The Rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. Know your worth.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Treat others as you'd like to be treated 12. Any relationship you have that could get ruined by having a conversation about your feelings, standards and/or expectations wasn't really stable enough to begin with 13. The things you choose to ignore/ tolerate now are the reasons you will break up in the future 14. OLD can get very time consuming. Keep doing other activities you enjoy.

Optional: Please give your irons (potential dates you are talking to) nicknames like Mr Scottish. Initials are allowed (Mr S) when you are an item

@ibelieveinmirrorballs

I know everyone's experience is different, but for me - Tinder/Bumble/Hinge... all different versions of the same thing; just more of them on TInder. POF - just complete overwhelm from the bottom of life's DNA barrel. Weirdly I've had some good chats and connections this time around from OKC and really like the questions function and the fact you just get so much more information about someone before matching/chatting.

There's a definite decrease in the number of fish clutchers/drugged tiger cubs on OKC too.

Omg yes, the drugged tiger cubs! So weird. Just why?????

I've had recurrent pneumonia due to my own chronic asthma and I'm just thinking she's got a pneumonia smell 😞

I'm monitoring everything- peak flow, oxygen levels etc

Temperature has gone down, just breathlessness now

Heartbeats0708 · 12/09/2021 19:32

I don't like the sound of the rotten smell @BelladiMamma can you have a good look down her throat? Or is it just sort of emanating from her? Always seems to be evening time they go downhill, no matter the age!

Languidleopard · 12/09/2021 19:33

Have a hand hold from me too @BelladiMamma

Really hope she picks up, but yes, do call 111 if she deteriorates.

OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 12/09/2021 19:33

Yes. Evening time the rotters!

I'll have a look down her throat but we are socially distancing... bugger. Could tonsillitis couldn't it

Throat looks fine but she's described the phlegm to me and it's had 'brown bits' in it. So chest infection maybe about to develop into pneumonia. Fuck. However she has no temperature, is eating and is no longer shivery. So it could one of those low level pneumonia's that are best treated at home.

Luckily I'm the local bloody expert in pneumonia so she's in good hands. FGS. We are the most high functioning regularly / chronically ill people I know 😬

I think I'm definitely going to sell the horse 🐴 I can't deal with the responsibility of the animals and now this 😞

Shayelle2009 · 12/09/2021 19:44

No advice but definitely handhold from me too @BelladiMamma. Flowers

Heartbeats0708 · 12/09/2021 19:49

I always think it's a good thing when the (prepare for gross) phlegm is a bit chunky/coloured. I sort of see it as the body clearing the crap out.
Really hope she picks up overnight, great that appetite is there and temp under control.
Horses are a whole other world of stress!! Flowers

The 🐴 always used to be my escape but fairly pointless when you can't even get to see them!

That's true, I agree. We've both had a lot of help from the respiratory physio over the years and the mantra is always better out than in!
VanGoghsDog · 12/09/2021 19:51

I don't think social distancing is as important as care for your sick DD. Do call 111 for advice.

Pneumonia can turn to sepsis which might have a smell.

FireandBrimstone · 12/09/2021 19:55

@Bella - ❤️ for your daughter and for you. 111 seems like the right next step.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 12/09/2021 19:55

BelladiMamma
Sending a massive handhold darling
Covid is a rotter
Please keep us posted and here is to better tomorrow xxxx

I agree. Almost impossible.

Heartbeats0708 · 12/09/2021 20:14

I was wary about throwing the S word out there but it's renowned for having a distinctive smell isn't it. I'd keep an eye out for other symptoms for certain. Obviously you don't want to scare DD but am I right in thinking she's around 15? Hopefully she will keep you informed of any developments.

Yes she's 15. The smell has receded. I'll look up the other symptoms.

Her colour has come back and she's going to bed. She's leaving the door open and has her inhaler with her and strict instructions to let me know if she gets worse

Heartbeats0708 · 12/09/2021 20:35

Sounds like you've got it covered Bella, hope she's much more herself tomorrow Brew

My Dad had sepsis when she was 7 and she saw it unfold and she is aware that there's no point being brave...! That is another awful story about my ex too ... who I really should have dumped after his disgraceful treatment of my Dad when he was dangerously ill ... but I'll save that for another day ...
Misty9 · 12/09/2021 20:49

@BelladiMamma covid is well known for often deteriorating again around day 10 so I'd definitely keep a close eye. If you've got a sats monitor that's really reassuring though. I'm still waiting for my pcr result and had concluded it wasn't covid as routine other tests were negative... But I'm feeling worse again tonight and having to work harder to breathe. Just not sure what 111 would say, and I've got the kids... Bloody covid!

Oh god poor you! How many days have you been poorly for?

Misty9 · 12/09/2021 20:52

About 6 now...although hard to tell as I had a monster hangover last weekend and then a migraine!
