Ladies, do you think guys watching any kind of porn is a red flag?

I'm starting to wonder if guys watching porn is a red flag completely. This idea is getting more and more popular among women, and for those of you who have been with men who don't watch it at all, is there a noticeable difference in how they treat you as compared to other men?
There are just so many videos out there that condone abuse and pedo like tendencies and I feel like it's highly unlikely that a guy who watches it hasn't gotten off on these kinds of videos. Words like young, teen, forced, rough, ect. in the tilte of videos are so common I feel. Plus I think it's extremely easy and common for guys to be obsessed with it. My ex 24 bf had a reddit account dedicated to porn and tons of vids and photos saved on his phone and laptop and it made me feel so icky! I had watched porn in the past but it was always a get in and get out thing, having anything saved just feels gross.
Ladies, Is it worth it to find a guy who never watches it or do you think it's possible for men to have a healthy relationship with it?

Erotica makes money for authors (often sahms struggling to support children btw) using words.

Porn makes money for male producers by exploiting porn actresses some of whom have given public statements saying that it’s become usual for them get injured through violent on screen ‘sex’. The actresses being humiliated exploited and smacked around on screen are always from poor backgrounds and often victims of childhood sexual abuse.

Not the same as reading a book is it.

And the millions of women that watch porn which increases the demand massively? Women also often search for very extreme stuff. Just think it's a double standard on here that women are encouraged to explore their sexuality and desires, men do so and it's disgusting.

WahineToa · 25/10/2022 16:48

The pick mes are always strong in these threads.

Yes indeed. But young women today are under huge pressure sexually to be ok all sorts of things. I read an awful discussion of GPs talking about the significant increase in young women coming in with anal tears and leakage. It’s disturbing.

Pornhub is the largest porn site. When the young woman in India was gang raped and burnt alive 8 million pornhub users searched for the video, it was there. Yes, I think it’s disgusting. I’m gonna make an educated guess that the vast majority searching that were men.

@countrypunk The pick mes are always strong in these threads.

I'd rather stay celibate for the rest of my life than date a man who is a porn user. It is just so unspeakably grim.

Is anyone trying to prevent you from making that choice? I can’t see anyone suggesting that it isn’t a valid option for you to choose if you want to. And as these threads always say, there are apparently plenty of men who don’t watch porn, so you’ve plenty of options if you’d rather not be celibate.

Yes. I would not have a relationship with a man who used porn. And absolutely bloody not if he gets off on images of women being abused, humiliated, degraded, tortured or raped. I wouldn't go out with a man who wanked to images of black people being enslaved and whipped, so why would I go out with a man who wanks to the abuse of women?
Us women are not second class human beings. Wanking to our abuse is not in any, any way acceptable.

This ! I never understood how women enjoyed the degradation of other women until I realised that by siding with the oppressors throughout history, women survived war, invasion, genocide. And that survival instinct is alive today in women who defend porn, prostitution, surrogacy and all the other modern versions of male entitlement to the bodies of other women.

IsThePopeCatholic · 25/10/2022 16:58

I could never be attracted to a man who watches porn. It would put me right off. I just think of them as saddos.

Fenella123 · 25/10/2022 16:59

If my OH watches porn then he does it with unfailing discretion! But we're in our 50s, so quite possibly be never got into the habit - I think when he was a teenager he had some novels with sexy passages which may have been wank material;)
Part of me thinks there is a big difference between written erotica and videos. "Porn actor" has a lot of impact on your life - "smut author" pretty much 0 impact. Reading saucy fiction isn't encouraging anyone in a dubious career.

Yes!!!

One study completed in August this year found that 91.5% of men and 60.2% of women watched porn in the past month.
Unless it's affecting your relationship, and the sex that you have as a couple, then porn is obviously very normal these days.

Would you rather be with someone who lies to your face saying that they don't watch it, but actually do...or is them being open and honest and saying that they do watch it, better for a relationship?

KangarooKenny · 25/10/2022 17:31

It would be for me.

WahineToa · 25/10/2022 17:41

😂 clearly that’s not true

LaMarschallin · 25/10/2022 12:39

Don't know about Saltywalruss, but for me the use of "Ladies" makes me think a poster is potentially male.

Yes, me too! And there's something about the sentence structure and choice of vocabulary.

Dammitthisisshit · 25/10/2022 17:49

It is a red flag for me now.

I used to be more ''liberal'' until I got older and connected so many issues with the objectifying of women.

if you want to masturbate then use your imagination, don’t support an industry that’s responsible for large scale abuse of women.

MaxTalk · 25/10/2022 17:55

Has any man not watched porn?

ChrisTrepidation · 25/10/2022 18:08

@SpinningFloppa Yes and as a bisexual woman I wouldn't date a woman who watched porn either. I would still find it unacceptable.

So you've never watched it then?

Blushingm · 25/10/2022 18:15

Nope - they're adults, who am I to try and control their choices?

If I didn't like it then I wouldn't be with someone who did, as it happens it doesn't bother me at all

Peoniesandcream · 25/10/2022 18:23

No I think its completely normal. I don't know anyone who doesn't watch it including me.

BigFatLiar · 25/10/2022 18:26

Saltywalruss · 25/10/2022 17:45

Doesn't bother me, I heard one of my daughters refer to her friends as ladies when they were going out. We were baby sitting and her friends called for her 'ok ladies let's go' I suspect she thinks it's more grown up than girls. Better than being referred to as a girl at my age.

Oh for goodness sake! Watching women being abused is not a valid part of any man exploring his desire!

The OP said "any" kind of porn, not abuse.

I believe it was a porn site that conducted that survey.
A porn site determined to prove "women do it too".
We're supposed to believe what a porn site tells us these days 😂

RandomMusings7 · 25/10/2022 18:32

Well this tidbit of info is interesting:

Twenty-five percent of female searches involving heterosexual porn on Pornhub involve pain and/or humiliation. Five percent search for nonconsensual sex. Women are twice as likely to search for these topics as men. As Stephens-Davidowitz points out, we should differentiate between fantasy and reality when considering such searches. Still, data don’t lie.

Circumferences · 25/10/2022 18:36

Porn is really dull.
Ugly, boring. You need to sift through loads and loads of shit to find anything good, and the shit you sift through is on the whole extremely offensive to women (from the titles alone let alone the content).
It's male dominated, male driven, male supremacist, dick fest. Designed to be shit so you move into more extreme, more expensive porn territory.

Any bloke supporting or actually enjoying it is a twat at least.

Probably many of the same women who shame men for watching it.
