But I will say (from my limited dating experience) that your reaction is common and that doing something like cooking dinner for a woman is often met with surpise/confusion that you can be bothered to make the effort.
Don't know whether that's based on years of being with husbands who don't make the effort or blokes from OLD who don't bother either?
