Hello All, back to work after a good weekend. I made it to DS's meal but didn't eat like I usually do!

Off to London tomorrow to watch the RAF 100 Birthday Celebrations, bit excited about that as I do like my planes! 🛫🛫🛫
DS is also going but he's driving as he has to go elsewhere straight after. We're on the train, fighting with all the commuters... Hmm

Not sure what we have planned for the afternoon, definitely a picnic lunch in one of the parks & then maybe either the Shard or the Monument.
Weather forecast is good, so hope nothing changes Smile

Willow2017 · 09/07/2018 20:16

Evening all.
Sounds like a good day tomorrow Horse like planes too we are musding our local airshow celebrations😐

Went down a slate mine today bit nippy but nice change from baking😁 The guide was fab very knowledgeable and funny. It was an eye-opener re some stuff i didnt know about mines. Treated myself to a nice mug and some welsh liqueur 😀

Missed the train train ststion nearest car park is only short stay so drove to porthmadog but it was practically closed at 4pm! Ended up coming home as nowhere at all to eat in. (Had a look in tourist shops that were open Horse no luck.)
Went to co-op to get tea. Legs are aching again. Ears have never popped so much but scenery lovely. They should consider viewpoint stopping places like in the highlands. Thats one reason i wanted to get the train😠

Willow2017 · 09/07/2018 20:19

Oh and quadruple bends really? No need, no need at all😉

MrsJonesAndMe · 09/07/2018 20:39

Hi all, time for a proper catch up!

Ah 84 I'm glad to see you're back to posting. What is Wilf going to get up to after leaving education? Glad you could FaceTime while your friend was there.

horse that sounds like a great day out - I'm sure it will stay fair out.

Willow make sure you rest as well - it's your break Grin

Squirrel that is quite daunting a thought to meet the parents Wink Glad you're just going with flow with things. From here it all sounds good.

book I ate my own home grown beetroot tonight - so proud of myself. You must be rushed off your feet with it all going on large scale.

Been a long day - only 9 days of school left, so lots left to get organised before we go away. Haven't really thought about any logistics!

Horsemad · 09/07/2018 21:11

I am right out of the loop re school terms - saw the school bus the other morning & wondered why it was there! Thought it was already school hols! Shock
Have completely lost touch now my DS2 has left & I'm not ruled by them!!

Willow2017 · 09/07/2018 23:27

84
Sounds like Wilf enjoyed his surprise. Whats he going to do now?

Forgot to say ds2 was picked to 'blow up' the cavern wall in the mine. Lot of nouse and smokey dust😀 the guide showed us how they dressed the slate and gave ds2 the piece as a souvinir😀

Have had my tiny bottle of liqueur (a lot less than it looks like😀) looked at the receipt and realised i had been charged for something i didnt buy! Luckily its only £2.50😁

Feel like someone took a naseball bat to my calves. There is a big step down from kitchen to conservatory...you should see me go down it...just throwing myself down its ridiculous😁😁😁

Thought we could go on great orme tomorrow surely that will go well? Thats if i can actually walk🤔

Loving the t.v. watching csi and ncsi back to back every night😀

Willow2017 · 09/07/2018 23:29

Chasingsquirrels · 10/07/2018 07:55

Sounds like you are having a fab time Willow, so pleased, wrll apart from aching legs!

Nice that you got to FaceTime Wilf with your friend 84.

The last couple of weeks of the school year always feel tough MrsJ, so much going on.

Morning
Lovely and a lot cooler, thank goodness
just sitting down for a quick cup of coffee. Have been to the allotment this morning from early doors, picking and watering (- never -ending watering! ) . But now is the time to make the most of it after all, thats what I am growing it for!
Off to the market for my usual fresh stuff, and the library.
Baking some courgette and cheese muffins this afternoon, a gooseberry pie and making more soup. Hoping to see a bit of Wimbledon if possible in between that and ironing ...... :)
Willow - you will have calves of steel by the time you get home , but sounds great .
Horse - that sounds fantastic, been seeing the news about it . Good to hear you managed the meal ( almost!)
Have a good day all !

Willow2017 · 10/07/2018 17:46

Evening all.
Been up on the Great Orme. The tram was fun. (Food not so much i had the thinnest driest bit of fish i ever saw. Ds2 had a perfectly fine piece!)

Ds2 got a scrapped leg when a bit of GO fell on him! at the fossil 'quarry' !!! We cant go anywhere without at least one health disaster🤕
Wandered around shops and spent too much money in the sweet shop😁 (Still no luck Horse. Will maybe get back to Colwyn bay and find that shop again)

Pass the gooseberries Book i love em😀

Cooler and more cloudy today but still warm.

Chasingsquirrels · 10/07/2018 18:37

Had an amazing day, battery about to run out!!! Back later! Grin

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/07/2018 20:26

A stick of rock????

Looked amazing on telly, sure you had a blast. Did Lizzie invite you in for a cuppa? Wink

Goodness willow just wrap them in bubble wrap!

Very productive day though nothing to show for it really.

Can you send some stuff for my freezer book?

Horsemad · 10/07/2018 23:23

Back! Grin

Aah, it was such a great day, the weather was a tad cooler so better for everyone. The aircraft were fantastic, there were loads of people watching. It was lovely.

We climbed The Monument afterwards, 311 steps & boy do my legs know about it! Grin

Got home about 9.15pm, and saw it on the news!
Just about ready for bed now, I will definitely sleep tonight.

Not a stick of rock MrsJ Wink

Willow2017 · 10/07/2018 23:35

Ha ha MrsJ i wish it was i could get her a thousand sticks of rock! Good grief they even have boozy ones. Anyone for buckfast flavour?

Btw dont get the salted caramel fudge its vile. Sickly caramel fudge with salt on top felt sick after tryng it. Even with the salt scraped off its yeuk.way too much salt.

Been chilling out with ds2 and t.v.. put washing away. Up early tomorrow hopefully off to Chester zoo. Watch the news folks one of the tigers will probably escape 😂😂😂
311 steps thats as bad as Edinburghs Scott's monument. I gave up at almost the top and let dss do the last few feet to top. My poor legs.

Hoping i will sleep before 1am tonight. Its roasting hot again tonight.

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/07/2018 13:36

Hi all

A busy morning and currently listening to overtired screaming from upstairs! Argh, hate it!

Paperwork mountain making progress.

Hope the zoo is lovely - not been to Chester zoo. It was much cooler here willow

horse it sounds like a fabulous day!

Hope everyone else is good.

bookbook · 11/07/2018 15:07

quick dip in !
been busy this morning, washing/ironing etc
I was on hold to see if DGS needed picking up this afternoon , but luckily wasn't needed.
So - I got gifted about 10 lbs of gooseberries last night, so I am now sat watching tennis while topping and tailing so I can make some jam . I am going to make some curd too. Given a couple of lbs away to an old friend, and will freeze the rest .
Hope everyone is well - its hot again here ....

Chasingsquirrels · 11/07/2018 16:01

Horsemad · 11/07/2018 18:29

Mine too Chasing, haven't been for years now.

Luckily a quiet day at work (I am SO tired after yesterday!)
At home now and waiting for 🍕 before the football. Although brought up in Wales, I am English, so have to do my duty & support the team Smile

Lots of gooseberries, book! I love them, prefer a crumble to pie though.

Hope the screaming calmed down for you MrsJ Sad how much is left of the paperwork mountain now?

84CharingCrossRoad · 11/07/2018 18:46

Now about to watch the ⚽.
One of the boys I used to serve school dinners to has gone into Love 🏝!!!!! ShockShockConfused

84CharingCrossRoad · 11/07/2018 18:46

Forgot to say. Made scotch eggs and cheese and onion pasties today!!

Willow2017 · 11/07/2018 19:48

Back 'home' again. Nice day out but could cheerfully have left kids there by the end😠 arguing winding each other up, moods, sore legs! I am 100 yrs older and have more sore bits than both of them! But saw a couple of staff we recognised and all the animals especially the elephants. The baby elephants are soooo cute. Also baby rhino, okapi, warthogs and others. Tv crew filming the meercats for new series cant wait.

AND...we went through the bat forest😲 i have a phobia about 'flapping' wings but i was determined to do it (ds1 teasing me which backfired on him) but it was awesome. Kids were more scared than me although one did skiff past ds1s face. The fruit bats are Huge! I loved it even in the semi dark. They flew past very close to us, all sizes and once your eyes got accustomed to dark you could see them on branches really close up. Another 'wanna see' ticked off 😀

Stopped at a services and found an American diner😀 had the milk shakes to end all milk shakes and food.

Horse passed the turn off for your 'home turf' on way back😀

Got to put out recycling bins tonight mustnt forget. They are very precise about the recycling here 😀

Hope its all calmed down MrsJ and you get a relaxing pm.

Stop teasing me with gooseberries Book😀

84CharingCrossRoad · 11/07/2018 20:21

@Willow. Wilfred has been obsessed with 🦇 for sixteen years! We took him to London Zoo and ever since then he has been wild for them.
I too have a flappy phobia and I too did the 🦇 walk but at Longleat...

Willow2017 · 11/07/2018 21:17

84 we were at longleat 2 years ago but bat enclosure was closed that day i was gutted. Used to have bats in my parents attic loved watching them leaving every pm😀 but they up and left😐 the bats i mean😁

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/07/2018 21:36

I didn't do too much, but a bit every day approach.... she just whinges while she goes off to sleep, but it's still not nice. Now it's men shouting at the telly!!!!

Not sure if I want them to win or lose!
