Hug for Selena too.
We picked the wrong damm week to be off. Snow snow rain rain all day.

Looking forward to the cake pics mrsj glad you got out and about. Its harder with older kids as everything they want to do us outdoors! ₩

Willow2017 · 02/04/2018 22:00

Don't know what that is at the end!

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/04/2018 06:35

Grin computers have a mind of their own....

Chasingsquirrels · 03/04/2018 07:29

Out with John's family last night, which I think is what had me feeling particularly low yesterday. Had a nice meal but ds1 was a sulky teen. MIL came too, think it's the first time she has been out of the house since her fall (apart from back to hospital via ambulance) and she was looking lots better, although very frail and old. 1st time kids have seen her since she fell and both commented afterwards on how much older she seemed.

Not done much else, rain stopped by about mid morning so ds2 and I took Charlie out then despite having lots I should get done I just relaxed.

Hope everyone is well.

bookbook · 03/04/2018 09:12

Morning all
Its not raining , its dry and bright, if cloudy !
Chasing . The weather plays such a part , I agree with Selena -and then dealing with sulky teenager too - could well be the same problem, just shows differently. At least MIL managed a trip out thoughyou do tend to notice how frail they become - its as if a fall knocks the stuffing out of them.
Willow hope it dries up and you can get out and about this week.
MrsJ - wow on the squares - going great guns!
Hope everyone else is coping .
Off to the market this morning , then pick DGS up this afternoon. Tomorrow looking dreary, so need to have a think as to what to do with him. I was going to take him to a local petting farm and lambing place, but I think I may have to scrub that idea. I can only take so much mud ... :)

Morning all
We Had late roast 'Easter dinner' last pm and i sat up very late watching tv so actually had long lie this morning.
Everything wet and a bit drizzly still.

Book we have a farm park near here which is great for kids. It has those big family bike/karts things you peddle. These days kids do the peddling round the park and i just hang on for dear life😀 its got a proper small train which we love too (cant remember the guage) but not much fun in the rain or when everything soaking so you cant sit on it. Shame for them too as they do a big Easter egg hunt, lamb and kid feeding etc. We love all the animals its just a very cold place if wet and windy and muddy. Weather forecast last night was not promising for several days.😞

Ds2 just stopped eating halfway through his brekkie as his stomach feels odd! He has a heavy cold and sore throat so maybe just that...fingers crossed. Hopefully going for some shopping and a coffee with kids once i get moving.

Stull have the 'trying on clothes' with ds2 to do. Yesterday did not go smoothly re thier bedroom blitz. Fell out with ds1 within minutes so i didnt help them like i planned so it took hours. Of course him being tired as he was on pc half the night didn't help! He ended up asleep and i stayed out the way. Why do they have to make things such a big deal and drag it out? They could have done it in half the time! Got fed up saying you havent done this bit, why are these still on the floor etc etc😠
Did explain the delights of the washing machine to ds1 though, i get the feeling he wasnt impressed but he can get used to it😁

Have a good day all

Chasingsquirrels · 03/04/2018 14:21

Hadn't thought of that book, thank you. That's another crap thing about all this - no one to bounce parenting off, John wasn't their dad and didn't really parent them himself but he did support me and point things out to me that I was too close to see.

Anyway a better day today.
Took the boys shopping, went to Sports Direct first as ds2 wanted some gel soles before I braved town for jeans for ds1 who has ziltch interest in clothes or shopping. Ended up getting the jeans from Sports Direct as well, a couple of t-shirts from Tesco including one on sale and then school bits and crap we didnt need from B&M so didn't need to go into town at all Grin.

Chasingsquirrels · 03/04/2018 14:23

Don't know what happened then but at least it posted rather than losing my post.
Was going to say Hope you are having a bitter time with ds1 today Willow, and a well deserved lie in ☺.

Wet days and small boys aren't the best combination book, mine used to love baking with grandma plus kicking the bowl afterwards.

bookbook · 03/04/2018 14:28

we have alternative plans dependant on weather . - I went and looked on the website, and the animal bit isn't open anyway!
Glad to hear it is better today Chasing
Willow - if DS has a horrid cold, and sore throat , it could well cause bad stomach - I know it does with DH - all the gunk drips down into his stomach instead of out IYSWIM ... .
Off to pick DGS up now, so will be busy regardless
Have a good dal everyone

I'm all Lowryed out have spent most of the last two days finishing off my talk!

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/04/2018 16:37

Hello all - seems to be typos galore and I tried to chop my finger off last night while slicing bread, so I'm not doing great at typing either Grin

Can still crochet though! Square 13 done. Maybe I should take the plunge and do a whole blanket myself for the Snug hugs! Eeek.

Wet tomorrow here too but Thursday meant to be dry before we set off for Wales on Friday.

Willow patience of a saint! Hope you managed to do something for yourself today.

Extra hugs Squirrel I know that DH also doesn't parent too much, but it's just being able to talk it through. Shame, poor MIL Sad

When's the talk 84? Wilf home for the holiday at all?

Hope the week off going well horse and sending you strength to support your friend/colleague Selena

I've had new born cuddles today (well 4 weeks)

Cake pics to follow shortly....

Fabulous!

Chasingsquirrels · 03/04/2018 17:22

👍

Willow2017 · 03/04/2018 17:24

Awesome cake mrsj bet they love it.
Your poor finger hope its not hurting too badly.
My patience wore thin i am afraid. I pushed him out the way mid attitude rant (he is taller and bigger than me so didnt actually hurt him a bit just shocked him into shutting up) and told him exactly what i thought of his attitude and behaviour. Then drove around for 10 minutes to calm down. All fine later. Have told him we are going visiting tomorrow and no argument from him for once.

Glad today is a bit better Squirrels

Went shopping and to cafe with ds2 and watched TWD with him when we got home. Just realised the time, spose i had better get tea started. Still raining off and on here feel like i should start building a boat😉

84CharingCrossRoad · 03/04/2018 17:37

Talk is on Thursday night. I'm doing a day visit to see Wilf next Weds so we can see Peter Rabbit...
He's very lucky as the cinema near him is in the Picturedome group and the tickets are only £2.50 each in the week and not much more at the weekend. They do a lot of subtitled performances too....

SelenaValentina · 03/04/2018 20:03

Gosh MrsJ, that's brill.
Willow, he's pushing those boundaries which is expected - but infuriating! Hopefully he's realising you mean it.
84, sorry, I thought you'd done the talk! Sure it will go well.

Patio totally finished, hurray, just as well as poured down most of morning. I waded out into flooded back garden to see if tortoise appeared later on as sun was out. But no sign 🤞🤞she's OK. It then started raining again 🙄.

Cheers to everyone.

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/04/2018 20:38

Thanks all, did half Victoria sponge and half chocolate to please everyone. Have half left over and half of each sponge in the freezer which I'm contemplating turning into a cake for MIL as we missed her birthday/Mothersday etc with the weather. Halo

I want to see Peter Rabbit too!

Glad it's done Selena - where is the sun???

Sending you virtual hugs/strength and a slice of Cake for you Willow

Willow2017 · 03/04/2018 21:06

mrsj thank you.

Selena yeah its all finished
Now all you need is weather to use it😁 hope tortoise is ok. I wish i could hibernate sometimes 😉

SelenaValentina · 03/04/2018 21:33

Now raining again, sigh. Think tortoise has it right, Willow. Disappear when colder, appear when warmer, kind humans offer warm bath, lettuce, tomato, water, dandelions on grass Blush and own house (if not grown out of it, needs extending). Plod around. Disappear again.

We'll help you out, MrsJ if MIL not interested.
Hope your day's gone well, book, horse, 84 too and everyone too.

bookbook · 03/04/2018 21:54

Evening !
just put darning needle down ( sewing things onto crochet squares - don't ask!)
All well here but boy did it shower heavily this afternoon.
MrsJ - gorgeous cake, but poor finger :( - hope it heals quickly . And go for it with making your own blanket - it's a great idea.
Willow - hope DS1 realises how hard it is for you, bringing them up as a LP . Tomorrow is another day - with luck it will not rain !
Selena - you finally got rain! - but at least all the work is done on the patio :)
84 - good luck for the talk on Thursday - that would terrify me!
Chasing - you read my mind - a bit of baking tomorrow to make a pie ( and probably those hard grey little tarts after too much work and fingers in pastry ! Grin )
Well, early bed for me - he's an early riser compared to me ( but not MrsJ's DS )
Hope you are okay Horse
Night all

MrsJonesAndMe · 04/04/2018 06:48

Morning you lot. Stayed up till gone 11, DS was restless, DH had a nightmare and awake before 6...

Good luck with the holiday entertainment book Invaluable to train them in baking when young Wink I might just do a blanket. Will see how it go.

New day today Willow hang on in there.

I hate the thought of public speaking too!

Willow2017 · 04/04/2018 07:46

Morning all.
Restlesss night here too. Woke at 4 and 6 and 7! So up for a cuppa then shower and prizing ds's out of bed 😀
Still bloody raining! Not great driving weather.

Ds1 apparently couldn't remember agreeing to visit last night so had usual excuses why he shouldnt come but he is coming. Gets him out house and off pc and being a bit sociable😁

Catch up later.

Willow2017 · 04/04/2018 12:01

Got 5 mins fron destination just in time for rain to turn to snow! Still snowing heavily. Enough already we want to go out to eat!
