Feeling positive about the future after DH died

Just starting off before we hit 1000 on the last thread...

The power has just gone off. Heard a crash upstairs and rushed up thinking that Mum had fallen out of bed but oh no she'd swept the entire contents of the bed side table on the floor!!! Relieved doesn't begin to cover it!

Phew, I HATE that when there's an Almighty crash & you go racing to find out what's happened...

Hope you all got some sleep. It certainly has been lovely to escape the heat a bit.

Heart survived that scare 84? I hate that happening too. Well, had better get did and DH up. Need to pack up and clear out. Did I mention that mil managed to give herself and DH food poisoning? Silly woman though I had the sense to steer clear of the delights of her fridge and the kids had fish fingers and chips and shop bought cake.

It was an unbelievable storm , wasn't it Horse - not seen anything quite like it , and it has just started raining again.

MrsJ - food poisoning , urgh , poor DH -( clever you though ! )
I'm just trying to get motivated a bit , a few bits to do before we go out .
Quite excited about going to look at buying a new sewing machine today ( Is that a bit sad? ) I have been enjoying my sewing again , and though still going strong, my 40yr + machine is not up to doing some of the things I would like to do .
Just need to zoom down to the allotment to pick marrows courgettes , and see if the water butts have filled up overnight and all is well !

Yes Book we had plenty rain😀 but annoyed i couldn't see the 'blood moon' due to clouds. But i didnt turn into a werewolf either so that's a bonus 😉

Neither ds2 nor i slept much.last night due to heat. Ds2 tried sleeping down stairs but came through to my room at 4 saying he couldn't sleep. Ds1 argued with everyine at bedtine which prob didn't help. Am going to have words with school about thier explaination of 'the rights of the child'😠 Chores and pulling your weight and doing as you are told is not bloody child abuse nor contravene your 'right' to do exaclty as you damm well please!

My aunt phoned earlier she has a stomach bug been up half the night so that's the visit postponed. Oh well jam making it is and housework pah!

Good grief MrsJ how did she do that? What a way to start a holiday!

Suppose i had better get moving.

There was a fermented looking salad in there - she had some and was ill by morning, DH had a taste to go eeew how disgusting does that look and was really poorly for most of it really - hardly eating.

We've made it To FILs and he's not in, not sure what's worse. My parents miss us so fucking much it's a bloody kick in the teeth really that his cant be bothered....

Glad you've all enjoyed the rain and cooler weather.

A new sewing machine sounds great book

Morning everyone.

Chocolate blondes with raspberries sound lush 84, glad the 3am painkillers sorted you out. And that your mum didn't fall out of bed.

We didn't get tickets for the open air show last night (loads Thursday evening, 4pm Friday looking fine and dry, went online to book - no tickets. 5.30pm Friday torrential storm and I was thankful I hadn't booked!). Went to see Mamma Mia instead, very enjoyable - plus a little extra after the credits, someone else had mentioned it so we waited and were the only people left in the cinema.

Poor DH MrsJ hope he is feeling better now and grr at FIL, upsetting for your DH.

I tried to post this early and my phone froze but I'd copied it (and just added the bit about your FIL) and now I can't remember what everyone else said - off to dinner now, will try and catch up later.

She came in shortly after, watched a movie with the kids and read DS a bedtime story...guess that makes it ok.

Parents arrive in 11 days.

Had an excellent night's sleep last night.
Went shopping yesterday to the hospice shop. Bought my friend a 3dvd Elvis set. My Mum an Andrew Lloyd Webber CD and myself the Dvd of Scent Of A Woman. Haven't seen it for years! Got all 3 for under £1!!!

Morning.
Wet and cooler here today. Off to work soon keeping fingers crossed bad weather will maybe make it less busy today. If its non stop for 9 hours i will be a wreck.

I did get my sewing machine Chasing :) - well sort of - I have to go back to pick it up, as they sent me off with the wrong model ! ( tried it out , then they gave me an unopened one to take away. Didn't realise until I opened the box to get the manual out ...) ah well, delayed gratification .
But its lovely and cool here, and raining - slept so well, I woke up late !
A full on day as everyone is coming around ( hint - its my birthday ) so people arriving soonish I think , then we are all out for a meal at our local Italian tonight .

It was so much cooler this morning that I decided to bake. Made a Quiche Lorraine and then Jam Tarts with the leftover pastry and then made Courgette Orange and 🥕 Muffins with Orange and Cream Cheese Icing. Mum and one of my friends went BLEUGH at the thought of the muffins and several others want to be guinea pigs for them!!

Happy birthday book I'm glad you're going out rather than having to cater for all on your birthday. What a shame your sewing machine wasn't the right one. Bet you're itching to get started!

We are home, done the unpacking, washing load one - can't do more while it's so wet, and got a roast in the oven. Ah.... that's better.

I'm good thanks MrsJ, glad you are safely home. Washing machine going here too, 2nd load just finished and about to empty it then put 3rd one on before we go to my parents for tea once the boys are home at 5pm.

Work hell on wheels for most of shift. Boss man being a complete arse as he cannot handle the stress when we are so busy and blames every one else. Its pathetic and very nasty side to him.

So much for it being cooler! Rained all day but roasting hot like working in a sauna. Not doing 9 hrs again unless they are absolutely desperate.

Late to the party but Happy Birthday book

Busy weekend here but enjoyable. Work tomorrow and DS1's GF going home too. She made a fab dessert today, really easy - biscuit crumb base, cream cheese with a couple of spoonfuls of icing sugar stirred in and some Strawberry Bailey's added, along with chopped up strawberries. Top with squirty cream & sugar sprinkles and serve in a small sundae dish.

Quite sickly but lovely too! 😁

Willow I hope you've all got it off your chest and a lovely meal too. Hope the garage bill wasn't too eye watering. My car, DH's car and his bike are all due MOTs. His car went in today failed mine on Thursday expecting it to fail and he's going to see if he can book the bike for some point this week will pass as it's pristine
