Navigating family events with dp’s ex

I really struggle when me and dp attend family events as his ex wife is usually there

  • just feel so uncomfortable

Any tips ? Not going seems wrong

Btw this obv isn’t in person currently due to cv

Btw he also has a lot of pressure from youngest dd that their mum be included - so am sure that is also why he is so defensive about it

But his youngest doesn't insist that your DH attend ex's family gatherings. I assume the pressure from the youngest is actually coming from the ex herself. At some point, the DC shouldn't really need to have both parents at every event. They are hardly little children anymore.

The only way I can describe it is she has carried on exactly as before in terms of extended family , except without him being there

@Silenceisgolden20 you are very wise yep ! It isn’t my issue - I think I will just take a subtle step back from it all for a bit (perfect opp with lockdown )
