Hello

I've had a wet busy morning too. The new baby was here and I haven't lost my touch as I got her to sleep easily.

Sorry to hear you're having sleepless/restless nights Squirrel - like having a baby Grin How is the puppy training class going?

Don't worry Selena I change just in case the ex ever snoops around. Hope the decorator got on with his work. I am so bad at small talk.

Hope that poor SIL doesn't suffer too much book Glad to hear that the squares should be OK. I'll keep going.

Waves to everyone else Brew and Cake

Willow2017 · 20/02/2018 13:27

Afternoon ladies.
Busy morning here too. Made appoint for ds1 at gp. Took ds2 to school, straight to dentists, back put washing out as its actually sunny! Took ds1 to gp they were running half an hour late! Took him home and been for shopping. (And had coffee and croissant and a read 😀) got another load of washing to hang out then gonna sit on my btm till time for work😀
Ds1 hasnt got strep throat thank goodness but temp and viral infection. To stay off school till it improves (hopefully tomorrow). He almost lost his voice and still barking😀

Hope you catch up on sleep Squirrels i have been doing the same lately just permanently tired.

SelenaValentina · 20/02/2018 18:13

Oh poor you, Squirrels and Willow, I'm grim without sleep. Poor DS1 Willow.
Ah, alles klar Cake/Jones.

Decorator finishes tomorrow, he's really motored on. Carpet man now coming next week as really busy and wants to 'make a cutting plan' at the warehouse to make it easier for both of us. He zoomed in today to do final check of the meterage and layout.

I've been to Eye Consultant. Hurray, I don't need Botox yet (plus always a danger of looking like dead-eyed Dick if it slips Shock) and no new cataract cells are visible to him (Specsavers thought there could be). He explained everything very carefully (he did my cataracts 15 years ago so sort of knows me), says it's more that my eyes are quite dry, so discussed various eye drops/sprays, and this could show up on less intense equipment as cells. Who knew?

I must say, eyes tested, then 20 minute examination and chat, (coffee and biscuits on tap too Blush) all for £140 including follow up appointment in 8 weeks seems good value, if only for the peace of mind.

Now home and feet up. Sorry to those suffering with horrible weather, but it's been absolutely beautiful all day here.

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/02/2018 18:24

Gosh willow what a busy day!

Sounds like it was a very productive day selena Glad your mind put to rest a bit.

Ready for bed!

Chasingsquirrels · 20/02/2018 19:03

Rain or drizzle all day here.
Stuff mounting up at work, not sure my 4 hour days are sufficient, but will have to be for the moment as o can't leave Charlie for another hour yet and I'm using up all my extra time worked.
Had a moment at work, in the middle of talking about a job with the partner who questioned something that would have been John's remit not mine and I just started crying out of nowhere. I've been doing pretty well the last few months and it took me totally by surprise.
Had a nap this afternoon with Charlie then picked up ds1 from a school event.
No joggers as ds1 was back a bit late and the weather is miserable and the friend wasn't going, so just making tea.

A friend said the other day that it was still early days, and other people say this too, but it doesn't feel like early days to me - feels like forever and I'm at a point where I want to start moving forward. When does it stop being early days?

OP posts:
Willow2017 · 20/02/2018 20:42

Selena
Sounds like you got a good guy there. Good you know exactly whats going on and how to sort it. I have eye cream at night for my dodgy dry eyes.

Squirrels hugs (()) in the grand scheme of things it is early days but its also about how you feel too. It isnt cut and dried as you have discovered, it's gonna catch you out now and again. But its also good that you want to move on and should do exactly what you want to do not what anyone thinks you should do.

Work not busy tonight so actually got away on time. Everyone having a good moan about the amount of cleaning we are expected to do when its getting busier and owner is going to be told where to stick it if she doesnt wise up😀 i felt a bit yeuk for a while hope i am not getting ds2's lergy.

Ds1 still 'barking' and has temp. He has done some studying today though so thats good. His birthday pc arrived when i was at work so he is well pleased. Cant believe he is 16 in 2 days!

SelenaValentina · 20/02/2018 20:54

I don't think it ever will squirrels. I felt myself go today when telling the consultant's lovely wife, one of the hcp's there, who had said on my last visit that she had breast cancer, that sadly DH hadn't made it.

Eyes hot, voice breaking, huge wobble.

Later her husband also talked to me about the death of DH and we bemoaned the lack of communication, poor pain management etc. etc. Surprising that they had such a similar experience, considering they are 'insiders' and both high in their medical fields. She is doing well, which she knows because she took herself up to London for a full MRI body scan. Apparently she's dropped off the radar, despite 4 major ops, at our local hospital.

That's not lack of funding, that's downright inefficiency!

But I noticed a slight difference in myself from 7 months ago: I didn't resent that she is still here and DH is not. Not seismic, but a bit of a shift.

Chasingsquirrels · 20/02/2018 21:21

Hugs back at you both xx

OP posts:
MrsJonesAndMe · 20/02/2018 21:36

Hugs to you both Selena and Squirrels

Tried to do some crochet, but it just wasn't working - lord knows why! Just watching Shetland and then bed.

bookbook · 20/02/2018 22:34

Evening all!
just had a little argument with my phone deciding it didn't want to import my photo . I had to to faff around, but done now.
Chasing - busy and not enough sleep is not a good combination, not surprised you flake out on the sofa. Only you can say how you are doing - everyone is different , but it will never be easy I suspect (hugs)
Selena - what a good day that sounds - though I suspect the wobble didn't help - but your house is going to be so sorted :)
Willow - hope you haven't got the bug - barking coughs are horrid and painful . Good that you got away from work on time though!
MrsJones - baby whispering is such a useful knack ! Crochet can be like that at times , best to put it down and look another day .
I am not sure where the day went in truth - its been dry , and went to the market but I look back and wonder what I have done - bits and pieces through the day , committee meeting tonight, and a final knitted square for a MN blanket .
Tomorrow I am my craft club in the morning. Not planning anything for the afternoon, as I am stand by to pick up DGS - normally son in law does it, but not sure if he is allowed as he is contagious ...
Night all, sleep well x

bookbook · 21/02/2018 08:51

Morning all
Just running around a bit -we got the call to ask for us to pick up DGS this afternoon .So washing is in, and about to jump in shower.
As we need to go, we are setting off straight after lunch to get some bits done on the way - shopping etc.
Hope everyone has a good day x

Willow2017 · 21/02/2018 10:40

Morning all.
Having a lazy morning! Took ds2 to school and pottered doing bits and pieces. Washing to go out but other than that am being very lazy.
Keep thinking I should be 'doing something' Grin
DS1 still off been awake most of night, still croaky and barky!

Enjoy the day folks.

MrsJonesAndMe · 21/02/2018 13:34

Hey all

Survived new baby who is very needy, bless her and got lunch sorted, only for the 2yo to throw the biggest wobbly - decided it was bed time and have sat down for a bit.

Hugs all round for the tired, poorly and down and check in later.

Crochet going better today!

Chasingsquirrels · 21/02/2018 15:14

Afternoon all.

Hope you have a nice time with dgs book, if your dd is anything like me she will really appreciate how much you do, and the relationship you'll have with dgs as he grows will reflect your input - my boys have wonderful memories of grandma looking after them when they were tinies and have such a good relationship with her now.

Willow, it's probably just that 'there can't be nothing to do' feeling.

Sounds exhausting cake, although maybe a 2yo who has decided it is bedtime could just go to bed?

Just morning, home to Charlie and off to get my hair cut shortly - I booked it for 1 Feb which was a week later than I wanted as I knew I'd be too busy in January, then hairdresser cancelled as she was ill and this is the earliest we could both do, so it's desperately in need of a trim.

Then over to my parents for tea as they have old friends staying, so that will be good.

cake, Charlie "graduated" puppy classes with flying colours (well a certificate and a rosette) and I am now trying to find something for the next stage - I'd like a general obedience club but there doesn't seem to be any about round here so we are going to try ringcraft (showing) at the club we've been doing puppy training with and then maybe agility when he is over 12 months.

Hair trimmed, but very much "in and out" and not convinced it was money's worth - will see in the morning when I've washed and dried it properly.

Then popped to see MIL as her brother messaged me earlier a bit concerned after a phone call. She isn't great, but she is also old, frail and fed up. Not really much I can do.

OP posts:
SelenaValentina · 21/02/2018 18:02

Congrats to Charlie!!! squirrel, and you all too for the work you've put in. Difficult re MIL, is there no help around - day centre perhaps?
Not too sure about the 'so sorted', book, but I'll try. Grin
Willow, I don't care if there is something I should be doing (and there is, lots), I'm not doing it if I don't want to.

Strange day really, Water people came early, went off in bit of huff because stopcock not obvious to them (I've been told where it is, but forgotten Blush) and because they were early, I wasn't there anyway, although decorator was - (not that I'd have been any help!!). He got the impression they just wanted to be off. So to re-sort - and I'll hopefully be better informed and there.

Physio had to cancel as her children ill. Now going on Friday.

Been stabbed/harpooned by GP successfully. And decorator finished and paid so cheers all round! Carpet fitter possibly coming Monday.

And been another beautiful day Smile, so cheering. Hope the same for everyone.

Willow2017 · 21/02/2018 21:51

Evening all.

Well done Charlie😀 and his 'mum' who put in the work.

Work quietish. I made a misteak with till though jyst as boss came in to grab something to eat! They said just leave it for other boss in morning! Will throw my hat in through the door first😀
Came home to ds1 dramaticly being 'awful'. Ha!

Ds2 had made bread!!!! Some you tube video on easiest bread he watched. Wasnt bad for what it was and he had out almonds on it for me😀 sweet and no yeast in tbe recipie but lovely crust. Bless him.

We have been putting up baloons and bunting and banners for ds1 tomorrow. Need to up at sparrow fart as cake being delivered at 7!
Not wrapping his present its too big!
He is lying in dark and really needs to sleep as he didnt last night but temp normal again. He doesnt want to go to school as will get 'birthday bumps' on the arm and some of the kids do it as hard as poss. Dont know what the answer is. Dont want him hurt or losing his temper at the ones who get carried away...but he wont want me to say anything to school either. Argh.

bookbook · 21/02/2018 22:25

Evening all
well, another day zoomed by. Stayed at DD's somewhat longer than we thought, as son in law in no fit state to over see DGS until DD came home from work. He has now also got tonsilitis, on top of the CP Shock. So we got home a lot later than anticipated. Had our meal, I jumped in the bath, and been WHugging since then
Willow - oh, birthday bumps? poor DS - hardly a celebration is it - hope he has a good birthday regardless , and you all enjoy it . I love balloons :)
Selena , definitely nearly sorted! - Lucky you with beautiful weather - it showered here - once as I walked to my craft club ....
Chasing - that is a lovely photo - well done to you as much as Charlie for the rosette! I don't think much is going to help with MIL - I think there is a sort of mind set which takes over - my DMum got very fed up when she was too frail to enjoy doing the things she had always done before.
MrsJones - oh dear to the needy baby - hope that doesn't cause you problems - yay to the crochet !
Hopefully an easy day tomorrow - lots of catching up to do, but also a nice parcel to send off to WH , which is always a nice feeling :)
Night, sleep well everyone

Horsemad · 22/02/2018 06:50

Willow, Happy Birthday to your boy! Just realised, he shares it with my DS2 who is 19 today ☺️ It feels weird him not being here - first birthday we've been apart but he's home tomorrow for the weekend. 🎂🥂🍻🎉🎉🎉

Book, your poor SIL ☹️ I remember feeling absolutely dreadful with CP and that was without tonsillitis... Fingers crossed for a swift recovery.

Chasing, Well Done to Charlie! Lovely pic ☺️ I am sure you'll enjoy the next stage in his training.

Cake, hopefully the needy baby is just settling in. My needy 'baby' - the cat refused to eat her dinner yesterday because I'd bought a new place mat. When I removed the mat she ate the dinner...Hmm

Selena, please send some bright weather here!! I can't stand the dull dreary stuff we've got at present. All set to get colder at the weekend too apparently Shock

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/02/2018 07:03

Happy birthday to DS1

I went to bed at 9 Shock feel awful with this cold. Off for a shower and to get on with the day. Will see if my brain can make sense of the world later to read/post xxx

Willow2017 · 22/02/2018 09:31

Thanks Horse Happy Birthday to your son too.
Laughing at the cat suspicious, creatures😀
I can send some some sunshine but after yesterday's lovely day woke up to frost covering the world! And freezing cold too. And as i was up earlier the heating wasnt on so was blooming cold inside too.

Cake thanks too. Hope you feel better today. Needy babies are hard work have had a few in the past.

Birthday boy is back in bed. Came down to see his cake which he laughed at and loves and get calpol and went back to bed
Didn't even open his pc so that tells you something! He really sounds grotty and looks awful tbh. He didnt eat anything yesterday as throat too sore which is not him at all.

His dad is coming over later so thats good. He will help him set up pc.

Dropped ds2 off at school and been to morrisons for candles (and more coffe flavoured milk for someones sore throat😀)and pizza for thier tea. Pity i have to work but will have his cake when i get home.

Have a good day all.

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/02/2018 13:19

Hello, I'm feeling more human now might be the 2 hot chocolates consumed Blush

Happy birthday to your baby too Horse

Shame Willow he must really be ill, but I'm laughing at the calpol. You'd think he'd want something a bit stronger?

Well done to Charlie and hope you enjoy the next steps with him.

Eye roll at the cat - they are funny creatures!

I'm sure baby will be OK, she just needs to get used to it all.

Took a big bag of books to the charity shop, posted the WH which does feel good and got some stuff in to dry cleaning - my proper winter coat is filthy and we're going into London touch wood next weekend, so thought I'd better sort it!

My friend got the all clear from cancer this week too, so we're very pleased. Smile

Right, off to start a square so I can get on with it tonight while DD is at drama.
x
