Is this a weird text to receive from MIL?

Is this a weird text to receive from MIL or am I just being hormonal from the pregnancy? I received this after I texted her an update on our latest scan. “Brilliant. Hope you all well and that you are not getting too many bruises from the kicking! Xx”

I can't see anything remotely weird about that, I think it's a nice sentiment.

Claire4567 · 26/04/2021 18:32

Perfectly fine. Just the sort of thing I'd say in attempt to be upbeat and bring camaraderie. Unless there is some other context, I think you're being hormonal.

AnxietyMumEpi · 26/04/2021 18:32

Sounds just like a joke about the baby kicking?

yankeedoodlecandy · 26/04/2021 18:32

I don't think it's a weird text, seems perfectly fine to me.

Sounds lovely to me?

Maddox33 · 26/04/2021 18:33

What's weird about it? It sounds like a normal reaction to an update on your pregnancy with a drop of humour added.

Unless you told her the scan showed some abnormalities which I sincerely hope it didn't.

doodleygirl · 26/04/2021 18:33

Why do you think it is in any way weird?

Plumplumbadum · 26/04/2021 18:34

How the heck is that weird? It sounds caring, with a little mum in joke to me.

RickJames · 26/04/2021 18:34

That sounds friendly and engaged. Is there a back story that makes you think she might be having a go?

Wheelerdeeler · 26/04/2021 18:34

Omg what a lovely text.

AfterSchoolWorry · 26/04/2021 18:34

Not at all.

DarcyLewis · 26/04/2021 18:35

Nice and normal.

When you’re a bit further along you will realise baby kicks can be really painful!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 26/04/2021 18:35

She sounds lovely, perfectly normal message.

Whatalottachocca · 26/04/2021 18:35

That’s a lovely text from a MIL with a good sense of humour.

MiddleClassProblem · 26/04/2021 18:35

I have no idea what you are trying to read into this? That you have an abusive baby? Bizarre and reaching hard to be upset about something. Clearly it’s been expressed that it’s an active baby...

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 26/04/2021 18:35

Give MIL a break

beginningoftheend · 26/04/2021 18:36

Seems fine to me too. Congrats of your pregnancy Flowers

MrsCatE · 26/04/2021 18:37

Oh dear, your MIL sounds lovely (plus the kisses) - you are definitely over thinking things and hopefully, you didn’t say anything!

AngusThermopyle · 26/04/2021 18:38

Really? .. seems perfectly fine and fun to me.
What do think is weird?

Fnib · 26/04/2021 18:39

Yes I'd say hormones too. Congratulations on your pregnancy Flowers

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 26/04/2021 18:40

Sounds like a perfectly nice message, unless there's a backstory you are about to tell us...

FunnyWonder · 26/04/2021 18:41

It sounds like your MIL is pleased and is wishing you well, with a little joke thrown in for good measure.
