Dating thread rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.

And a reminder - you don't know them until you know them!

Can I get some overnight essentials help please for a sleepover, bearing in mind I will be carrying tote bag around with me all day...

So far I have bought miniature/travel toothbrush, toothpaste, moisturiser, shower gel, deodorant, dry shampoo and face wipes.

I will also have clean undies and a change of top/shoes, contact lens case with solution in. I really want to take my hair straighteners but is that OTT?! My hair can look a bit disastrous in the morning or it can look like i haven't even slept...sod's law is it will be the former.

What else do I need?! Should I take nightwear? Thinking more about the next morning but I don't have anything remotely sexy! Aaarrggh! I think I'm overthinking this...

ItsAMiracle2015 · 05/04/2019 13:15

sunshine definitely overthinking. I would bring the hair straighteners but my hair looks a mess if I don't 🤷. I wouldn't bring night wear if it were me though...

Sunshineandflipflops · 05/04/2019 13:20

But what would you do the next morning...say going to the bathroom, etc? I can't walk around naked with someone I have only just spent the night with Blush

Sunshine you are overpacking I think. He will no doubt have shower gel and toothpaste.
I would pack
Toothbrush
Face wipes
Moisturiser
Make up essentials
Clean knickers and top
Hairbrush - embrace the bed head!

Tell him he has to loan you a T-shirt if you don’t want to walk around starkers

unique1986 · 05/04/2019 13:25

Ha sounds like a nightmare. I hate packing.

ItsAMiracle2015 · 05/04/2019 13:26

I would go to the bathroom and get dressed. Surely it would be weirder to get changed into your night wear after DTD or put on the night wear in the morning? I've never thought about it before 😂

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 05/04/2019 13:28

Interested in hearing a mans perspective on this though...drummer hairy rich in films men always seem to love women wearing their clothes is it sexy in real life or should we be packing pjs?

Ant330 · 05/04/2019 13:31

Glad it's not just me that thinks you're taking too much, it sounds like you're going on a city break and need a suitcase lol.
He will have toothpaste, shower gel etc. Another pair of shoes, what's that about??
I know I'm a bloke and I'd just bung a toothbrush in my pocket and turn my boxers inside out(kidding) but you'll have an arm and shoulder injury by the time you've spent the evening carting that lot around!

richdeniro · 05/04/2019 13:32

Nooooo don't pack pjs..... I'll always offer one of my t-shirts, shirts or jumpers and boxers if they need - my wardrobe is their wardrobe. One girl even wore my boxers home one time and I never saw them again Grin

I'll always have spare toothbrushes too and would pop to sainsburys if they were in need of a brush as it's just around the corner.

Sunshineandflipflops · 05/04/2019 13:34

But if you need to get up to use the bathroom then want to get back into bed, you wouldn't want to be getting completely dressed & undressed again? I guess the clean t-shirt I pack will do to pull on over pants. Sorted.

Jury's out on the straighteners though...

Yes, a male perspective would be good!

Ant330 · 05/04/2019 13:35

No PJs, one of my tshirts and a pair of my CK boxer briefs if forgotten clean underwear sounds perfect :)

Sunshineandflipflops · 05/04/2019 13:35

@richdeniro you are just lovely.

I wouldn't have gone full on flannel pj's...maybe a t-shirt or something.

StealthNinjaMum · 05/04/2019 13:37

That's an interesting question marlboro. At home I sleep in silk or satin chemise type nighties and I could squeeze one into a really small size to fit in a bag. But they seem really hard to buy these days so I guess I'm old fashioned (mid 40s) and most women wear pyjamas. Even the word nightie makes me sound like a grandmother.

Guys do you have a preference for what women wear to bed or to wander around in afterwards.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 05/04/2019 13:37

I agree with all the others - no need for PJs - borrow a shirt/t shirt from him. I don't think of myself as super confident but I would walk naked to the bathroom! He will have seen your body by then!

StealthNinjaMum · 05/04/2019 13:38

Cross post you got there too quickly.

Still18atheart · 05/04/2019 13:39

Overnight essentials are toothbrush tooth paste; undies and depending on what I’m wearing that night change of clothes. Hairbrush, dry shampoo, makeup basics and face cream.

Still18atheart · 05/04/2019 13:40

Oh no not pjs ask to borrow a T-shirt

Sunshineandflipflops · 05/04/2019 13:40

Batshit Yes, but hopefully horizontally when gravity is not at it's strongest and with dimmed lights! Morning after walk to the bathroom is something else when you are a 40 year old mum of two and have the body and scars to prove it Blush

StealthNinjaMum · 05/04/2019 13:43

Condoms?

BatshitCrazyWoman · 05/04/2019 13:44

Sunshine I'm 55 in a month and have had kids and I'd still do it! But if you feel self-conscious borrow something from him

Sunshineandflipflops · 05/04/2019 13:44

stealth - Yes, must remember those!

MrDrummer · 05/04/2019 13:45

toothbrush and femfresh (optional). When I was in LTR, she just used my dressing gown. This isn't a pre-arranged sleepover, as far as I remember, so you don't want to look too pre-planned.

I think I have been on holiday with less baggage than has been proposed so far.

ItsAMiracle2015 · 05/04/2019 13:46

Just steal on his t shirts for the morning trip to the loo? I really wouldn't bring PJ's if it were me. I don't even own PJ's though. I sleep in an oversized t shirt 😂.

unique1986 · 05/04/2019 13:47

I like my own Pjs
