I called into the restaurant he works at for a bite to eat, I had told him a couple of times I'd be in that night

When I got there he seemed happy to see me but said 'Oh I had forgotten all about it really."

They were pretty quiet, he was working with 2 other staff members, one is a woman who I admit I feel uneasy about but that's a long backstory that I won't go into.

The 3rd person was on a break so it was just them 2.
I felt like he wasn't talking to me that much and seemed a bit uncomfortable for some reason. She gave me what seemed like a big fake grin, though I may be wrong.

I didn't want to distract him from work but they were very quiet and just kinda stood around. At one point I saw that they were stood really close together when talking and I saw he pulled a funny face at her and then looked at me.

In the end I just said I was tired and left, politely. He said sorry he couldn't talk much, yet he was able to talk to her.

I probably was being overly sensitive but just felt a bit off, I got home and when he got in he told me it had been great to see me and that I had seemed off, I told him I hadn't wanted to distract him or get him in trouble just that he'd seemed uncomfortable and he denied it.

Sometimes i can take things the wrong way and if probably doesn't help with that woman being there.

I've been with my husband 10 years yet I'd be too shy just walking into his place of work and chat with his colleagues around! And I'm not a shy person 😅 we used to work in the same building (how we met) and I never went over to his desk! Ever 😂
I don't think it's weird that you did though!

'his desk' though. Is it an office? It IS a bit odd if so; an office isn't a public place. A restaurant or bar is completely different.

'controlling' because I occasionally go in there and he asks me to go 😂😂 oh my goodness. Best to take this site with a pinch of salt

When you sat down to write your OP @Maddymorphosis, what did you actually want from the thread?

Maddymorphosis · 16/12/2021 15:15

He asked me to go last weekend and I said no as I was tired, guessed I missed a perfect spying opportunity there hey

@IntermittentParps nooo we walked in the same office so I had a desk in the same room but it was a huge room and I wasn't near him but I never walked over anyway, dunno why Blush

OP what has he been like before when you have gone in? If he's been chatty etc do you think maybe he has been reprimanded? You do ho I quite a lot. It's different being friendly to customers than being seen to be skiving off talking to your gf.

Bookworm20 · 16/12/2021 16:25

FFS its not at all odd to visit a BF/GF in a restaurant where they work, when they are at work! If its quiet, they can chat, if they are busy they work.
happened all the time when I was a teen. had loads of friends working in bars/restaurants and we used to visit each other. Chat at the bar if it was quiet and just serve customers if it got businer etc.
Its not the least bit weird! Some people have strange ideas.

OP, your gut told you their body language and reaction to you being there was off.
Listen to it. Keep an eye on things. And don't listen to people telling you its weird.
If you were visiting your BF in his office or science lab or surgery - that would be odd. But in a restaurant, how thats odd is beyond me!

’one is a woman who I admit I feel uneasy about but that's a long backstory that I won't go into’
So you want the thread to be about some woman you think your boyfriend may or may not be/wants to be shagging, but are glossing over that and not going into it?

Life is easier when you say what you mean.
