Thread 4. Wow. Thank you for putting up with my ramblings thus far, and for all the support - I couldn't have done it without you all.

I can confirm he has purchased a masher. He sent me a picture of it and asked if it was alright Confused

@drspouse - I had my birth certificate reissued in the name of my choice. I think there are a few they won’t let you use, but you can have virtually any that you like. It’s a legal name change here.

Justilou1 · 03/04/2021 00:05

(Obvs can’t change birth details or I’d choose nicer, richer parents and be 25 years younger!)

drspouse · 03/04/2021 08:22

OK, that's not legal in the UK, it records your name at birth as well as all the other details.

StuckInPollyannaMode · 03/04/2021 09:17

Shhhhhhh

Oh, my HEAD.

My lovely neighbour invited me over for garden drinks last night.

It was an ambush!

When I got there I went round the back to discover 4 of my best friends there with her, Bolly in hand, to congratulate me on doing so well and staying strong. To tell me to keep going and that I was doing the right thing, both for me and the girls.

So. Much. Champagne! There were tears and laughter and, I’m sorry, several hugs.

I staggered got home at midnight and oh, I KNOW I’m still tipsy but thank god for them all and thank god for you all.

Pashazade · 03/04/2021 09:27

That's brilliant! Go make yourself a bacon sarnie and sit quietly. 😉

Daftapath · 03/04/2021 10:05

That brought a slight tear to my eye. What fabulous friends you have! Of course they are right, you are doing the right thing for yourself and your girls 🥂

AdaThorne · 03/04/2021 10:09

When you can face cooking you need a bacon sandwich.

This is a lovely update.

KatherineSiena · 03/04/2021 10:20

How lovely, what great pals you have.

pointythings · 03/04/2021 10:36

What a fabulous update! Just goes to show what a wonderful person you are. Second the bacon sarnie for breakfast when you're up to it.

Oh Polly that sounds so lovely.

Hope you have a fabulous rest of Easter weekend.

Here’s to amazing friends!

noirchatsdeux · 03/04/2021 12:04

@drspouse In Australia you can have your birth certificate re-issued with your married/whatever name you want. Came in after 9/11, it's the only way you can have your Australian passport in your married name, the name on the passport has to match your birth certificate.

I had to go back to my 'maiden' name when I got divorced and wanted to renew my Aussie passport...which also meant I had to get a new British passport. Due to all the faff if I ever get married again I won't be changing my name!

Justilou1 · 03/04/2021 12:49

@noirchatsdeux - you CAN go through Deed Poll here in Aus, but is much more expensive and you have to attain a lawyer. It costs under $200 to legally change name by having birth certificate reissued instead.

Mix56 · 03/04/2021 13:08

That sounds like an ideal moral booster.
Hoorah for the girls !!!!

CharityDingle · 03/04/2021 13:53

Awww Polly!!!! 💜💜💜

drspouse · 03/04/2021 16:56

Oh that is so lovely!

StuckInPollyannaMode · 03/04/2021 17:57

Still got a raging hangover and had a 2 hour nap this afternoon 😂 never drunk so much tea and water! Picked up Chinese crispy duck pancakes for a dirty supper.

@CharityDingle I run with my neighbour and introduced her to one of my friends on the way back from a run last week - apparently they met again by chance last week on a walk and cooked it up.

Feeling very loved.

I’ve also told FWB (chats are lovely!) the truth - that I’ve spent the last 5 years being completely rejected both emotionally and physically (to the point where Geller would flinch if I touched his shoulder or push my hands away) so I’m a bit fragile and lacking in confidence - and likely to go overboard on the tactileness. He says he gets it and I can have all the cuddles I want when we meet up 😁 really looking forward to that now, nice to have it to focus on, a bit of me time!
