Evening all!
Just got back in from committee meeting , after an afternoon of attempting some engineering work at the allotment with DH . I will just say - it was windy, and it didn't quite go according to plan ....
Willow - hope the job stress isn't causing the sleeplessness - you've reminded me , I need to book an eye test .
MrsJ - ooh, it would be lovely to see you! I have been booking accommodation ( scandalous prices Shock ) , and getting a little bit excited to see everyone !
Hope everyone else is okay

MrsJonesAndMe · 17/04/2018 20:59

Wouldn't stay the night! Not tooo far from us. Now to talk to DH...

SelenaValentina · 17/04/2018 22:20

Hi all!

Tortoise not ventured out today as too wet - sensible her. I did Path Lab Run - just 6 miles today, then walked to post office to send tracked letter to that scam lot. Hope it shuts them up (and down).

Last project that I have to do something about in clearing up terms, MrsJ, is garage door, due in 3 weeks. I'm fine, thank you, wobble now and again but (just about) holding.

I'm not too impressed with Aldeburgh either, book. Nor Southwold for that matter. Bit too twee for my northern soul perhaps.

Spinning in morning - if I get up! Supposed to be beautiful weather? 🤞

Horsemad · 17/04/2018 23:12

Think decent forecast here too, fingers crossed. Sensible tortoise Selena 😁

My new boss has started - jury's out!!! Grin I am not sure they are going to fit in but time will tell! Bit patronising and rather smug/pompous... Hey ho!

MrsJonesAndMe · 18/04/2018 06:38

Ah ha horse new boss Grin

Yes, meant to be good today - can see the sun! Laughing at the "only" 6 miles Selena Hope you enjoy spinning and a hot choc.

book I have a ticket and we're going to stay in the Premier inn the night before Shock Just need to book the room today. It's my birthday the week before, so I'm using it as my treat excuse

Must go and get ready for the day - see you all later!

Chasingsquirrels · 18/04/2018 06:59

Lovely day here yesterday and today is looking like another.

People take a while to bed in to new jobs horse so see how it goes, hopefully it takes some pressure off you anyway.

Selena sounds like a sensible tortoise. Completely with you on the ups and downs and getting on with it.

Cake sounds like something to look forward to ☺

Willow2017 · 18/04/2018 08:43

Morning all.
Dull and drizzly here again.

Horse hope the new person shapes up and makes life easier for you not harder. 'patronising and smug' are not good qualities when you are the new person!

Selena 'only 6 miles' ! Ds2 got a watch that I think does steps on it (not a fitbit) from a friend who got a new one, when we find the charger I might use it at work just out of curiosity but I doubt it will be 6 miles Grin

Going to homebase as the super glue I got the other day obviously wasnt sealed properly its just sticky gunk in the bottom of the bottle! Might have a coffee and a read of my book too, nearly finished it already.

Minor panic at txt from ds2 yesterday. They have put the bus fares up and school either didnt know or didnt bother telling anyone! Luckily driver let all the kids on who didnt know for the usual fare. They went up while kids on holiday so how were we supposed to know?

Have a good day folks.

bookbook · 18/04/2018 08:55

Morning all!
well, still a bit grey here, but there is just a hint of sun breaking through
Horse - mmm hopefully new boss is just feeling their feet, and will calm down on the patronising ( smug is not so easy ...)
Selena - your tortoise sounds like a better weather forecaster than the professionals! enjoy the spinning :)
MrsJ - oh, lovely , what a treat to get to meet up . :)
Willow - I get the feeling nearly everything has gone up recently - a few pence here and there, but across the board.
Chasing - hope you are getting the chance to enjoy the weather
Well, off to my craft club this morning. Not sure what the afternoon is bringing - it should be doing more work at the allotment , but DH has a Drs appointment sort of in the middle of the afternoon,, so not sure if its worth starting, to have to stop mid way . Will see how DH feels about it.
Now, just need to pop some washing in , and get myself going
Have a good day everyone

Willow2017 · 18/04/2018 11:31

Well i did indulge myself at cafe. Hot almond croissant straight out oven, pure heaven and before i knew it i had been lost in my book for 3/4 hr😁 got shopping and swapped glue and got oil for car (how much for that little bottle?) Need to get hoover out and hang washing but as we have had a shower (of what looked suspiciously like sleet on the car windshield) might hang back a while. And my book is calling to me to finish it😀. Decisions decisions🤔
Have gp appoint later to discuss scan results straight after school pick up.

MrsJonesAndMe · 18/04/2018 12:41

That sounds heavenly Willow - carbs! I'm being quite strict on myself at the moment.

What numpties to put prices up without telling people!

Hope you enjoyed your morning book and all OK with DH. Yes, I know...scary thought to meet some of the names you see on a screen.

Today has been much calmer than yesterday. Hoping it stays that way as I'm beat!

Check in tonight.

Willow2017 · 18/04/2018 14:15

Duh! Its not my gp appoint its kids haircuts! Numpty! Ds1 will be pleased..not😀

Chasingsquirrels · 18/04/2018 16:54

Sleet Willow?? It was 25c here when I left work just before 3pm.

Ds2 home from school at 3.25pm and a quick change and out to roller skating, picking up friend's daughter on the way. We brought Charlie with us and I've been for a walk with him and now waiting for them to finish skating.

Ds1 home later, should be around 9pm so not sure whether to go to Bridge or not st that finishes at 9pm in different village about 10 mins away. Have texted to ask if his flight is on time but no response yet.

Hope DH is okay book.

Relaxing evening deserved cake.

84CharingCrossRoad · 18/04/2018 20:12

Lady rang me back from the train company yesterday morning and we had a very frank discussion. She admitted they let Wilf down and she apologised.. She agreed to refund Wilf's return train fare and in future they will make sure there is a designated meeting place so Wilf has somewhere to go to........

SelenaValentina · 18/04/2018 20:32

84, that sounds positive at least. Let's hope they stick to it!
Horse, new person bit of a twit to be like that already, unless she's nervous (benefit of doubt).

Yes, agree everything has gone up but not telling parents about bus fares seems peculiar.

I'm on phone so can't check who said what, sorry! 😞 Cleared itself out after gloomy start here. Thought of you book as I faffed about in garden. Butchered hedge again, then attempted to sort out 2 planters. DS arrived and carried sand through so I filled the flood holes on back lawn. Worth a try and very therapeutic - though exhausting. 😑

Supposed to be cooler but lovely tomorrow. We can but live in hope. 😎🌞

MrsJonesAndMe · 18/04/2018 20:54

Hello

I have relaxed with yoga and fruit salad Hmm Shock

Selena that sounds like back breaking work! Meant to be even hotter here tomorrow... have prepared myself with a bit of self tan so I don't frighten the general population Grin Blush

Hope the children survived haircuts willow

Sounds like a busy day Squirrels

84 Hope that they stick to it. Glad they owned up!

Willow2017 · 18/04/2018 21:37

84 thats goid news hope they stick to it.

Selena busy day no wonder you are tired!

Ds1 not impressed as of course he had plans online with friends😀 have kicked him off pc now and he is doing his dishes he never brought down at tea time and making his packed lunch sarnie. What a bad mum😉 you would think (if i believed him) that none of his friends ever lift a finger at home😀 give me strength its a constant battle. Every time i ask him to do something his first response is "Why cant ds2 do it?" "Whats ds2 doing?" Arghhh. Next is shower and hopefuly actually use shower gel (he thinks i am so dumb i dont know when he actually showers/just gets wet😁😁) i remember a friend saying a few years ago her son could spend half an hour in 'shower' and come out dry and i laughed...oh but its true!

Of course it nevet rained again (it was very white 'rain' on my windscreen very strange) warm then cold and very windy now warm again.

Yoga mrsj i would be hopeless at that with my creaky ol joints😂 fruit i could manage. might be eating choc now though

bookbook · 19/04/2018 11:22

Morning all!
glorious here - just got back in from a stint digging and manuring at the allotment. Didn't dare stay too long, as need to go back this afternoon with DH for cage construction part 2 . I'm hot and red of face ....
Just been rather tied up with other stuff the last couple of days, so read the posts , but a bit wiped to post in truth.
So - I hope everyone is having a lovely sunny day - back later ( probably on my knees ...!)

Willow2017 · 19/04/2018 14:07

Afternoon all.
Pottery day here. (as in pottering around)
Hoovered, cleaned out hoover, tried again then gave up and washed filter!
Other bits and bobs, wahsing etc nothing too glamorous! Its a glorious day here, was too hot to do much Wink Off to work soon but should be ok if boss leaves when I arrive as usual!

DS2 told me this morning about next years school trip. Better start saving Smile its to the Euro Space Education Centre in Belgium!!! How much? Ds1 will not be going though, he has had his trip and no way can I afford both of them to go. Sounds like a lot of fun though, wish I was going Smile And they have a castle torch lit tour and a workshop in a choc factory.... not fair.
Better get the deposit paid today so he gets a place.

Have a good day all, hope you arent too tired this pm after your labours on the allotment Book. Look after yourself.

84CharingCrossRoad · 19/04/2018 14:11

Mums gone away for a few days to visit my niece and her family.
Ive got my neighbours coming for dinner. Am doing chicken curry, rice, bombay potatoes, and cucumber raita. Then Jaffa Cake Trifle for pudding!!!

SelenaValentina · 19/04/2018 16:40

Gosh book if you're whacked, not much hope for me!
Willow, hope work a dream rather than nightmare. Euro Space sounds great - any chance of financial help from school? I know can happen round here - deprived area classification, not sure if that makes difference.
84, can we all come? Sounds yummy.
Hope manager improving Horse.

Beautiful day, cleaner worked her magic whilst I bought romaine lettuce for Barnaby, ham and chicken for cats as lovely neighbour comes across to cat cuddle when I'm away. Faffed in garden nails a mess again despite gloves. Or does it help to wear them, not just get them out? 😀

SelenaValentina · 19/04/2018 17:58

Well that's summer been and gone 😎😂. Now clouded over and rain forecast for foreseeable future. ☔and mac for hols!

bookbook · 19/04/2018 18:42

Afternoon ( Evening?) all
Much better now, got a lot done , cage frame coming along a lot better toady, so nearly done .
got some bits of housework out of the way too .
Selena - I always wear gloves for gardening, but still manage to get clarted everywhere in soil!

Boo hoo about weather - we have another nice, but not quite so hot, day tomorrow . ( It was 29º on my car readout Shock )
84 - that sounds wonderful .
I have just pulled the first rhubarb of the year, so its almost healthy to have poached rhubarb for pudding ( if you ignore the ice cream that went with it Grin )
Willow - hope work goes okay. That sounds like a fab trip for DS2 !
MrsJ - saw your squares pop up on facebook - they are lovely :)
Horse and Chasing - hope you are okay
A bath, and some gentle crochet tonight. Trying to catch up with a couple of bits before they ask for help at WH for constructors :)
Have a lovely evening everyone

Ooh, I love rhubarb, absolutely adore it! And gooseberry.

Very hot here today, new boss was complaining about the heat!
