Have you got a moving date Willow Can you take a warm bath with salt or Epsom salts? Wishing you all the luck in the world to go shopping with 2 teenage boys Grin

We've survived the garden centre/soft play so the rest of the day should be fine. I've given them a gardening job and my mum has a pile of ironing to keep her busy too.

Hope DH feeling better book and that you get on with all your normal stuff.

How was the weekend Squirrel? and how are you doing?

Horse I don't like any DIY but we need to redecorate hallway, living room and stairs/landing!

Hope you're OK 84

bookbook · 13/08/2018 13:09

Afternoon all
DH is recovering thanks . He can't really do long stints sat or standing , and he just seizes up and gets very tired , but he will be fine in a couple of days, pottering around and getting his muscles relaxed again :)
84 - I am so impressed on you going to Rome by yourself!
Chasing - it sounds like a good weekend , time to be at ease with C , and see what develops .
MrsJ - delegation is an art!! Grin
Willow - well I do hope you can get a good soak as MrsJ suggested, and some anti inflamms too to put you back on your feet .
Tips for moving .

Can you get the keys a couple of days before you move? That would give you time to assess where everything is going, give it a good clean, and measure up for curtains, and where furniture will fit. It would let you take non essential stuff already packed too.
don't make the boxes too heavy!! ( By the way , if you can get to an old fashioned greengrocers , ask for banana boxes - they are very sturdy with a separate slide down lid - very useful for pots. )
parcel tape and felt tip marker - put a bit of tape on every box, write on the tape what is in the box, which room it wants to be put in
try to get your exH to do the washing machine un plumb and re plumb if possible
I can't remember if you have a stand up freezer ?if you do , empty as much as possible, - it will need 24 hours stood up after moving before you can switch it on .
Have a last minute box of kettle /milk/tea/coffee/ squash /cups etc for making a drink when you get to your new house - have it in your car for the journey
I make some sort of casserole/stew/ thing which is ready to eat on the night with jacket potatoes/crusty bread , so you don't have to get up and sort anything food wise. ( I cook it, freeze it, then just take it out to defrost on morning of move ) - also re lunch etc - do a pack up maybe ?
Leave a cleaning stuff to hand at old house to do a last sweep ( so to speak ! )
Thats off the top of my head - bound to be more when I sit and think :)

Willow2017 · 13/08/2018 14:47

Afternoon all. I survived but only just. Am seriously aching.
Miracle of miracles 1st pair of shoes and trainers for both fitted!!! Had nice coffee and silliness with them in cafe. Was an age in argos as they had to phone vax and check every inch of bloody vacuum and finally after sales woman nearly breaking her fingers removing a connecting bit (that i have never been able to disconnect) she found a blockage of hay and gp dried food! I was ready to cry with relief/embarassment as was so damm sore by then. Got more damm packing boxes and slunk out
Got shopping and petrol and home.
Now sitting with coffee and painkilers while kids put shopping away.

Might force myself to have bath later. These days i never soak in a bath as i dont find it comfy and i ger bored within minutes. I used to like a soak with a glass of wine, a few chocs and good book back in my young free and single days😁😁

MrsJ sounds like a nice morning and glad your mum is helping out.

Book hopefully will get keys early. Woman at housing association is someone i went to school with which was nice surprise. She said housing officer will be in touch to go view it and shouldnt take long. We stopped by the house to show kids on the way to town. Since 'google mapped it' the front is full of weeds😁😁
I have got my 'kitchen/1st night' box on my list to take with me and done the writing on the boxes bit thanks.
Have an upright fridge freezer. Have ice packs so can take essentials in cool box for pm/am.

Good idea re cleaning stuff for last check of house and the meal. Thanks.
I am considering taking the bathroom cabinet which was made for me and is much bigger than normal ones. I did say to all viewers that i would not be leaving it so do you think it will be ok? I think they will gut the place anyway as thats thier 'thing'. My house is not modern enough for them at all.

Ex says as i bought the living room carpet myself recently i should take it as probably would fit a bedroom not sure if i could take it up never mind carry it to car!

Still raining off and on between drizzle and very heavy and very foggy along the coast road.

Chasingsquirrels · 13/08/2018 18:11

Good shopping trip Willow, and even if you were embarrassed 're the vax it's fixed at no cost so that's a result.
I agree with your ex on the carpet as long as it's not replacing one originally there - and if it was maybe ask the LL as if they are going to gut it they probably won't mind.
Would ex help you move?
And the cabinet, if you brought it (or it was there "before" of you know what I mean) then I would take it
Hope the aching passes, I'd try a bath x

Good that you have put your parents to work MrsJ 😂.

Having a very low calorie day today as I over-ate on holiday 😁 had one last Thursday as well so another one this week and a couple next week and I'll be back to normal.

Rain again here today, I was fed up of all the dry bits Charlie was bringing in on his fur but the wet is worse!
I used to vacuum once a week but am now doing downstairs (he isn't allowed upstairs) daily and with the rain am mopping every couple of days as well. He has just been digging under the trampoline so I've hosed him down and he is drying off in his bag.
Work manic, I've been off for 2 weeks, in this week (boys with their dad) then meant to have next week off when they are home, but have some one off urgent stuff so might end up doing a couple of days next week. We didn't have any plans and it still gives me 3 days off with them, plus work are pretty flexible with me so I don't mind.

Well today Mum and I...........FACETIMED JUSTIN FLETCHER !!!
Wilf went to see him at Dreamland and arranged a Meet and Greet for he and his friend. I told Justin what a fan Wilf was and thanked him for making sign language so accessible to all of us....

MrsJonesAndMe · 13/08/2018 21:23

I don't do baths either Willow

Squirrel I'm sure you don't need to worry about your weight too much.

Glad to see you're back 84 Wilf looks so happy in the pictures.

Willow2017 · 14/08/2018 07:57

Morning all.
All ready to go to hosp soon for my scan. Fingers crossed the frusimide doesnt work too quickly while i am stuck in the scanner😁😁

At least its stopped raining.

Have a good day all.

Willow2017 · 14/08/2018 08:01

My 'weed'😁😁

Feeling positive about the future after DH died
Chasingsquirrels · 14/08/2018 08:30

We were right about your weed being a hollyhock then Willow, lovely! Is it in the garden or a pot?

Sounds fab 84.

MrsJ I don't worry about it particularly, I just use the v low calorie method to maintain and lose a bit when I put it in. It's not much but it made my trousers a bit tight and I don't want that. Plus I feel a bit sluggish when I've over eaten for a few days and a v low calorie day sorts that too.

Willow2017 · 14/08/2018 09:16

Its in a pot with 4 other things Squirrels 😀 everything was put into pots i managed to rescue when they ripped my plants up. Think i pulled out another hh thinking it was a weed when it was small😐

Oh well there is always next year.

84CharingCrossRoad · 14/08/2018 13:35

scummy SCRUMMY

Blush]

Horsemad · 14/08/2018 18:23

Watching DS2 play footy - we are on the coast; another few steps & I'll be paddling! 😂😂😂
It's going to pour down in a minute. Hmmm.

How did your hospital appt go Willow? Beautiful hollyhock, great that you rescued it. Smile

bookbook · 14/08/2018 18:37

Evening all!
Willow - hope all is okay with the scan . Lovely frilly hollyhock :)
I would take the cabinet as it is yours. Re the carpet - mmm - I think it would be okay, if there is carpet to replace it with ( ie the one you took out) , but either way , see if you have a local carpet fitter- they may well take it up for you and refit for much less than a new carpet would cost .
84 - yay! - I looked at your thread, Wilf looks so happy!
I love a good soak in the bath , always been a relaxing place to read!
Horse - paddling !! freezing water !!! Grin - it does look as if we should have some rain, but we had an absolute downpour last night which was good.
Chasing - all that extra work for a very small dog ! :) Sounds like you have a bit of a busy time over the next couple of weeks - work never gets done by the fairies , does it .
Its been a gentle day - a trip to the market and library , ironing ( boo ) and some crochet . A trip to the allotment , and the simple joy of the first sweetcorn cobs of the season, which were utterly delicious .

MrsJonesAndMe · 14/08/2018 19:52

Hope you're OK all

Been busy here! Lovely plant, Willow

Good Squirrel you looked lovely in the pic you posted Smile

Willow2017 · 14/08/2018 20:55

Evening all.

Scan was fine dont know when i will get results maybe next week when i go back for my cystoscopy😀 was a weird feeling getting the dye injected in like a fkush all over and then feeling like you were hoing to wee but they warned me about that.

Work busy and hot. Am working tomorrow and sat now. Make up liss of hoyrs on sun but not looking forward eo tomorrow as will be ignored all shift. Ho hum.

Did a bit more packing before work and phoned utility company about a refund and about moving.

Friend at work popped in and she knows someone getting rid of an extending table for free so that's good.

Book i dont have the old carpet but might just ask ll cos of they are going to get rid any way they arent losing out.

Willow2017 · 14/08/2018 20:57

Horse hope you got home before the rain.😀

Elderflower14 · 14/08/2018 21:31

Hi. 84 here. Due to various reasons I've name changed....

MrsJonesAndMe · 15/08/2018 13:08

Hello all

84 I hope it's not due to the idiots re: Justin/Mr T. Wilf is such a lovely boy.

We're good, met up with my new baby who starts 2 days a week in September. Not much else going on.

Hope you're all OK. Good luck with it all Willow

Willow2017 · 15/08/2018 18:19

Hello all.

Work busy enough to keep us busy plus actually had a small bit of conversation so not too bad Wink

More packing on return, not much left in my kitchen except food and dishes we use! Still seems so much to do though. Need to get my filing cabinet on gumtree and my greenhouse glass. You never know!

Elderflower hope you didnt get hassle on your thread, thats just mean. (But there are some awful people on her who just like to argue for the sake of it without any justification at all)

Sooooo hot and oppressive despite the clouds, some sunshine, and now rain. Need another shower after all the packing! Tea is on then more packing. Did I mention I liked things done 'yesterday'?

Aww new baby thats nice MrsJ hope they settle well. I had one who I had for the exact reason that they didnt settle without mum at all (more than one actually but one baby in particular) and it was awful, nothing you did would soothe them, had to really take it in small doses and get mum to collect sometimes, and just when I got to the stage when they relaxed and were fine mum decided as they were now fine they didnt need me any more! All that work!

Hope you have all had good days, not working too hard Squirrels and Horse.

Book we have had a great crop of blueberries this year from our little bush, and our alpine strawberries. Somebody at work mentioned that the blueberries from the supermarket were very bitter this year, ours were lovely Grin Nothing like your allotment of course (which sounds like way too much hard work tbh) but we are happy. Grin maybe next year we can go back to growing our own veggies in our new garden?

bookbook · 15/08/2018 18:50

Evening all!
Elderflower - hope you are okay , but a lovely name :)
Willow - ooh, maybe with your own garden, you can have a veg patch or raised beds!! You can only pack so much before you are sitting on boxes, and eating off paper plates - hope you get the nod soon !
MrsJ - does that mean you will have two babies come September?
I was at my craft club this morning , then after lunch was at the allotment, Since then I have been doing a bit of sewing. I had made DGS a reversible sunhat , and DD liked it so much , I have made one for her today ( its a multi size pattern ) . I picked some plums today, so I have made an upside down cake with some of them to have tonight - very naughty really , but hey :) . Also got around to moving stuff around in the freezer - its getting rather full, and I still have things to make to freeze, so a proper tidy up was needed, and overflow stuff banished to the freezer in the garage, which is also now full. Must make some more jam .....Grin
Crochet beckons this evening
Have a good night everyone

Elderflower14 · 15/08/2018 19:28

Unfortunately yes due to the trouble.... 😪 😪

MrsJonesAndMe · 15/08/2018 21:53

Hey book Well the current 'baby' is 18 months and this one will be 9, so not too bad till I add in the 2yo boy that's also coming 4 days a week

Ready for the parents to go home now Angry My mum said she can't just sit around doing nothing... I got her to do washing up, clean a corner of the kitchen I never get round to, hand washing, do ironing, walk to the shop for stuff and butter buns/make sandwiches and wash up again FFS

Willow2017 · 15/08/2018 22:20

Aww MrsJ you will mis them when they are gone. My aunt was the same when she came to visit, (doesnt now due to helth problems) she baked, cooked and hoovered, played with the kids for hours she isnt one for sitting around being waited on either Grin

You will have your hands full!

Watched a bit of tv and have redone the 'bathroom box' and drawer into one box for easiness. Sooooo much stuff!

Am going to get kids to take their beds apart tomorrow to take to skip on friday as we are ditching them. They are quite happy to sleep on matress on floor (or on floor!) so should be ok. The beds are wooden, but big and have done them since ds2 was big enough to go into his own proper bed! They were bunk beds but came apart too. WIll be funny to see them go as they are covered in stickers from over the years (and still the original 'winnie the pooh' ones I put on as they wouldnt let me take them off Grin )

Book we wont be able to move soon, just a postage stamp left in my bedroom! Fingers crossed the back garden isnt all paving stones or a huge mess. Hopefully get to see it soon.

Still too damm hot! Apart from that glorious summer when I was young (and Florida) I cant remember it being so hot and muggy for so long, especially at night in years.

MrsJonesAndMe · 16/08/2018 07:18

I know willow so then I feel guilty Hmm

bookbook · 16/08/2018 08:39

Morning all
grey and damp here , and a day at home doing housework and stuff
MrsJ - however much you love them , and don't see them often , you are not used to living in each pockets anymore . Its very normal and even stressful - it abrades the peace of mind , so don't feel guilty feeling they are underfoot . Are they here for much longer? Can you arrange a couple of day trips out for them ( not with DC ,) which might appeal . They may also feel the same, and be glad of a bit of space . (hugs) you are going to be busy in September !
Willow new beds too - a real clean sweep! - btw - I don't know if this would apply to you , but our local council give discretionary B & Q vouchers to help towards redecorating /furnishing when moving into a HA house - may be worth an ask?
Have a good day everyone
