Smelly fart date

A couple of weeks ago I went on a date with a guy I used to work with years ago, he got in touch out of the blue and he's really lovely so I thought why not.

We had an excellent time in a nearby city and he showed me some great places, we had a meal and then went to a bar. It started getting busy and we were sat on some settees and all was good!
Then started the smelliest rotten egg farts, truly vile. It got to the third lot of this disgusting odour and I had to say something incase he thought it was me. There was a group of guys behind us and I assumed it was one of them so I said to my date how disgusting it was and that it was making me feel sick. I said I wouldn't be going out if my farts were so bad! (I've only had these awful kind of farts with an upset stomach)

Soon after it was time to head home and the date ended well! Unsure if I fancied him but I had a great time so we arranged another date.

So tonight we went out, he picked me up and as we were driving along and chatting that exact same vile smell wafted it's way around the car Blush

I'm not being dramatic when I say it's the worse fart I have EVER smelt.

He wants to see me again but I honestly hope I never smell that smell ever again in my life!! It's a shame cause he's a really nice man but I can't cope.

Can nerves cause this? He's big on the gym and I also wondered if it was the result of protein shakes or a diet he's on

AIBU to not want to see him again?

If it could be guaranteed I wouldn't have to endure another rotten egger I'd probably be up for it

@PumpkinP I can't remember exactly what his response was but it was something like yeah it's gross, we could either go to a bar away from the farts or blah blah blah. Later on he suggested it might be coming from the toilets!

@PrednoLeucotropin that really made me laugh Grin I'll make myself a necklace out of potpourri!

Yuk!
He must not have bothered trying to hold it in or was unable to but the worst thing seems to be that he had no shame or embarrassment knowing it came from his own backside.

He could be the fittest and best looking man for miles but doing that on a date would put me right off for ever with a man like that. Pity his work colleagues and any other woman who thinks she is on to a good thing going on a date with him.

nosleepp · 07/03/2020 00:20

Is there any chance he can’t smell? I know it sounds stupid but my step dad hit his head and it damaged his taste and smell. Maybe he isn’t acknowledging it because he doesn’t know he’s doing it, or at least doesn’t know it smells awful

Solomon1212 · 07/03/2020 00:22

Ok so maybe he has somwthing wrong. I think theres worse things someone can do and it doesnt bother me really. However your not me and if its something you cannot put up with tell him, that way if it continues you wont feel bad for dumping him lol.

PrednoLeucotropin · 07/03/2020 00:23

At least you won't be worried if he really is single Grin Grin

PumpkinP · 07/03/2020 00:26

He must know he is doing them even if he cant smell them, surely farting on a date is rude and people know farts smells so it’s not like he wouldn’t be aware.

Reminds me of the time my ex kept farting on the bus it was so bad I thought it was the bin truck in front of the bus until he said it was him, I was embarrassed then let alone on a first date

WombOfOnesOwn · 07/03/2020 03:30

Some guys get off on making women uncomfortable with things like this. I feel like we had a thread about a man who came and did stinky shits in someone's office bathroom where everyone could smell them, some years back. It can be a disgusting power move, and a way for them to check to make sure you're sufficiently cowed and embarrassed to not bring up things that cause you discomfort.

It might just be illness or a bad diet, true, but watch for any other indicator that he actually enjoys causing you discomfort or situations where you're forced to hide your true reaction. If you see any indicator, run for the hills. Maybe do that anyway, for your own nose's sake.

DramaLlamaMeditation · 07/03/2020 03:35

Eeeewwwwww that is so gross! Such bad manners. If he needed to fart he should have excused himself. It's happened two times in a row?! 🤢🤮 Block block block.

PhilCornwall1 · 07/03/2020 05:26

Buy him a monster butt plug!

Just don't be standing behind him when he lets rip, it'll turn into a missile!!!

Wtfareyou · 07/03/2020 05:34

It might be because I'm wasted but this is hilarious

Winter2019 · 07/03/2020 05:55

Disgusting! Bin him and tell him why! Jesus, a grown man

GiveHerHellFromUs · 07/03/2020 06:00

Anxiety gives me bad wind - just putting that out there.
Not that it smells bad, mind. It's more just uncomfortable and embarrassing for me.

ukgift2016 · 07/03/2020 06:19

Did he even open an window? If not then I agree he most likely getting off on it. Yes it can be a thing!

SimonJT · 07/03/2020 06:32

OP your username would be perfect for me!

Are you secretly dating my boyfriend?! He’s a little farting machine, sometimes I feel the rumble on the sofa 😂

Aria20 · 07/03/2020 07:14

He probably can't help it and is mortified? I would be.

Winter2019 · 07/03/2020 07:26

Yes, a normal person would be mortified. He could've popped to pub toilets or open a car window. Absolutely vile

SausageSimon · 07/03/2020 08:17

If he'd said "I'm so sorry I've got a really upset stomach at the minute" I'd feel a bit more sympathetic! But the fact he wasn't mortified suggests these eggys are normal for him I feel!

Worried about the suggestions of liking to make people feel uncomfortable, he hasn't done anything else of that kind but the thought is as gross as the farts!

My mum told me someone they know farted like that and he said they've been the same all his life, I couldn't cope with a lifetime of that smell!

Therebythedoor · 07/03/2020 08:23

Either he likes the smell or it has become so 'normal' for him that he's gone nose-blind...

TheStuffedPenguin · 07/03/2020 08:25

He could be on meds that cause this as well .

Cuttingthegrass · 07/03/2020 08:29

I have to ask him. I have to say, hmm you know when we were in the bar and I commented on the stinky fart smell, well the exact same smell occurred in the car the other night. I have to ask if you have a problem? And if it is you why you blamed the toilets?

Cuttingthegrass · 07/03/2020 08:29

I'd have to...both times. Damn phone

Lazydaisydaydream · 07/03/2020 08:30

I used to work with a guy who did the most horrendous farts, they slept horrific and he just didn't seem to make any attempt to cover them up/move to a different area Etc. But if anyone ever mentioned the smell he'd act all innocent (even though we all knew it was him!!). He had a lot of protein shakes for the gym so I assumed it was that.

The smell used to make me feel sick.... I always wondered how on earth his girl friend put up with it!! It would be a deal breaker for me, if he's not even acknowledged it and willing to try and change it.

m00rfarm · 07/03/2020 08:33

Maybe it’s nerves. It’ll settle down after a few dates?

PhilCornwall1 · 07/03/2020 08:36

He could be on meds that cause this as well .

You're right there. I've got two that I have to inject that really mess with my stomach. When I fart, it smells like a rat has crawled up my arse and died.

labazsisgoingmad · 07/03/2020 08:38

nerves no doubt offer him some buscopan!
