My DH is obsessed with the New World Order

I need help.

He's bought thousands of pounds worth of equipment - including a machete, an axe, a crossbow and a pellet gun. If he could buy a real gun legally in England he would. I wouldn't be surprised if he bought one illegally.

He's obsessed with the banking industry collapsing, the internet being taken out and power going down. He says the masses aren't prepared because they trust the government too much.

He doesn't talk about anything else. He watches videos all day long on how to "prepare" for what's to come. And stuff from the world economic forum/ mark moss.

He keeps taking about people being shot in Australia and how that will come over here soon.

WWYD?

@Spongeboob

£300? Like a compound crossbow? Jesus. I'd be scared to handle that. You can't legally hunt with a crossbow, do you have access to land he could use to shoot the kind of distance those ones can reach? My little one could easily be lethal in the wrong hands but that is a whole different level.
You can’t legally hunt with a crossbow in the UK? We have a crossbow hunting season where I’m from. I don’t hunt but they are used to bring down big game like boars and deer. Iirc also think disabled hunters can use them out of season

I had a quick Google and all the results confirm it's completely illegal to hunt with crossbows in the UK.

I think that is why most people here find it so alarming he'd have one just in case the sky falls in one day. I can't think of many weapons as brutal and capable of the most horrific damage, and you can't even use it here anyway. But of course in his head when society collapses it will be every man for himself and there won't be any law anyway. And through all this OP is totally cool about it.....

@Marjoriedrawers

I didn't get the sense OP is cool with it at all. I think she's scared of the whole set up at the moment and is realising it's becoming all consuming to him. I think she is bothered by all of including the crossbow - rightly so!

If you read back she's not nearly as concerned about the weapons as she should be.

I had a friend who was sitting on a blanket in the garden with her baby, one fine summer afternoon. She looked away from her for a second and upon turning back saw a 6/7 inch crossbow bolt embedded in the lawn within 3 inches of where the baby sat. She hadn’t heard a thing.

She gathered the baby up and retreated indoors, in shock and not sure what to do next. Unbelievably naively, she did nothing. Later when she looked into the garden the bolt had gone.

She later mentioned it to the lady next door, who gave a brief and minimalising explanation.

Turns out the lads next door had got hold of a crossbow and were just playing about with it! That’s how easily these tragedies can happen.

This happened in leafy suburbia, the lads were teenagers, thick as mince, as were the parents - the Dad was a police inspector.

Yeah I didn’t know I’m not from UK

Yeah this can happen for sure that’s why storing them safely is so important. But luckily no kids involved here

Not convinced OP's DH would be any more sensible than a child.

There is no reason for him to have a crossbow. No good reason anyway.

I'd leave. He sounds unhinged.

Is there a way to have the internet shut off for 60 days? A detox from the brainwashing?

Does his prepping include cooking and cleaning?

Y2K was another time when prepping was a frenzy. There seems to be something about men that makes them stupid and gullible for these things.

Is there really any legit reason for you to stick around?
I'd leave.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 02/10/2021 16:37

How are you doing @Electri? Hope you're ok.

lechatnoir · 03/10/2021 12:21

There's no way I could live like that Sad what a miserable existence being in constant fear of 'what if' whilst missing out on the life you're living now. If this was my DH, I would be contacting the mental health crisis team for an urgent appointment.
