My DH is obsessed with the New World Order

I need help.

He's bought thousands of pounds worth of equipment - including a machete, an axe, a crossbow and a pellet gun. If he could buy a real gun legally in England he would. I wouldn't be surprised if he bought one illegally.

He's obsessed with the banking industry collapsing, the internet being taken out and power going down. He says the masses aren't prepared because they trust the government too much.

He doesn't talk about anything else. He watches videos all day long on how to "prepare" for what's to come. And stuff from the world economic forum/ mark moss.

He keeps taking about people being shot in Australia and how that will come over here soon.

WWYD?

No right wing extremest has ever used a machete or a crossbow? Really?

Tana433 · 30/09/2021 10:17

@Tilltheend99 I think you have a pretty optimistic view of the situation to be honest and i hope you are right but if society ever did break down (and im not for one minute saying it will) I dont think people will be the pull together, everything in a box and lets share types. You've seen some of the scenes from the petrol forecourts in the last few days, imagine if that was permanent and people didnt know where their next meal was coming from. The poor will fare better as they are used to struggling daily but middle class England will fall to pieces if a situaton that lasts longer than a week occurs.

Not sure where to start with this

I could argue with you about what a right wing extremist is

I could argue about "used"

But no point really, you won't be able to demonstrate any examples of right wing extremists rampaging around using crossbows or machetes. Because it isn't a thing.

You're being ridiculous.

Does this person sound well to you?

CassandraKnew · 30/09/2021 10:30

I'd suggest you are very careful or he could accuse you of coercive control. Presumably everything he has bought is legal and it's his right to spend his money on what he wants.

ElectricDeChocobo · 30/09/2021 10:50

A couple of incels have used crossbows and machetes.

Not really sure what the difference is between him watching those videos all day and someone sitting watching Lorraine then Loose Women. Neither particularly fruitful, but does it make him unwell? And as suggested previously, I'd be inclined to doubt the OPs claim, he probably talks about it occasionally and watches some videos, the OP isn't happy about it, so has blown it up in her head to all day long. People have all sort of crazy obsessions. There's a small chance this one might have a benefit.

Yes...everyone with a crossbow or machete is a right wing extremist incel.

Do you people ever listen to yourselves?

Voldr · 30/09/2021 10:55

As soon as I clicked this thread I knew there would be people defending this weapon hoarding maniac.

That's some logic banana there.....how do you arrive at that conclusion?

Presumably because there's zero evidence he's hoarding them as weapons or that he's a maniac. Quite frankly in 18 words you sound crazier than he does.

This is male violence against women. It’s not right-wing terror against a state.

So why is he hoarding machetes, crossbows and pellet guns? For decoration?

If someone watched loose women (or any show) all day every day and didn't talk about anything else then they would be unwell, obviously. Because it's unhealthy and obsessive behaviour. If a friend did that all day every day and didn't speak about anything else, I would be concerned for their mental health.

And as suggested previously, I'd be inclined to doubt the OPs claim

Why are you inclined to doubt it?

he probably talks about it occasionally and watches some videos, the OP isn't happy about it, so has blown it up in her head to all day long.

Why do you think this when you have no evidence of it?

People have all sort of crazy obsessions.

By definition a 'crazy obsession' isn't healthy when it is all consuming headspace and time wise - and when it involves weapons it's sensible to feel unsettled and unsafe by your partner having them.

There's a small chance this one might have a benefit.

So if there's a small chance, in your words, that this one may have a benefit, there's more chance it won't.

I don't particularly disagree with anything you've said. But none of it means he's a right wing extremist incel ticking timebomb, or that he's a threat to the OP.

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/09/2021 11:48

Try to persuade him to seek medical attention, he needs help.

@itsahardknocklive

So you'd be happy to live with someone hoarding weapons in preparation for the collapse of society?

ElectricDeChocobo · 30/09/2021 11:55

Either he's prepping reasonably and has them to source food, or he's a pathetic simp whose wife controls him, he feels miserable and is living out some sort of prepper fantasy in absence of a functional relationship at home.

Nice victim blaming there.

ElectricDeChocobo · 30/09/2021 11:56

On second thought, I shouldn't respond to hard knock. I'm guessing he's either an incel or a troll.

I've got an axe for chopping stuff down. I've got big kitchen knives. Potato, potatoe.

Having a pellet gun and crossbow isn't hoarding weapons. One isn't a weapon, one is good for killing animals.

The standard response from someone who's world view is slightly Cuckoo - everyone is a troll 😄😄

@Dillyjones72

I’d be very careful around him, very. ESP if you’re thinking of leaving. It’s not actually that hard to get a shotgun licence in the U.K. either, it’s just the other guns ( pistols, automatic weapons Etc.) that are strictly controlled so make sure he’s not going down that route. He sounds like he’s having some kind of mental health crisis.
Rubbish.

It’s pretty hard to get a shot gun licence IF a query has been raised about your MH or you’ve got a criminal record.

There are NO legally held automatic weapons or pistols in the UK. There is no licence for these. They are illegal.

I wish people would get their facts right.

Sommernacht89 · 30/09/2021 12:54

This sounds quite serious to me.He sounds psychotic.please call the mental health team or GP and voice your concern. He needs lrofessional help as soon as possible.all the best

@TheLeadbetterLife

I’ve never understood the preppers’ obsession with gold. It’s a shiny metal, you can’t eat it. It has value only because humans collectively agree that it does, exactly like fiat currency.
Gold was recognised as a store or value when the land which the Bank of England stands on was a woody swamp next to a wide river! Nothing is guaranteed, but gold has a very long pedigree indeed.
