure they'd be horrified.

antipodeancanary · 22/11/2022 10:18

Hahaha!

TheFormidableMrsC · 22/11/2022 10:19

Are you seriously asking this question? Run run run and don't look back 🚩🚩🚩🚩

TitsInAbsentia · 22/11/2022 10:19

a) don't cash in your pensions (what will you live on?)
b) DON'T MARRY HIM, EVER, EVER!

Goldbar · 22/11/2022 10:19

Please don't do this. It won't end well.

This is EXACTLY what he will do

Brokendaughter · 22/11/2022 10:25

I don't care if you love him & think he's perfect.

He wouldn't have asked you to do that if he loved you.

Run for the hills (& take your pensions with you)

butterfliedtwo · 22/11/2022 10:25

My god, the fact that you have to ask. Run away so very fast from this chancer. Seriously. Tell him to fuck off with that nonsense.

NadjaCravensworth · 22/11/2022 10:26

So what do you get out of this?

You have obviously posted to get responses to show him that he is on fucking glue and should be leaving?

Fancylike · 22/11/2022 10:26

Echoing every other commenter, that he’s preparing to scam you out of your pension.

Please immediately go to the bank and withdraw/move your contributed portion of the joint account - if there’s anything left there. I suspect he won’t “allow” you access because it’s all gone.

lifeinthehills · 22/11/2022 09:55

Hell no.

^ This - with bells on.

Charlieiscool · 22/11/2022 10:27

Don’t be ridiculous. He’ll marry you if you hand over all your assets? What a prize he is. Honestly you can’t be serious. I suppose you own your home and he’s looking forward to being a cocklodger too? Why would anyone agree to this?

SchrodingersKettle · 22/11/2022 10:28

Why on earth would you marry him?

How can he stop you accessing the joint savings - does the account require two signatures to make a withdrawal? What kind of savings and what amount? Do you keep an eye on the balance.. are you sure he hasnt already taken it?

Take your half . Do not for goodness sake cash in your pension.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 22/11/2022 10:30

He’s a scammer.

Littlepiggiesinblankets · 22/11/2022 10:30

He is financially abusive, but you are not married and still have time to save yourself - run, run, run, run.

As someone said, get advice from Women's Aid on how to get your savings and get out.

Soproudoflionesses · 22/11/2022 10:30

The second word would be off

loislovesstewie · 22/11/2022 10:31

Do not cash in your pension, do not marry him. You will end up with no money and will be financing his life. Run away from him please.

blacksax · 22/11/2022 10:31

How old is he? Is he saying that in his entire working life he has never worked for any employer that had an employee pension scheme he could join?

Waystation · 22/11/2022 10:32

Goldbar · 22/11/2022 10:19

This!

WakingUpDistress · 22/11/2022 10:33

Please DO NOT MARRY HIM

And don’t cash your pension either.

If you do any of that, you look end up shacked to him forever. And he knows that.

KvotheTheBloodless · 22/11/2022 10:33

He wants you to pay him to marry you?! Run, run like the wind, and do not look back! Then despatch the likes of @AnyFucker and @pictish to give him a good talking to and tattoo his forehead with 'CF Alert' to warn other women about him. We need a MN A-Team to perform such services to the community, driving around the country in an Ocado van.

Monoprix · 22/11/2022 10:33

He said WHAT?
