Hello, i'm back. We saw each other and chatted like old friend for an hour and a half! She is so pleased to hear you're all here and mostly doing well. Sends all her love back. MN still not really her thing as she associates it so strongly with M's death...but she loves her Woolly hug.

I have yarn and a quiet hour! Lets see what happens!

Willow2017 · 18/01/2018 13:14

Glad Juan and you had a good ol chinwag Cake.

Well DS2 is off sledging with friends again, fingers crossed no more accidents Grin
DS1 is upstairs swearing at the xbox!

I have been looking at beds for the kids online after measuring up their beds and the room and am cross eyed! Will leave it for now and relax a bit before work I think.

Chasingsquirrels · 18/01/2018 16:37

9 vehicle incident on the A14 this morning and it was stopped, so it took me the best part of an hour to get to work through the centre of Cambridge. Hope everyone involved was okay.

Ds1 off school again.

Work still manic, home at 4pm and ds2 had taken Charlie for a work and just got back.

Hen house roof broke in winds a couple of years ago and now just has a brick holding it in place, so soon replaced. 3 eggs again today so it didn't upset them too much.

Good to hear Juan is doing okay cake and hope your hour with yarn went okay.

willow sounds like ds2 not too injured yesterday if he is out there again.

Afternoon all
sounds like a lovely meet up Cake , and good to hear about her.
Willow - bed buying is rotten, there are so many different types/prices, I'm not sure you ever know what you are getting really!
Chasing - oh that sounds horrible - it really saddens me when I hear of these.. Good to hear the hens are unfazed about no roof! Sounds like you could do with a sit down .
Had a good day here , hair is chopped, washing sort of dried , tea is prepped up . Sylvanian house is out of the loft, but will let DD2 open it . Found loads of her school work up there too, so we shall have a nice open and look time tomorrow when she gets here :)
I am doing a pedicure tonight , so one more thing out of the way ( well, putting a couple of coats of nail varnish on the toe nails in truth!)

Dreaded A.14, almost as bad as the M.6! And poor hens squirrels!
Glad you met up Cake and good to have a natter with Juan.
You've been busy as ever book. When do you actually go (with beautiful hair, nails sounds as though imminent)?
I'm debating whether to have a new mattress, Willow, think mine is well over the 8 year due date - by about double. Do I get a new base, what sort of mattress ...... At least you're more or less starting from scratch. So much choice Confused. Where you miss DH - again?

Started on the upstairs clear out, found my stride - get someone else to start on the worst bit (my cleaner's face lit up today when I suggested it, she's like a whirlwind) then I carry on. Weird, but seems to work for me.

Chasingsquirrels · 18/01/2018 19:24

I'm going to find getting a new bed hard too when the time comes Selena, John got ours when he first moved into a rental after staying with his mum for a while when he separated from his wife. We'd recently together and although he obviously needed a bed he always said it was our bed - then when he moved in with us he brought it with him - replacing the old double exH and I had got when we brought out 1st home together, so that would have been 18 years old by then - and ds1 has it now!
Current bed is in v good condition, it must be 6 years old - I can't see it being replaced anytime soon.

Hello, I am shattered, been awake since 02.30am ShockShockShock Something woke me (probably the wind, as it was FIERCE here!) and I couldn't get back off as I kept expecting tiles to come off the roof!

DH was snoring beside me and slept through it Hmm

It was dark when I left for work and also when I got home, so no idea if we have any damage but I couldn't see anything obvious (roof still in place!! Grin)

Early night for me I think Smile

Glad everybody else ok and unscathed by it all. X

Chasingsquirrels · 18/01/2018 19:27

Fierce here too horse - gusting and howling.
Hope you catch up on your sleep tonight x

OP posts:
bookbook · 18/01/2018 20:38

Evening! Just sitting still while the nail polish dries and watching the Hairy Bikers :)
Selena - we fly Sunday morning , so yes, not long.. Ooh , and your clear out upstairs going well - always helps to have someone to get going with :). It will be lovely to come back and have it all decorated and fresh.
We bought a new bed about 2 years ago. I spent a lot of time researching - did you know the older you get, the softer your mattress should be , but with support from the base. ( and it seems its a fallacy to have a firm bed for bad backs too) We ended up buying a frame bed, and bought a Dunlopillo mattress with a special topper. Best buy by a long chalk, as DH has such problems with sleeping Everyone suggests memory foam, but DH cannot abide it -he can't turn over easily , and you can get very warm indeed .
Horse - I bet you are shattered . I didn't her the wind- we had a lot of rain bashing on the window though. It is so depressing leaving and coming home in the dark - poor you.
Right - off to wrestle with some more knitting , or thinking hard about it anyway !
Have a good evening

Willow2017 · 18/01/2018 21:01

Evening all.

Horse hope you catch up on sleep its not nice waking up at that time.

Book thats good to know about the memory foam will avoid it as kids are always too hot!

Busy last half of shift am knackered.😀 being fed up with boss's blatent nonsense i have actually taken photos of the blooming urinal pipes so if she says anything on Sunday she can get lost 😀 she told someone about my 'bad cleaning' on sunday at lunchtime but nobody thought to say "but we have had customers in since 8am!" Even though they thought it!

Kids gutted school on tomorrow. DS1 holding out for miracle snowfall overnight😀 he just wants to spend another day on xbox with friends. He is in for a shock tomorrow he aint getting on at all.

I love a good clear out Selena but its good to get someone to motivate you, thats what i need sometimes tio.

NotAChristmasCakePop · 19/01/2018 05:45

Hi all. Up since 1:40 with vomiting DS. We dozed for half an hour but gave up by 4:30. Can hear DH snoring. DD has slept through it all thankfully.

We will also be replacing our bed sooner rather than later, so good do hear opinions/experiences.

Hope that everyone got sleep, especially Horse

Get job hunting Willow

Will check in later.

Chasingsquirrels · 19/01/2018 06:51

Morning all!
Bright and frosty here .
Cake - poor DS , and poor you it will be a long day
Willow -your boss Hmm - hope other jobs come up for you
For anyone who is thinking of buying a bed - one of the things I read was this Sleep Council advice
Well, I am supposed to be off to the allotment to pick veg, and just cast an eye over everything before I leave it to its own devices - it may be a bit later in the day now. I have the last bit of washing to do , and I have everyone for tea , so I might just make a cake - I have a lemon to use up, shame to waste it :)
Hope everyone stays warm and safe - have a good day x

Willow2017 · 19/01/2018 08:28

Poor you and ds Cake hope he is better soon and you can both get a nap later.
Schools open ds's gutted 😀 its only half day so bit pointless really😀

NotAChristmasCakePop · 19/01/2018 09:07

I was going to ask about this half day Friday thing before Willow how does that work?

We're OK-ish. I am heading back to bed as soon as DH is out of the shower - they clearly have the same bug as his stomach still painful, but manifest in a different way.

Have a lovely last day doing all the normal stuff book I'm jealous at the idea of cake and the holiday.

How are your boys Squirrel? Juan also got a puppy (well her DD)

Check in this evening!

Willow2017 · 19/01/2018 10:40

Cake they extended the school day mon -thurs and they finish at 1.20 on friday. they dont have a proper long lunch break like other days) they started it about 2 years ago.

Glad you are getting back to bed for a rest. Hope the bugs all bugger off soon.

Book lemon drizzle? Pass it around.

I am still in dressing gown been chatting on phone and 'doing' pop master😀 need to get motivated.

NotAChristmasCakePop · 19/01/2018 16:05

Oh OK, guess that makes sense. How long is their day Mon-Thurs then?

DS has had lots of liquid and a few bits of food. Has asked for pizza for tea Hmm Lets see how that goes.

Nothing else to report here, I've got a banging headache so guessing early night on the cards all round.

Hope everyone else has had a more exciting Friday x

bookbook · 19/01/2018 16:14

Hello!
Just finished doing stuff :)
I managed a trip to the allotment this morning, picked a great big load of sprouts and broccoli. Came home and hung out washing, all dried and ironed now . Prepped up everything for tea. Then wanted to get another special square done for WH .
Just waiting for everyone to descend .
Sounds like DS is recovering then Cake - hope the headache eases .
Have a lovely evening

Willow2017 · 19/01/2018 16:34

Cake Its 8.45 - 3.50

Wasted a couple of hours on pc setting up controls on xbox 1 i didnt know I could do Grin so ds1 cant play for hours and cant buy anything.
Have also discovered thats not all he was spending money on either that or the steam account on pc has been hacked. Anyway his dad phoned to ask about his birthday while I was doing it and said just cancel the steam account, end of. Easier said than done apparently you have to go through all this rigmarole and passwords and contact them and await them getting back to you so have put it on family settings so he cannot get online without me saying so. But apparently he can get online for 'bot' games just not people games! Been waiting for mindee to go then going to have a chat with him...not looking forward to this he will go nuts. Have also taken away the other game for xbox that he plays with his mates but apparently thats not the one he was on last night working himself up into a froth over...
Wish me luck...

SelenaValentina · 19/01/2018 17:22

book I've been waiting for lemon drizzle to magically descend? And thank you for the link. We've decided to get a skip after Easter, not imminently, so I can research now and bung the mattress in then (though you're not supposed to Blush but I will. Ever the rebel).
cake hope headache recovers for you too.
Willow I've replied to your pm's - sorry, didn't see.

Horse hope you've caught up on sleep and there wasn't any major damage.

Sounds like odd day for most? Weather still strange here, hail, rain, sun all day, freezing strong breeze. I've done a bit more clearing, now settled with hot choc, Louise Penny book - don't want it to end, but do want to know what happens!

Keep warm everyone.

Willow2017 · 19/01/2018 19:04

Well that went well😐
Wont say what he told me. It wasnt pretty to watch either.
He is currently trying to set up new account but without payment methods which isnt working so is giving all his stuff to his friend online to keep for him before they close the account!

Funny that he swore he was never acknowledging my presence again.... till he needed me to get on pc!
Selena ha you are so right flipping useless she was😀

Had a flurry of snow earlier hope it doesnt come back.
Ds2 has been invited to friends birthday party next week but only know where they are going well not exactly its a trampoline place and what time he is to be at his house! Need to get pressie/money for next week. Need to have his mum txt me with details. Never used to be this difficult you got invite with all the details not kids inviting each other through snapchat!😀

Wherrs thebcake Book def need some😁😁

NotAChristmasCakePop · 19/01/2018 19:09

big hugs Cake and Wine for you Willow I hope that one day you'll look back and he'll realise what he put you through!
