It's been raining here since yesterday morning and is forecast to carry on raining until Thursday!
Not usually a wet part of the country so when it does rain we aren't used to it.

Lazy morning yesterday then tackled the spare room as ds1's German exchange partner is coming this week. Unfortunately this meant addressing John's clothes which have been dumped in there along with other stuff.
Lots of tears but by the end I had gone from having no idea how I was going to get rid of stuff to having bagged up aboutb6 bin bags full, cleared his drawers, stuff in spare room wardrobe and part of his wardrobe. Just need to transport it to a charity shop now. Still have some stuff in his wardrobe - suits, and things he brought over the last couple of years which are all in good condition. But I feel progress has been made.
Need to finish off sorting the spare room this morning once I get going.

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/04/2018 12:00

What are you cooking/baking book?

I've been out and planted some beetroot, basil, corriander and did some seeds: rocket/lettuce, onions, nasturtiums.

Boys off for haircuts after lunch (I will go with to remove the small and get him in the bath) and then we're going out for a bit of fresh air legoland

Good luck Willow that sounds so exciting Grin Wink

Hope the forecast is wrong squirrel

Just back from the allotment, having 5 minutes while DH makes lunch. Its still dry, but grey and a rather cool breeze, but got a lot done. DH and I may well go back to do some more thais afternoon.
MrsJ - well, a traditional with a twist is what she requested - so spiced beef brisket, which is then cooked in a BBQ sauce , roast potatoes yorkshire puddings . Tomorrow I will pick asparagus and sprouting broccoli.
Strawberry Souffle for pudding . And I am going to whisk up some chocolate muffins as something to put a candle in :)

Chasing - what a time to have to do it, but how brave you faced sorting stuff out . I hope it was a bit cathartic, but probably more sadness than anything. Its like saying goodbye again I suspect Flowers and ((hugs))
Horse - but think of how much better you will feel once its done ! Grin

Well am back at work. Have made a jam Tart, sweet and sour chicken (with a jar of sauce in the slow cooker) and also a minced beef pie. I went to the shop before I went back to work and there were sachets of peppercorn sauce so I mixed that with the mince and onion and put puff pastry on top and bottom. Have vacuumed the house and washed the kitchen floor. I'm now watching the racing and waiting for the floor to dry.... And breathe.... Smile

84CharingCrossRoad · 28/04/2018 16:07

Chasing When I tackled Wilf's dad's clothes many years ago I got quite a fright. I opened one drawer and was confronted with a starting pistol and a flare and completely lost it. The guy who used to be Wilf's Link Carer was a retired Police Superintendent. I rang him in complete hysterics thinking I was going to be arrested. He calmed me down and told me to ring the firearms at the police headquarters. A very nice retired officer came out and had a cup of tea. Turned our he worked with the link carer before they both retired! He took the gun and flare away with him and they were destroyed I think!!

Willow2017 · 28/04/2018 17:48

84 that looks delish, especially the tart😀

Horsemad · 28/04/2018 21:42

Shed sorted! 😀

Flowers for you Chasing, that must've been really hard Sad My mum didn't clear my Dad's stuff for years after he died and every time I went home, I'd open the wardrobe door and inhale... Sad

Hope you get the garden share sorted Willow, not sure I'd like that, couldn't relax properly.

Hope your DD has a lovely birthday tomorrow book; can't beat a good Birthday tea. 😀

And 84 - that food looks brilliant. I've been dieting this week and actually dreaming of food!!! Shock

How was Legoland MrsJ? Was it dry? We've had rain all day so not the best day for shed sorting, but we got it done!

MrsJonesAndMe · 29/04/2018 07:19

Well done horse

It was soggy and busy. We just got our passes sorted and had some tea there really so that was fine.

Hoping it stays dry so we can get out to a NT property this morning. Need a bit of civilisation Wink

Catch up with you all later, have a good day. Special (((hugs))) for squirrel guess, you will feel fragile today x

Chasingsquirrels · 29/04/2018 14:02

Hope you all have a good birthday tea book.

Didn't find anything unexpected 84, although to be taken it already been through everything - but just tidied and replaced. Hope your over nights went well.

I couldn't be bothered yesterday so have finished sorting this morning, got the boys to take the bags out to the garage and the spare room is now ready for our German guest at the end of the week.

Been out for a walk with Charlie and the boys then dropped ds1 at his girlfriend's and back home with ds2. Lunch then we have just made brownies.

bookbook · 29/04/2018 20:38

Evening all
Finally sat down - DH just tidying the kitchen .
Been a busy day, and I'm whacked , but can relax now.
84 - that all looks wonderful !
Horse - can you come and sort mine now? Grin
I've just seen the weather forecast for tomorrow - its horrid, where is spring?
Nothing much happening tomorrow - a general housework morning , then usual pick up of DGS .
Night everyone !

MrsJonesAndMe · 29/04/2018 21:08

It's looking dire! Maximum of 5 degrees, wet and windy Sad

I've been a busy beaver, but not going to get any quieter as the week goes on. Working tomorrow, meeting at school after tea about the school trip in a few weeks time.

Any pudding left book? Wink

Well done Squirrel - it can't have been easy.

Sleep well all and have a good Monday.

Willow2017 · 29/04/2018 21:28

Evening all.
Survived work 😀 only problem is they have hired another new staff member so any chance of extra hours just disappeared. Way too many staff on today for hours but boss in good mood again so ok.

Not so great at home😀 major row with ds1 over what they have been doing/not doing. Need a chat again sigh.

Got to take ds2 to school tomorrow then shopping and work.

84CharingCrossRoad · 30/04/2018 07:47

Horrid weather here today. Looking forward to tomorrow. Leaving about 2.15 to go to Wilf for his award ceremony.... Staying over at friends guest house and coming home leisurely on Wednesday morning.
Last year I went home the same night and got home at 12.15am. Was like a zombie the next morning!!
It's my ladies birthday tomorrow so will make a birthday cake for her and drop it off tomorrow morning. Have got a doctors appointment in the morning. He asked to see me after my CT scan re kidney stones. Obviously not urgent or he would have asked to see me straight away....

bookbook · 30/04/2018 09:48

Morning all!
Well dry here ( looks as if we may just miss the rain) but very windy, and due to get worse.
so sorry MrsJ - pudding all went ( I did them in ramekins, and did 2 spare ... they got eaten too !)
Willow - I suppose they are being trained up for the busy summer , so good and bad really for you , especially re overtime .
84 that sounds lovely , and wise to stay over- I'm always wiped after a very long day. Hope the drs appt goes well for you
Chasing - It must have been hard this weekend, but the new week will hopefully put you back to calm again before your exchange student arrives .
Hoping Selena is okay, and not having to drive home in this weather .
Well, kitchen calls - fridge to clean out and floor to mop.
Then a trip to the PO to post off to WH , and pop to the allotment to shove bench into shed so it doesn't blow away !
Have a good day everyone

MrsJonesAndMe · 30/04/2018 13:57

Just about surviving - catch you all tonight x

Willow2017 · 30/04/2018 14:52

Surviving too Smile

Shopping done, washing out and miraculously still sunny.

Been sitting quietly for a while just chilling with a cuppa. DOne my road tax online as after getting the mot certificate I forgot to go to PO this morning! How much extra to do it online? I thought it was to save time and money!
Checked out bus timetables - no buses from school town to village after 9am till school finishes so ds1 will have to hang around at school for an hour! Got txt about ds1 being expected at school tomorrow for his extra courses they are running and an info session on one of the extra courses tomorrow am but it doesnt say if its for kids or parents! No-one answering phone at school either. Why do they make things so obscure?

Was very indulgent this morning and spent a lot longer on my coffee and croissant and book than normal, working 4 days in a row I reckon I deserved it ha ha. (Need something good first to face the shopping marathon Grin)

84 that sounds like a plan, have a lovely time both of you. Hope GP appoint goes well.

Lovely sunny day here too but very cold wind. Wondering if washing dry yet as have more to put out! (surprise surprise)

Take it easy, catch up later. Wish me luck finding my way home tonight, main road closed and have to go back roads I havent been on in donkeys years, I am following one of the other staff as close as I can getGrin

84CharingCrossRoad · 30/04/2018 16:07

Poor Wilf has had a bad day. Sad
He does his work placement at a local supermarket in the cafe. He was pulling a trolley of crockery when the wheel jammed. He managed to pull the whole lot on himself.
Thankfully the staff were great but he is very upset and shaken......

Willow2017 · 30/04/2018 20:37

Oh heck poor Wilf. Hope he feels better this pm. Hope he didnt hurt himself too badly.

Work ok but i f*d up sat getting the wrong bread out freezer apparently. The staff were talking about it and i completely forgot i was the one working not someone else. I will inform boss next time i see her and offer to pay for the sodding bread😀 apparently they went crazy about it. But its never been mentioned to me in 2 days by boss! And person blamed was on sun with them so why not tell me when i went in!??! Such petty stuff yet i could report them to H&S and Food Standards a dozen times over but that doesnt seem so important. 🤔 and dont get me started on other stuff like swearing and arguing when customers can hear them and tmi more!
I learned stuff tonight i didnt need to😝😲 How the other half live eh?

Ll were out busy in garden today appatently they are ripping out one of my flower beds and making veg plot! (Will ask them which one) and making another border round the grass. The bit i thought the wanted for veg they are paving for seating area. Its all going on here!

Rant over hope you all had good days working and otherwise.

MrsJonesAndMe · 30/04/2018 21:20

Oh no Lottie, poor Wilf. Hope that you are both OK.

Argh Willow I don't understand what you even did wrong, but what the hell? Hate unprofessional staff who talk about their personal lives or gossip when they should be working/serving.

Busy day here of course, but all done and another square for my blanket done. Need to get on with Annandale's squares too.

Willow2017 · 30/04/2018 21:29

mrsj
I got brown bread out not white! Maybe they should leave the freaking light on in there so we can see? But its cheaper to leave it off and it takes about 5 minutes to come on!
It was things staff who have been there for years told me that happens in summer!!! Basically to warn me! I need a new job pdq😲

Well done on your squares. Dont your hands get sore with all that repetitive work? Mine would.

MrsJonesAndMe · 30/04/2018 21:56

Oh - crime of the century Willow Hmm

I don't do too much crochet as it would niggle my wrist, but mostly OK.

Night night all, sleep well x
