Morning all.
Well i am up to take ds2 to swimming but nobody else is!

Drama havent done anything its just where my sciatica has taken up residence😀

I will be around NYE too as dont do anything either. Watch the edinburgh celebrations on tv is my limit these days.
Dull and damp here so may just skip edinburgh and take xbox into local gaming shop to get fixed.

Ds2 ready so catch you all later.

Willow2017 · 30/12/2017 09:08

Well so much for that! Pool is open but what it doesn't say in its 'festive open times info' is that there are no lessons its just open!

Good start to the day!

Chasingsquirrels · 30/12/2017 09:27

Am VERY cross with ds1 whose radio alarms were set for 6 and 6.15am this morning and very loud. He hasn't had them on the last few days for himself so must have set them to wake me - particularly not nice given I'm not getting enough sleep with Charlie anyway - whom they also woke. Came downstairs, gathered him up and went back to sleep with him on ds1's big beanbag.
Have sent ds1 a cross message and will be having words when they come back.
Suitable "punishment"?
I don't really do much in terms of discipline as they are both pretty good lads most of the time.
I'm thinking tech withdrawal.

Yes it's annoying about plans but not done on purpose to exclude me and it's just one of those things. I've never been big on NYE anyway.

Sounds like a good afternoon book, we love Canasta and I've heard Cards against Humanity is funny but not played it myself. And can't resist an after-8 either.

I've just eaten the 4 left over little belgium chocolate biscuits for breakfast (!!) and now I'm feeling sick. More because I've eaten reasonably quickly after waking up than it being biscuits - breakfast always makes me feel sick.

Also enjoying the complete break from work, I'm back on Tuesday and already know that January is going to be manic.

%%/ Willow* what a pain!

HoHoHorsemad · 30/12/2017 10:10

That's annoying chasing, do you think he meant to set it for himself for yesterday morning and got it wrong?
He doesn't sound the type to do it mischievously... Has he replied to your text?

And Willow! Grrr on your behalf, you think they'd mention lessons weren't on, wouldn't you?!

I am still lounging in bed (lazy!) the window is open and it's cold! I am too warm and snuggy to get up and close it though Confused

Quiet day for me today I think, little bit of tidying. DS & girlfriend off to London tomorrow for a few days and she will fly out from there, so today is her last day with us.
I think she's enjoyed her time with us; I hope she has!

Chasingsquirrels · 30/12/2017 12:10

He said he had set it for himself yesterday Hmm but did apologise. I don't know...

I'm sure she had a lovely time with you horse

OP posts:
NotAChristmasCakePop · 30/12/2017 13:49

Oh no Squirrel that is just the thing that sets you over the edge isn't it? DD was drawing something for her dad 5 minutes before we had to leave. She's been here a week and was there for 3 days before that, so could have done it then!

Willow that is very annoying! Our swimming people are useless in organisation too.

Horse I hope you didn't get frostbite Wink "Warm" here but a very strong wind. I'm sure she likes you.

Bum now firmly on the sofa!

bookbook · 30/12/2017 14:54

Afternoon all!
breezy but bright here after a damp morning.
Felt a bit bleurgh - probably due to too much food later than normal for me, so didn't sleep too well, then slept in.
Done very little, but we have had a brisk walk to some friends, to give their DS a small present ( honorary aunt/uncle ) had a chat and a cup of tea , brisk walk back. Feel more me after the fresh air.
Drama - hope you enjoy the sales, and the rest. I think when you have been very busy/under stress the bugs get to you, so yes to needing time to relax and enjoy some quiet time before you need to jump back into work.
nothing worse Willow - what a waste of a journey , give that poor hip a rest.
Chasing - mmm I think I would give benefit of the doubt -but only you can guess that . Definitely get him to do something that shows contrition though, (even if only of thoughtlessness )
Cake - she has form then , but over and done with at least.
Horse - you have welcomed her into your home, I bet she has enjoyed it. :)
Right , off to make a coffee ,and pick up some knitting
Have a good rest of the day everyone

SelenaValentina · 30/12/2017 15:11

Hi everyone.

Must be alarm day? I put mine on for what I thought was 8, 7 20 it started, I didn't dare (bash) turn it off completely as felt zonked, so reminders for 20 minutes till I gave up. Did mean I got to spinning this morning with time for boost of Brew, afterwards I walked in to meet friend for another Brew. Grey, breezy, chilly, damp/wet day so now back home with the aim of finishing chocolate, biscuits etc.

Soupmaker arrives on Tuesday, Hermes have made a mess of delivery, apparently. Aldi have now decided to have one this Thursday, does all the same things bar Smart, and £40 cheaper. Hmmm. Though it doesn't look as sleek.

Keep warm and hope the day gets better for all.

NotAChristmasCakePop · 30/12/2017 17:15

I think I need to get back into routine because Quality streets for breakfast etc etc etc isn't doing me good either Blush

How annoying Selena though I guess that means you have time to find more recipes?

I could happily go to bed now, but guess that's not really acceptable!

Willow2017 · 30/12/2017 18:30

Well that was a funny ol day.
Nipped into town with xbox. Wont have the part till next week and bit steep to fix but better than waiting for ex to have time to come fix it.

Selena i got the magnesium spray to try. Fingers crossed.

Decided to go to Edinburgh after all. Discovered all the hills a couple of miles north of us white with snow and inches of it lying further up!
Not long at the xmas market when the rain came down. Spent a fortune on rubbish food, had a look at all the lovely things i would like but dont need then gave up and went back to station for a proper coffee before getting train back to park and ride then home. Couldn't even go to cinema as would have had an hour to kill.
Just home and txt from work saying i am working Thurs as usual and did i want to work extra shift saturday. There goes the weekend😀

SelenaValentina · 30/12/2017 20:42

Hi Willow

Feels quite odd when you spray it on. I'm fairly sure they say don't rub it in hard, just smooth it. Whether it works totally or not, it can't do any harm and again, one of those that you, or at least I and others I've talked to, notice when you're not using it. Plus it lasts for ages.

I've found it a strange day too - slow, nothing quite working as normal. Odd the last couple of days of the old year, regardless of how the actual year has been, good or bad. Just me, or is it a thing?

I've perused the TV guide for tomorrow night. Jools Holland as usual, with a 'star line-up' Xmas Hmm . Surprised they haven't dug out/up Chas and Dave, Andy Stewart, Jimmy Shand and his Band, Kenneth McKellar, Val Doonican. Sounds like hot chocolate and a good book needed, for me at least.

Really, I can't remember ever a riveting night on NYE TV! Why can't we see the firework displays from across the world?

Keep warm everyone.

Willow2017 · 30/12/2017 21:52

I agree Selena its usually tosh. The princess st concert is sometimes ok but they dont seem to televise the whole thing.
Will be booking too unless something good on elsewhere.
Will try that spray when I go to bed.
Just noticed i am halfway down my bottle of Ameretto does that count?😀😀😀

bookbook · 30/12/2017 22:09

I remember Andy Stewart ...."Donald were's your trousers' oh dear, did you have to remind me! Its always been rubbish. I am sure they think we are all out 'enjoying' parties and such, when in reality here we always were fed up of waiting until midnight to see the New Year in and then go straight to bed Grin

HoHoHorsemad · 30/12/2017 22:28

Haha, Andy Stewart, there's a blast from the past! Grin

I usually go to bed early on NYE if we aren't out at friend's. I don't really like NYE, always feels like too much pressure to have a 'fun' time; we're not out tomorrow evening, so I will be in bed by about 10pm.

Willow2017 · 30/12/2017 23:02

Errrr excuse Me thats my cultural heritage you are disparaging I'll have you know.😁😁😁😁
Aww you gotta love Andy Stewart 😉

HoHoHorsemad · 30/12/2017 23:19

Mine too Willow (paternal Grandma was a Scot Smile )

NotAChristmasCakePop · 31/12/2017 07:09

Morning all. Another who don't have plans and cannot stand the fuss.

As children, we used to go to a party with lots of people from the farming community and it was wonderful - BBQ, dancing, kids all playing, but now it's just another night!

Raining at the moment and still pitch black. Going to take a bit of time today to set up a tracker for the month as it does help keep me on track; just stuff like glasses of water, fruit/veg etc

Check in with you all later x

Chasingsquirrels · 31/12/2017 09:32

Horrible weather here, the hens look miserable and Charlie didn't want go to out for a wee - but did when I went with him.
Not sure what I'm doing today ...

OP posts:
HoHoHorsemad · 31/12/2017 10:11

Same here, quite dark this morning and everything's damp and horrible.

We are taking DS & girlfriend to the station in about an hour.

Waiting on news about a relative in hospital.

bookbook · 31/12/2017 12:03

Morning all!
Absolutely gorgeous here . Sun, clear blue skies and 8º.
Unsurprisingly, I have spent the morning at the allotment, and feel so much better for it.
The rest of the day will be pottering and tidying, getting ready to take the tree down tomorrow.
hope the news is good Horse
right - DH is off to make me a bacon buttie :)
Have a good day everyone

Willow2017 · 31/12/2017 12:04

Very windy here but not raining for a change.
Going to attack the pile of ironing oh joy.
Horse hope your relative has good news.

SelenaValentina · 31/12/2017 13:25

Ooooh, gosh. Hope I didn't upset anyone re my NYE comments. I'm 1/4 Scot myself if that makes any difference (retreats from bullets) and I really hope A S et al not totally our true cultural heritage?

Beautiful here but freezing wind when out on prom.

Horse, hope news good.

Chasingsquirrels · 31/12/2017 14:09

Hope the news is positive horse.

Weather cleared up, so I've been out in back garden clearing and cutting back brambles, I did the hedge at the side of the house yesterday and am feeling quite enthusiastic about getting things a bit more sorted.
I'm going to hire a skip in the spring and clear out the side of the house by the shed which is a complete mess. Think I will have to enlist the boys help.
Then there are a few jobs around the house that I will have to find someone to deal with.

Family coming over this afternoon to play cards then I will go over there for a while this evening. Think I wore Charlie out this morning as he was reading around the garden with me, he has just dozed for the last couple of hours while I've mopped a d vacuumed.

Hi, we've made it out for a not very enjoyable trip into town. Now watching a DVD and I'm going to make a less boring meal plan for Jan. Bored of trying to please everyone, so going to please myself more (DH in his defence would eat anything I plate up)

Hope it's good news horse

Squirrel and book you both sound very productive!
