user1471427667 · 20/01/2020 12:30

Bf of 2 years sent me this text in the early hours of this morning.
“Hey I’ve been thinking about us and it’s just not working out so best to end it. No need to reply. All the best”
I feel absolutely blindsided. Didn’t see this coming at all. Aside from the shock of it, I feel so dismissed that he put “no need to reply” as if he I don’t have a say in it ( well I know I don’t but the urge is to try and talk about what he feels is wrong)
Should I ignore what he said and try and contact him to find out what’s wrong and try and work it through or at least end it amicably? Or just accept it somehow and not reply.
I feel as if someone has punched me in the stomach and everything I thought was real just isn’t.
Please help me retain some dignity and tell me best way to reply or not.

Aw, he's giving the fishing line a little yank to see if you're still hooked on there.

What an all round cowardly, unstable, cold, pathetic wanker.

Bet he's been getting a little bit more unsettled and confused every day by your lack of begging, ranting, trying to communicate etc.

Op you've already had a tesco moment in not contacting him and having him try to contact you. You'll probably have a few more as well.

user1471427667 · 11/02/2020 14:43

Thank you @SmellyBeard and @TatoTurner. You are right. I just needed someone else to say it iykwim.
I have blocked his calls but actually can’t block texts on my phone ( Android). Have looked into it and doesn’t seem to be a way.
I hate him for stirring this all up again. HE left, HE didn’t want me in his life. HE even ‘instructed’ me not to reply to his pathetic cowardly break up text. But now, on some sort of whim, he thinks he can text one word and I’ll be grateful???!!!!
Urghhhhhhh!!!!!

Stay strong Op. you are three weeks in to rebuilding your life. Don’t reply and get sucked back into this. You deserve better. You are doing great!

user1471427667 · 11/02/2020 14:50

@GilbertMarkham,
Yes, he is fishing. After 3 weeks he hasn’t heard a peep from me, and maybe he is starting to wonder how I can possibly cope without his ‘cowardly, unstable, cold, pathetic, wanker ‘ self!( am stealing that description as it’s spot on!!!)
It doesn’t feel like a euphoric Tesco moment, it feels like he is mocking me and what (I thought) we had.

OP posts:
Cinderemma · 11/02/2020 14:52

I knew he'd resurface again at some point. Bet it's been driving him mad the fact you didn't reply to him.
Don't reply back to him or tell him to fuck off and there's no need for him to reply to you.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 11/02/2020 14:52

Ignore ! You have done so well
It’s going to drive Him mad !!!! He will try again probably fucking twat

user1471427667 · 11/02/2020 14:53

Hi @TreatMyself, the only thing I was tempted to reply was something very abusive! But, am trying not to. Deep breaths!!!
Thanks @Pennylane22, have got to remember how far I’ve come and not go backwards.

OP posts:
Chocolate123 · 11/02/2020 14:56

What an absolute waster. He's wondering why on earth you haven't come begging for him. He wants an ego boost. You are well rid of him well done for not replying Smile

user1471427667 · 11/02/2020 14:57

@hellsbellsmelons, believe me, when I read it, alone in my flat this morning, I shouted out those exact two words at the top of my voice!!!
I’m glad for now, that I haven’t replied. Why the hell is he doing this now??!!!!

OP posts:
SmellyBeard · 11/02/2020 14:58

I don't see it as mocking. Your lack of response has thrown him and rendered him too unsure and cowardly to approach you directly, so he's gone for a testing the water approach.

He's gradually realising that actually you can reject him and his shitty behaviour back, simply by moving on.

Are you sure you cant block texts on Android? I thought you could 'add to spam'.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 11/02/2020 14:58

Because his ego and Dick are hurting
He expected a reaction , didn’t get one
And he wants one
He probably misses you too

Livebythecoast · 11/02/2020 14:58

I'd be so tempted to text back 'hey, sorry I don't recognise this number. Are you the guy I met last night, Steve? Or is it John from the night before?'.

I probably think silence is best though!

Mikeymoo12 · 11/02/2020 14:59

Omg do not reply silence is golden! What a nasty little player he thinks he is! He was hoping and still is to have you dangling by a string! Keep your silence and keep moving on with your life, he is disgusting and not worth a reply

user1471427667 · 11/02/2020 15:00

@CinderEmma omg! 😂 If I’d read your message just after I’d got that text, I would have been so tempted to reply with just that message
“Fuck off. No need to reply “
Lol! Thank you. That’s made me smile!

OP posts:
SmellyBeard · 11/02/2020 15:00

Why's he doing it now - he's probably realised that his new shiny woman isn't so shiny after all. Or she's ditched him.

mamaoffourdc · 11/02/2020 15:01

I would answer with - sorry I don't have this number, who it is?

Thisisworsethananticpated · 11/02/2020 15:03

Nothing nothing nothing
Let
Him sweat

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 11/02/2020 15:08

He was always going to text again, Men are like boomerangs..they always come back.

Truth is his probably gone 3 weeks without a shag and thought I know I bet she’s pining for me I’ll message her

Don’t allow yourself to be treated like he treated you. Do NOT reply all you will do is stroke that ego.
What will annoy a man like this the most is you ignoring him, that shit will drive him crazy because his such a catch and your rejecting him

TooTrusting · 11/02/2020 15:09

I have followed this thread waiting to see how long it would take him. What a cock.

user1471427667 · 11/02/2020 15:11

@SmellyBeard, just speaking to a friend at work and she is saying the same about him just testing the water. I guess he might have tried to ring but I’ve blocked calls from him. I’m sure the options on my phone were only, block calls and delete contact, but I’ll look into it again.
I miss him so much but I’d never trust him again
No contact

OP posts:
CandyCaneLeBonBon · 11/02/2020 15:13

What a cocksucking wanker. I've just read the full thread op. You've done so well. Don't cave now. Just shows you did the right thing by ignoring him the first times round. I went through similar although I wasn't as dignified as you. I took him back. He continued to behave appallingly and I now have absolutely nothing to do with him. Don't be me! Good luck Thanks

MrsMelanieHamilton · 11/02/2020 15:13

@TooTrusting me too.

OP once he doesn't get a response via phone, I bet he'll turn up to your home or work.

Cinderemma · 11/02/2020 15:15

I'm glad I made you smile Smile but I'm even glader (is that even a word??) that you haven't replied to him. Don't stroke his ego.

Stumpedasatree · 11/02/2020 15:17

Fucking cock! I am so livid at him and all the other wankers who think they can treat women like this. And I'm cross at all the women who let them.

Don't let him slime his way in again. Carry on being strong and drive him batty with it - you've done amazingly. Be prepared for more from him though! Come here and get the support whenever you need it, there are so many wise people on here.

notthisshitagain · 11/02/2020 15:17

I'm glad he texted you! He's shown himself up to be a fucking idiot who doesn't have the courage of his own convictions, and doesn't know what he wants. You've shown nothing but dignity and strength.

You didn't cave and now he has. Has he any clue how cowardly he looks? He's handed you the power, the absolute twat. Use it wisely and continue to destroy that ego of his.
