Dumped by text

1000 replies

user1471427667 · 20/01/2020 12:30

Bf of 2 years sent me this text in the early hours of this morning.
“Hey I’ve been thinking about us and it’s just not working out so best to end it. No need to reply. All the best”
I feel absolutely blindsided. Didn’t see this coming at all. Aside from the shock of it, I feel so dismissed that he put “no need to reply” as if he I don’t have a say in it ( well I know I don’t but the urge is to try and talk about what he feels is wrong)
Should I ignore what he said and try and contact him to find out what’s wrong and try and work it through or at least end it amicably? Or just accept it somehow and not reply.
I feel as if someone has punched me in the stomach and everything I thought was real just isn’t.
Please help me retain some dignity and tell me best way to reply or not.

Sounds like the shine of whoever he dumped you for has worn off or she has dumped him so he is sniffing round what he thinks is reliable old user1471427667.

Don't respond. That is the best and most deserved response you can give him.

You are brilliant OP. This has made my day!!!!

You have beaten him at his nasty, cruel little game.

Never, never, ever reply. Star

SunshineDays2019 · 11/02/2020 18:32

What a pathetic creature, with each text he will make himself even more unappealing, yuk! I suggest you prepare for the possibility he may turn up, or that you may get a delivery on Friday. Keep occupied, and surrounded by friends and us lot! You seem so lovely, far too good for a prat like him. Happy pasta eating Smile

Beau20 · 11/02/2020 18:41

Yes OP!!! Well done you! You re so so strong.

What kind of vile piece of crap even has the BALLS to text you after what he said never mind ' I miss you'

Cock.

notthisshitagain · 11/02/2020 18:44

What kind of response is he expecting to "Are you okay"??

I'd be tempted to reply "Never better, bellend", but I know that's not the dignified way Grin

Pennylane22 · 11/02/2020 18:49

If you have a wobble OP and like replying just re read your first post jere and his appalling message ‘ no need to reply’ Confused what a low life he is.

AnneKipanki · 11/02/2020 18:52

Yes, @Pennylane22 because that "no need to reply " reads as IDGAF .

AnneKipanki · 11/02/2020 18:53

But he needs one now .

eddielizzard · 11/02/2020 19:14

Bloody well done!!! Flowers

Grobagsforever · 11/02/2020 19:18

YES! OP should get an award. Mumsnet should do actual awards for this display of self restraint!

SmellyBeard · 11/02/2020 19:23

Prepare yourself for his texts to either become more angry (why are you ignoring me - I can see I was right to end it) type thing or guilt-trippy (I'm depressed and I didn't know what I was doing) type thing.

Both are bullshit and designed just to trigger a response from you.

Mikeymoo12 · 11/02/2020 19:25

Oh that's an excellent point smellybeard! Definitely ignore ignore ignore

SidneyPrescott · 11/02/2020 19:28

Oh my god. What a prick!!

I actually gasped!

Enjoy picturing him checking his phone every two seconds to see if you've replied. And then think of the sinking feeling he gets when he realises that you're not falling for his bullshit. You have retained your dignity and regained control. Well played. He's made himself look like a right twat.

Stay strong!

Straycatblue · 11/02/2020 19:38

stophuggingme
Well he knows he’s made a huge mistake
You wait he will have the temerity to turn up at your doorstep at some point.

This ^
Mentally prepare yourself for what you want to do in the likelihood he may just pitch up at your house when your texts go unanswered. (don't even answer the door or take great pleasure in slamming it in his face with a cheery wave )
Suspect he may also send you valentines gift/flowers/card on Friday also in an attempt to get your attention. Prepare yourself for this too.

You've done amazing not replying to him and continue to do it , the novelty of his singleton has obviously worn off and hes cared so little for your mental wellbeing thats its taken 3 weeks for him to see how you are, don't be decieved though, he doesnt care how you are at all, his text is him trying to crack open the door little by little to have you on standby, he probably needs you to give him an emotional boost, boo hoo for him.

eddielizzard · 11/02/2020 19:40

If he pitches up you can looked breezy, bright and surprised! what's all the fuss?! He did say not to reply... Oh soz I just got on with my life. must dash.

Peignoir · 11/02/2020 19:43

What trash! Eat your pasta and revel in self love. The audacity of these men never ceases to amaze me.

Nofoolfornoone · 11/02/2020 19:52

I also think you deserve the mumsnet queen of the year award!!

hotdog44 · 11/02/2020 19:54

@user1471427667 this sounds incredibly like my previous situation.

However, I was messaged asking for my Louie Vuitton handbag back.... this was a gift I received for him.

The messages went a little Like this.....

Ex-I’ve just realised you’re kept that loui bag, can I have it back. Thanks.
Me- that was a gift
Ex- don’t care I want it back
Me - no chance
Ex- you jokin
Me- leave me the f alone you’re vile
Ex - give me the bag back you want to chat s about me why would I let you keep it, Im not arsed about the money but not having you slag me off.
I then didn’t reply and received another reply saying.......
Ex- so your not giving me the bag back that’s what your saying.

I never replied because well...isn’t it obvious.

OP do not answer, and get yourself a Louie Vuitton bag!

Aminuts23 · 11/02/2020 20:00

OP I’m just going to chip in to say you are an absolute legend. He treat you like absolute crap. Right now you have taken back all of the power! I’m sure he’s totally bewildered at how you are resisting him right now, with his pathetic ego. You’re brilliant. I went NC too when I was hideously dumped which really helped but that was after I’d been very undignified by text and email beforehand. I wish I’d had your dignity and restraint at that time.
Keep ignoring him.

VettiyaIruken · 11/02/2020 20:14

Glad you aren't going to reply. Nothing you could say to him would be better or more satisfying than simply ignoring him.

And how insulting is he being, thinking he can treat you the way he did then get back in touch expecting that you'll leap into his bed for a valentine's shag arms?!

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/02/2020 20:15

He is trying to provoke a response. Do not give it to him. Ignore, ignore, ignore! Well done you - you rock!

BumbleBeee69 · 11/02/2020 20:18

OP.... I wish you the very best... bloody marvelous display of strength on this Thread... you are doing great... you have your power back OP.. keep it Flowers

user1471427667 · 11/02/2020 20:31

You lot are the best, seriously the best!
I’ve read all your messages and they have all strengthened my resolve .
He has made it easy for me anyway really. If there was a big apology, some sort of realisation of what he has put me through, then a part of me would possibly want to reply.
But his messages are ridiculous!
Don’t think he will turn up here, my flat has a video entry phone so I’d see it was him and not answer. Don’t think I’d trust myself to see him at the moment. My emotions are all over the place and I’m not sure I could pull off the ‘Ice Queen’ vibes face to face without crumbling.
He doesn’t get to see my tears or my angry or my love I still have for him. He gets nothing from me now.

OP posts:
Mikeymoo12 · 11/02/2020 20:34

I am so proud of you OP you are doing amazing and too right don't let him see your tears! He's disgusting and I hope he crawls back under his stone you deserve so much better

Tana433 · 11/02/2020 20:37
