Do you wear pants in bed when you are sharing a bed with a partner you don’t live with?

Was wondering what others do/ think. I don’t live with dp but we stay at each other’s houses 5 nights a week. I prefer not to wear anything, he prefers NOT to be naked. I think it’s a bit odd. His choice of course.
perhaps it’s just me.

What’s living together or not got to do with whether you keep your pants on at night or go naked??

emsyj37 · 02/06/2022 12:12

Do you mean he sleeps naked in his own bed but wears pants in yours??
I would say what he chooses to wear in bed is his business and I can't see why it matters. I usually sleep naked unless it's really cold, DH always wears underpants.

RoyKentsChestHair · 02/06/2022 12:17

I would always insist my ex wore pants when he stayed over in case the kids came in in the morning and his blanket was off! I always sleep in pants too - nobody needs to walk in on their sleeping mum with her legs akimbo! If you don’t have DCs to worry about then surely it’s personal choice, whatever feels comfortable.

MintyMoocow · 02/06/2022 12:18

Maybe he thinks your house might have willy spiders?

yossell · 02/06/2022 12:21

It's a power-play -- he's telling you that he's the one who wears the pants in your relationship. LTB

TedMullins · 02/06/2022 12:25

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t - same with my bf. We don’t live together but he stays over 3/4 nights a week. When he isn’t here I usually wear a T-shirt and pants or pyjamas, sometimes I will wear them when he is here if I want to, or if I feel particularly up for sex or it’s warm, I won’t. Same with him, sometimes he wears boxers, sometimes not. I’ve never thought about it on a deeper level!

Bananalanacake · 02/06/2022 12:26

Is he German, my German DH always wears pyjamas in bed.

Sodthatforagameofsoldiers · 02/06/2022 12:27

Both DH and I wear things in bed. PJs for me and either boxers/tshirt or PJs for him. I've never given it a second thought Confused

Svara · 02/06/2022 12:27

What's odd about not wanting to be naked? I don't find it comfortable myself.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 02/06/2022 12:29

I don't, because I never do, he sleeps in boxers, because he always does. Not sure why that's odd? He takes them off when we have sex 😁

SoggyPaper · 02/06/2022 12:31

I don’t understand the question.

What difference does cohabiting or not make to whether you wear pants in bed (when sleeping with someone you have sex with)?

BigButtons · 02/06/2022 12:31

I like the intimacy of being naked- not just pants off if you are feeling frisky . I haven’t had a partner who wore pants in bed before. Totally get that it’s his choice though.
he’a not German, but he is reserved 🧐

Tend to wear "bed knickers" big comfy cotton pants to sleep in unless I fall alsleep straight after sex. These are knickers I wouldn't wear during the day, they are huge and often holey and so so comfy.
DP wears comfy underpants to sleep in at either house.

BigButtons · 02/06/2022 12:33

Guess I’m over thinking things then. Bloody peri menopause and inadequate HRT is not helping my cognitive abilities or sense of perspective😟

I hate sleeping naked so I don’t regardless if I’m dating someone or not.

my ex expected me to sleep naked and it was an ongoing issue in our relationship. Which is so silly as what difference does it make? It doesn’t prevent you from having sex if there’s clothes on but my ex just didn’t get. Another reason why embed an ex 😂

starlingdarling · 02/06/2022 12:35

Things didn't change before and after DH and I lived together. He's always slept naked. I've always slept in my knickers or sometimes stretchy yoga pants. It's just how we both like to sleep.

It's really controlling!! I can't sleep with bottoms on unless it's really cold and even then it's touch and go if I'm sharing a bed. DP can't sleep without boxers on. Trying to control someone else's sleep habits is controlling and weird.

Svara · 02/06/2022 12:36

Not everyone wants physical intimacy all night. Some just want to be able to sleep.

Are you joking?! You must be!

A man wants to wear pants to bed and it's a power play? This is the most ridiculous thing I've read on Mumsnet.

XmasElf10 · 02/06/2022 12:38

I don’t live with my partner. He sleeps naked and I like my granny nighties. Apparently they are ugly! They are also comfy so I don’t care if they are ugly!

FfeminyddCymraeg · 02/06/2022 12:38

I don’t like being naked in bed - I always wear knickers. My DH used to sleep naked but that’s now become boxers as the DC are older and don’t tend to knock 😬

Carrotten · 02/06/2022 12:39

I really hate sleeping naked and never do it. I just feel sweaty and uncomfortable.

Why do you need to feel intimate while you're sleeping?

I'm married and have always slept with pants on and a t shirt, i find it more comfortable 💁

PetersRabbitt · 02/06/2022 12:46

Agree with it being a power play. LTB!

😂 (I’m just joking)

BigButtons · 02/06/2022 12:48

Thanks for all the views. It’s helpful. I’ll just carry on doing me and he can just carry on doing him.🙂
