Would you do a test even though you knew you weren't

Hi all,

What would you all do in my situation? DH and I have been told that we have less than a 1% chance of getting pregnant naturally (problems on both sides) and we have had one failed IVF attempt, which although worked, it didn't stick and we had what the clinic classed as an early miscarriage. We were told to keep trying naturally which we have, although not religiously (I really struggled with the first round and now believe that my body doesn't work anyway so what's the point). We are waiting for a second round, I just need to lose a bit more weight before we can do so, but my weight loss is steady, not drastic and I've been regular throughout so don't think this is the cause, but my period is now 6 days late with no signs of showing up (none of my normal pmt symptoms). I am normally fairly regular. Is there any point in doing a test and being disappointed even though I know really there is no chance of being pregnant, or would you just wait it out until it arrives. I could I guess being perimenopausal (I'm 38). I have no signs that would make me think I could be pregnant, apart from fatigue (which isn't a new thing to me). Don't really know why I am posting, just wondered what others would do? x

Asda do a twin pack for £3.50 that are really good (10 ml or whatever it is pink dye ones)

I hope the result is what you want. My brother and (first) SIL were told they had no chance of conceiving due to DB's nil sperm count. DN is now 32 (and DB has 3 other kids) so it can happen.

Well test has been bought, mid range price one which shall be done Saturday morning if AF hasn't arrived by then!! Really not holding out much hope and am trying to convince myself it's the weight loss that has caused it to be late! x

I have my fingers and toes crossed for you. Like a lot of other ladies, I was pretty much told it wouldn't happen without a lot of investigation and intervention, so I had just started my fertility treatment journey... told to lose 6+ stones before they would begin so I had started a VLCD and assumed I was feeling totally crap because of that... I don't know what made me do the cheap test (that I had bought in bulk from Amazon, in the vain hope one day they would work) but here I am, halfway through my pregnancy and wondering how the hell did I get here (I DTD twice that month and I had not ovulated in YEARS!)

I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for you OP!

After 7 years of infertility, countless tests, clinical trials, miscarriages, failed IVF and operations, I thought we'd never become parents and we were on the verge of giving up and coming to terms with the idea that we'd never have children.

Four weeks after thinking that all hope was lost, I got pregnant naturally and went on to have a healthy baby girl. When she was 5 months old, I found out I was pregnant again and I'm now due in March 2019.

I understand how hard it is, mentally and physically and I can only say, never give up! Miracles do happen! I wish you and your DH all the luck in the world!! 🍀🍀🍀🍀

LISALOTTA9 · 13/09/2018 13:51

Stormwhale · 13/09/2018 14:00

Well whatever the result op, we are all here for you. Infertility is a fucking bastard, I'm sorry you are going through it.

Similar situation- hubby and I were told we wouldn't be able to have children naturally and would need help. I felt a bit tired and didn't fancy anything to eat...our son is 6 now.
