Thread 4. Wow. Thank you for putting up with my ramblings thus far, and for all the support - I couldn't have done it without you all.

Previous thread here

I can confirm he has purchased a masher. He sent me a picture of it and asked if it was alright Confused

@StuckInPollyannaMode - when I was 8 1/2 I had to have my arm reconstructed. The OT made me learn how to crochet. I was NOT a crafty girl. The twit gave me white wool as well. I made awful strings of lumpy, grey chains under MUCH duress. She insisted that they could be turned into something - anything, and I simply glared at her and dared her to suggest anything that I would like made out of those stinking, sweaty, snakes of doom. One of the nurses swung by and patted me on the head and agreed that they were a bit shit, and perhaps I'd prefer painting instead. A MUCH bigger hit. Silly woman.

StuckInPollyannaMode · 23/03/2021 06:59

Oh @justilou1 poor you!

My grandmother insisted on giving me a lace making set every Christmas and birthday for 2 years in a row. I couldn’t do it, wasn’t interested, and spent hours getting frustrated and fed up. She couldn’t believe I couldn’t do it as it was what she had done growing up. Well, that was the early 1900s Grandma!

The underwear is only in the sale M&S. I had to take a punt on the Bra size as last time I was measured it was bravissimo, but I have never actually been that comfortable in those bras, although they fit much better than the M&S ones used to.

I do find it frustrating when they don’t list all the pants that match, I love a good matching set! Even plain pants and nice bra would do me fine.

Re WI. The number of times he ended up being away that night, even though I gave him the dates at the start of the year, were ridiculous. I started out arguing it and then just gave up.

Ran out of oil last night. The joys of living rurally. So that’s job no 1 today.

I used to do lacemaking as a child & teen, I loved it!

@StuckInPollyannaMode
Was chatting on a friend on zoom yesterday and she was talking about a neighbour of hers and her situation. Tbh it made me think of you , and sorry to bring it up, but have you thought about your will and what would happen ?
I know no-one wants to think about that, but needs must and all that !

justilou1 · 23/03/2021 09:51

Don’t feel sorry for me, @StuckInPollyannaMode- most of it was pure orneriness. 😉

1WayOrAnother2 · 23/03/2021 15:09

@TabithaTeacake! @StuckInPollyannaMode only has a cold! :)

TabithaTeacake · 23/03/2021 15:47

@1WayOrAnother2

Haha. I know. I'm talking about future proofing the years to come !

Shouldbedoing · 23/03/2021 17:25

I prioritising will making and next of Kin post separation so my brother would now decide whether to turn off life support and not the exH who stood to inherit. Kids get the house obviously

StuckInPollyannaMode · 23/03/2021 18:02

Oh that did make me laugh- am definitely not at deaths door!! Still not feeling great though.

Yes will is on the list, fear not.

He’s not contesting the divorce - application for nisi now filed! Made me feel a bit sad and wobbly.

Still nothing re the financial settlement.

I’m just desperately hoping it’s accepted. Talking to a friend yesterday and her application was denied - first time it’s ever happened to her solicitor - as the judge felt enough effort hadn’t been made to reconcile.

Kids playing up, I’m tired and desperate for an early night. Did manage a walk earlier, first in ages. And I now have heat as flung myself on the mercy of the oil company!

@TabithaTeacake you are right of couse - we should all do a 'will' check at regular intervals.

(It is easy to forget to update this after life-changes, and doing so can have such miserable consequences for loved ones.)

DartmoorDoughnut · 23/03/2021 18:21

Shit I really need to write a will, and get life insurance mind you, being a grown up sucks

StuckInPollyannaMode · 23/03/2021 18:32

I just got life insurance through polly.co.uk @DartmoorDoughnut

There used to be a super will writer on MN - she did my original will. Not sure if she’s still around. May be worth a search?

Very apt Polly Grin I’ve stuck in our basic details will see what they come back with, the will bit should be easy, we don’t own much 😂

RandomMess · 23/03/2021 18:41

Marlow Wills is her firm.

RandomMess · 23/03/2021 18:43

I'm sure her user name is @mumblechum but erm you know with stroke brain anything is possible 😂

RandomMess · 23/03/2021 18:48

I think I will give it a few more years and then change mine so poor DH only gets life interest in my half of the house and it goes to the DDs.

He needs protecting from any future gold digger sweeping him off his feet whilst deeply grieving my demise - this is the man that is a complete introvert, wfh, hates socialising and has very male hobbies 😂😂😂😂

WeatherwaxLives · 23/03/2021 18:50

God I really need to write a will too. I've not had anything to leave anyone before but we bought a house last year so I must get that sorted out.

Polly for your next oil delivery keep an eye on boilerjuice prices, a friend swears by them. If you've not heard of them they give you reduced prices when several people in the same area have a delivery at the same time.

I can't crochet. I've tried, but I just can't do it. Its going to sound really stupid, but I can't get the hook back through the loop without it snagging. So the hook goes through loop 1, yarn around to make loop 2, try to pull loop 2 back throug loop one but it catches on loop one and when I try to disentangle it I lose loop 2 from the hook. I just don't get it. I've watched videos and all sorts but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

swampytiggaa · 23/03/2021 18:55

This is the blanket I crocheted starting at first lockdown but had to take a break due to breaking my arm. It’s pretty much made out of odd balls and ends of balls. So it was decluttering really 😂😂

And then I did this one for my mom 😊 I actually took much more care with this one 😂😂

IME the oil club is far better than Boilerjuice.

Mum2jenny · 23/03/2021 19:02

I’ve always managed to get oil cheaper locally than through boilerjuice.

WeatherwaxLives · 23/03/2021 19:13

I bow to your superior oil knowledge! Like I said, a friend raves about boiler juice and I often see people posting on our town fb page to get enough people together to order. But I burn 50 quid notes have night storage heaters so don't use it myself!

tiredvommachine · 23/03/2021 19:30

@swampytiggaa, they look gorgeous, go you! Star

Letsgetbizzy · 23/03/2021 19:34

@swampytigga omg they are gorgeous 😍

swampytiggaa · 23/03/2021 19:42

They are only small granny squares put together and started as a way to not eat myself into oblivion 😂😂 I’m not good at complicated patterns so I stick with what I know
