Is it just me or does most men suck?

Exactly just that. I really hate dating now a days, because you just never know if someone's intentions are genuine. Like how do you know anymore? Men of all ages just suck and at this point I have given up. I went on a date with this man, the connection was great before the date and the date was great. I even got a kiss at the end of it but never heard from him again. Like how weird! I don't dwell on it. It's just annoying I wish people would be honest now. I can't stand it. How's everyone else's dating life going? Because my love life is an absolute joke.

This is literally a thread about women’s experiences of men sucking and here are a couple of men one who either question the jobs of women , minimising experiences , telling women they are wrong and women are almost as violent as men ( 60/40 split apparently ) despite direct data provide to contradict this false assertion , totally ignore the multiple valid points raised about male privilege and then go on to tell us all what good men they are and how bad it is for them , topping it off with some nice name calling

In usa it’s 27%
In Australia 34%

Whether women are graduating from stem subjects says nothing to whether women LIKE stem subjects, whether they feel welcomed into the culture and whether they are encouraged and supported to engage in them

So that’s still < 30 % across 3 countries, why are more women not moving into STEM, this country is crying out for engineering and software graduates, where are the females ?

The issues are deep rooted and a lot to do with issues surrounding the oppression of females historically , gender stereotypes , seeing them as less mathematically capable and logical , male dominated cultures
Teachers even ask males more questions especially in maths and science based subjects from early grades .

Yes. Amazingly not all men think like you. Many are our allies and understand their relative privilege and the impact of socialization, unconscious bias, gender stereotypes, childbearing on the life chances of women. Thank goodness.

Yes absolutely amd even though this thread is about a huge number of men who do suck I think we all know some decent , intelligent men who actually listen and acknowledge their privilege amd who do not try to bully women .

Not all women think the same either. We are all different individuals with different talents, experiences or intelligence. The one thing we do have in common on this thread is being treated badly by a certain number of men.

There are institutional obstacles which mean we are often not on a level playing field with men. Check your privilege, guys! Girls often excel at school but then institutional and societal factors hold them back in the workplace. It’s not so long ago that all the bosses were men and all the secretaries women - and it wasn’t because all the men were brighter.

The only issue I’ve taken with the two men here on these last couple of pages is that when privilege is raised that keep saying things are getting better and not even acknowledging that it exists

How long must we wait for things to get better? I don’t think there will be true equality in my lifetime? The one thing that always struck me when I was busy juggling difficult hours and parenthood is that men set the rules. Men are the ones who are usually hostile to flexible working or (until now) home working. That’s because it’s the one area where they have the edge as they can win at the game of “presenteeism” as they don’t have all those responsibilities outside of work. They aren’t the ones who need time off for a parents’ evening or a sick child. Or rather they do have the responsibilities but they delegate them to women!

As for why there are so many no hopers out there in the world of OLD, the reason is they are often the cast-offs. Yet they imagine that because they are 50something males they must be so attractive to women in their 20s and 30s and they sneer at women their own age. I do not like to be seen as a commodity. I’d rather stand on my two feet alone.

We are getting somewhere. I agree with you.

A large number of human beings suck. The majority ARE men. But most people of all persuasions are good, want to do the right thing.

If we don’t hold on to that, we are doomed.
