Partner won't eat fruit or veg!!!!

user12312 · 13/06/2022 18:32

Hi ladies. Please help I'm at my wits end!
My partner WONT eat fruits or any type of vegetables. It's driving me insane. I feel like I'm dealing with one of the kids every day.

We have been together under 1 year and now it's really getting me down. He bokes even looking at veg. Both my kids eat a wide range of fruit and veg as do I. Then there's my partner who won't entertain them.
He told me he would make more of an effort and at least try different foods etc.
Tonight for example I put a couple spoons of sweetcorn (which was cooked in butter) on to his plate. He ate a bit and hid the rest under his lasagna and said he was finished. All the sweetcorn was under the leftovers.
It absolutely riles me as I feel like I'm dealing with a child.

It's really starting to make me feel differently about our relationship. It's actually putting me off him a bit if I'm entirely honest.

Any words of wisdom? Thanks

Some people sure do enjoy getting their kicks by being aggressive and rude to people asking advice on here.

To be fair, OP has been chippy & rude herself, since her 3rd post where she exclaims "Finally someone with half a brain cell" & then goes on to call PP sarcastic, patronising, & "not allowed" to question why she has installed a manchild of scant acquaintance into her DC's home.

PP are responding, quite understandably, to that rudeness.

anybloodyname · 14/06/2022 13:23

@KettrickenSmiled 100% agree

Therealjudgejudy · 14/06/2022 13:30

This would be a total dealbreaker for me.

Not that fact he won't eat certain foods, but the childish way he acts about it. Pulling faces and making noises in front of your kids? After you have cooked for him.

The fact that he's a manchild who can't even wash his own underwear is enough, and a seriously bad example to have around your kids. This won't get any better, only worse OP.

Don't forget multiple posts with 'Do one'. The epitome of class Grin

That diet must be “terribly binding” with regards to pooing.

Maybe the OP is venting after dealing with this man-child. Don’t blame her!

@ApolloandDaphne roast it, toast it same thing. But if you really think about it, toasting it would be done in the toaster and roasting the cheese is done under grill

Grilling is done under the grill Confused

ToffeeNotCoffee · 14/06/2022 13:52

roast it, toast it same thing.
It really isn't

But if you really think about it, toasting it would be done in the toaster
Correct.

and roasting the cheese is done under grill
Not really, that's grilling. Would you roast a chicken under the grill ? (If you have a rotisserie, then ok.) Or any other meat ? Do you cook your potatoes under the grill and pass them off as roasted when you serve them ?

I think I'm getting a better understanding of why he doesn't like to eat what you cook, OP.

There is a lot of vile nasty people on this platform. Why was it relevant to ask why my children are even around my partner of nearly one year.

And it looks like you are one of them.

user12312 · 14/06/2022 13:59

@MileageAllowance up here in Scotland. We call it roasted cheese ☺️

Some people really do have too much time on their hands. Fixed that for you.

Yeah, some people have enough time to post 25 replies on a thread they start, but, hey.

I guess others are busy either preparing or eating fruit and vegetables.

thenewduchessoflapland · 14/06/2022 14:15

I couldn't be doing with this in a partner;it's not just the refusal to eat fruit and veg I'm betting it's the overall eating like a child thing.

Does he by chance eat very plainly as well and is generally difficult to cater for?

My DS's girlfriend drives me bonkers with her eating habits;she won't eat fruit, veg, potatoes including potato products eg chips, anything in a sauce etc;she lives on sugary cereal, cheese toasties, spaghetti hoops, chicken strips, chicken nuggets, cheese n tomato pizza, crisps and chocolate.I avoid taking her out to eat with us as she's a PITA with her bad food habits.

Anyway for the above reasons I'm hoping she doesn't end up being the mother of my grandchildren as I'd genuinely worry about them being fed properly.

MyneighbourisTotoro · 14/06/2022 14:22

@Changechangychange I wasn’t talking about OPs partner, I was talking about all the judgmental comments surrounding fussy eaters, some pretty mean things were said even before she disclosed further information about his behaviour.
It’s always the same on any thread talking about fussy eaters, people always judge them harshly.

SlouchingTowardsBethlehemAgain · 14/06/2022 14:23

I really could not give a toss about what this twat of a man eats, but I would not have him eating at the table with my kids whilst making boke faces at my cooking. I also could not fancy this mummy's boy roasted, grilled or fried and his lazy entitlement is not a role model I would want my kids to follow.

Well presumably that’s not an issue though as your children will be eating dinner with you and your husband.

I'm Scottish, live in Scotland and have never, ever heard it called roasted cheese. Always cheese on toast.
