Dating thread rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.

And a reminder - you don't know them until you know them!

shit I agree with cassettes. Have a look on Tinder or elsewhere and if you find him, go for it!

shitwithsugaron does he work in the shop? If he does then go back, looking gorgeous and ask for help with something. Then you can say 'I think I recognise you from somewhere. Have we met?'

MIA12 · 13/03/2019 11:45

Shitwith go for it! Bet you didn’t imagine it but agree that giving your number would have been weird. I really like myolds idea of going back and asking for help if you are brave enough.

CassettesAreCool · 13/03/2019 11:55

Be brave shit, life's too short to miss opportunities!

MIA12 · 13/03/2019 12:00

I spent the night with Mr Giant. Things seemed a little cooler than the first two dates but he’d cancelled plans to go out with his friends because he was tired and I was pretty knackered too so put it down to that. He cooked a lovely meal and we jokingly got onto my animals and how it’d work if we lived together. I thought he was winding me up at first but he said he wouldn’t want cats living with him. My OLD photos feature my cats and I told him about them on our first date too Hmm All went a bit weird although things were better this morning. We haven’t DTD. I told him I wouldn’t be if he’s saying we aren’t compatible. I’m not looking for a ons.

We’ve agreed to see each other again but I have a slight pink flag - he asked me to text when I got home, I have but no reply. Also on my way over yesterday he asked me to get a couple of bits for dinner and some beer for him. When I pulled up at his we both arrived at the same time - he’d been to Tesco too so why couldn’t he get his own beer Confused

Be brave and ask him next time shitwith fortune favours the bold Wink

No I didn’t ask him as it seemed petty for the sake of £4 but I’ll be keeping an eye on it. I did say that to him r.e. the animals and after him firstly saying it’s no ones fault if our lifestyles aren’t compatible he did have the good grace to backtrack and say he was to blame for not thinking it through. Will see how things go but feel he’s kind of sucked some of the fun out of getting to know each other now.

MyOldBrainStoppedWorking · 13/03/2019 12:45

MIA12 Are you over-thinking this a little? It's only the third time you've met but you talked about living together? I understand that not liking your cats is a big deal but at this stage I'd just go with the flow. If you get on well then just enjoy it.

As for the beer thing, I'd just assume his plans had changed or that was your contribution to the meal. See how it goes next time.

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 13/03/2019 12:49

Another question for the FAB brigade. If you use kik i know you set a user name but when you invite someone on to kik can they see your full name? (Mine is unusual) or do you set it with a fake name? Do you use a face pic? Thanks

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 13/03/2019 12:49

mia how did you get talking about moving in?

BatshitCrazyWoman · 13/03/2019 12:52

I didn't use a face pic on Kik or on Fab. Most Fabbers that use Kik just use their Fab username as their Kik one. I wouldn't use my real name.

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 13/03/2019 12:52

Been talking to Mr Lawyer for over a week and he seems great, was supposed to have a date last night with him but had to cancel as baby unwell. Talked some more and he is 2 inches shorter than me. I know it’s mean but I know I won’t fancy him physically. Do I tell him the truth? See him anyway? My child free time is so limited that I hate to waste it but in every other way he sounds great!

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 13/03/2019 12:53

Thank you batshit

CassettesAreCool · 13/03/2019 13:10

Marlboro I'd be saying, as nicely as I could, that it's a no deal sadly. No sense prolonging the agony.

MIA I'm sorry but Mr Giant sounds a bit off to me, telling you to bring him beer in the first place. The civilised thing would have been for you to bring what you wanted and him to bring what he wanted. And the cats thing is odd too. I don't like cats and wouldn't want to share my space with them so I sympathise with him, but he's matched with you and you are clearly a cat person, so this is an incompatibility that sounds like quite a big one.

MIA12 · 13/03/2019 13:18

Could well be me overthinking MyOld and the talks of living together is all in good humour. Like when he was showing me around he was asking what I’d change, saying I’d probably be taking over the wardrobe space etc. Thanks for that perspective and I’ll try to just enjoy it as it comes.

Marlboro he has brought it up a couple of times. I don’t bring it up - I’m in no rush but I’m late twenties and would like a family so moving in together would be on the cards with the right person.

MIA12 · 13/03/2019 13:22

It’s weird Cassettes as he claims he likes cats but when he said he wouldn’t want to live with them it’s because they can be ‘cold’. Confused

The beer thing doesn’t sit right with me either but I’ll keep it in mind.

TooOldForThis67 · 13/03/2019 13:41

Mia - I love my pets (cat & dog) and I would be gutted if someone said that to me. As for the beer, that's a bit odd too as it's customary to say, bring what you'd like to drink. Plus the not replying to your text. Hmm. See how it goes next time, if you want a next time?
Marlb - No, he could be fantastic but the height is always going to be on your mind, you won't be able to overlook it (no pun intended). Like me, time is precious, I'd fade away, or tell him.

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 13/03/2019 13:44

Haha tooold I would defo be able to look over him..especially in heels 😂

MIA12 · 13/03/2019 13:46

TooOld Yes I was gutted but I won’t give up my pets so anyone I meet will have to like it or lump it. He has now text asking how an appointment I had this morning went and asking what I’m up to so maybe I jumped the gun on thinking he was ignoring me Blush

MIA12 · 13/03/2019 13:47

Marlboro two inches shorter is significant if you normally like a taller man. I wouldn’t waste yours or his time.

Notcoolmum · 13/03/2019 13:52

MIA I assume the beers were a 'contribution' but it's a bit odd. Seems very early to be discounting living together over cats he's not met...

Marlboro are you sure you wont fancy him, not worth a meeting? My current iron is pretty short but I think he reckoed he might be able to charm someone who was looking for someone taller! But he did say he got unmatched a lot once asked about his height!! I'm only short so it's not an issue for me :)

Go for it shitwith any sign of him on Tinder yet?

Lovemusic33 · 13/03/2019 13:54

MIA12 Mr Giant sounds like someone I dated recently, he’s said the same about cats. I love all animals, I hate it when people ask if I’m a cat or a dog person? Didn’t realise you could only like one.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 13/03/2019 14:13

I like all animals too so a cat-hater (I'm a cat person) would be a nope from me. At this early stage I'd be making a joke of it though - particularly as he said he liked cats at first Confused

Mr Cat (ha!) went a bit weird with his comment about a pic he sent me (saying most people don't get this) about which I said I didn't know what there was to 'get' . He replied 'I can't tell if you don't get it or you get it but don't think it's funny'. I did get it but it wasn't a joke, and not meant to be funny. He then said I was 'touchy'. I didn't bother replying to that and archived the chat. He's unmatched me on Tinder so I'm dateless this weekend!
