Glad you have a bed for tonight

Who told your SIL he threw you out? Does she know for sure that he changed the locks?

brilliant. so have you got a plan for tomorrow?

tbh if you can - take a couple of hours off work to go to council and sort out that deposit for private rent they were talking about. phone utilities as mentioned below - is EXCelent idea - dont be paying - you need to get access to house to et important documentation, clothes etc.

So sorry to hear this but very relieved to hear you have a bed for tonight. Can't be much help at all but wanted to say I know someone who ended up being evicted by her Landlord as he was selling and struggled to find somewhere to live.

Because of her situation (she's on her own, 3 children and not working) her local housing benefit office passed her case to the emergency section who guaranteed the deposit for her to rent privately and fast tracked her housing benefit claim. She was assigned a specific person who dealt with her case to get it sorted asap and she is now in her new flat.

Sorry to but in but the council cannot just fob you off. If you are homeless and in priority need (you have a dependent child) they have a legal duty to accommodate you - even if this is in the short term whilst they discuss options with you.

choice based letting policy in Harlow - useful info for applying for housing

very usefully the homelessness links on the councils website dont work.

housing application form

Blu · 17/10/2007 17:43

There are presumably all sorts of valuable things you need in the house? Documents, as well as personal belongings?
Can you go to CAB or a solicitor tomorrow? or would Women's Aid advise you?

After double checking with CAB or a solicitor, I would take my name off all the bills you are currently paying, from today's date.

If you can get into the house - maybe with SIL's help - take everything that could be of use: Children's birth certificates, all your bank and finace details , yours and childern's passports, and everything that proves you made payments on the mortgage.

claricebeansmum · 18/10/2007 09:20

Thinking of you this morning.

Earthymama · 18/10/2007 09:54

Just wanted to say, have belief in yourself. I wish I had left my ex earlier than I actually did, I was so scared of all the repercussions but in the end I was so much happier. That man you with is an idiot, weak and selfish, at least you won't have him dragging your spirits dowm.

Custy, you are a superstar for putting all that effort in, I love it when people have such a breadth of knowledge and experience in their field, well done, you!!
