The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Go Sober For October?

Mouseface · 09/09/2017 15:55

Hello, 'tis me, Mouseface, welcome to the Bus, aka Gerarld. Smile

We're a bus full of various Babes, from those who are as dry the Sahara, those who drink in moderation, those who binge drink and can go for weeks without a drop and then fall arse over tit (pardon the french!) straight off the bus and into the sidecar, and then we have Babes who try every single day to give up.

The thing is, we all do 'this' ONE DAY AT A TIME and with passion too. You have to WANT to stop with every fibre of your being.

And that's what this bus is about. We support each other. No matter how many times you fall of the Bus, we'll always be here to scoop you back up and listen.

So, come and join us. Lurk, or grab a seat, make sure you're comfy and enjoy the journey as we talk about the dreaded drink, plus everything from how expensive Tena Lady's are, to what's in the slow cooker! Grin

We don't judge, this isn't a competition, it's our lives. Smile

And if you'd like to read the last thread, HERE IT IS

Plus, if you'd like to see where the Bus started out, you can RIGHT HERE

Hope to see you soon xx

By all means take a step back if you want to MsHoolie but don't feel you must, I reckon most people here have had a time when they have needed extra support or a place to talk so don't worry on that score.

Good luck with the next few days we will all be be when your'e ready.

Mint my little kitten cuddler, feeling any better?

MsHooliesCardigan · 17/10/2017 16:44

Oh God, I love kittens. They’re probably my favourite thing in the whole world.
There is a pet shop 5 minutes from where I work and I cannot restrain myself from going in and looking at the kittens.
These are the latest lot I’ve fawned over.

Eek! The black and white one looks just like my old girl did when she was tiny. I don't have a pic as this was in pre digital days. Gorgeous! I'd be pressing my nose up against the window every day!

MintToBee · 17/10/2017 18:30

MsHoolie
Oh my god! Send them to me! Look at the black and white ones face ♥️
And very well done on getting yourself heard and treated. Flowers

HemanOrSheRa
I'm so far resisting taking on a litter of four.
I have to stand firm!!

Lux
Still sick, I think I've got cat flu Wink

MsHooliesCardigan · 17/10/2017 18:47

Mint There were 4 tabbies plus the black and white one. I had to really restrain myself from buying him/her.

dementedma · 17/10/2017 20:16

guggs that made me laugh.
marfisa good to see you again
mrshoolie a very well done on your progress

spanna41 · 17/10/2017 20:20

Evening All Smile

Hoolies I'm so glad that your experience was positive and that you've got a plan in place Flowers please don't go anywhere keep posting on the lovely Gerald, we are all here to support you too Smile
Those kittens are so cute - I love a tabby! I've been looking at the rescue site where I got skinny dog and there's this whippet/jack russell puppy who is just adorable and I want to bring her home now! It's not feasible at the mo, but I can't help myself Hmm

Beaches hey cheeka, so good to see you babe and huge well done for you AF days - that's a gold leaf my love, keep going xxx

Mint puppies and kittens, this is the purrfect job Grin

Marfisa great to see you x

Shit day today but I wasn't dismissed which was certainly on the cards Sad I got a final written warning for an altercation where I was goaded and provoked - I can't decide whether to appeal, I could make it worse but this discipline will be on my record for 12 months and it will be hard to get a new job in my field whilst it's on there Sad The thought of staying in a job that I'm not happy in for the next year is filling me with doom. Sigh, hurumph

Ruby hope you've had a good day Smile

Must dash and get DD2 from gymnastics, I'll be back later....

doris9034 · 17/10/2017 22:09

Well there we are - my first AF day in a very long time - and it actually wasn't that bad! Thank you all so much for your lovely hugs and kind words yesterday - it makes such a difference Flowers
Hope Every one else had a good day Flowers

guggenheim · 18/10/2017 06:51

spanna right that's 12 months of research, cv polishing, networking and job searching. Your job sounds bloody awful, you poor thing.do you want to change careers entirely or just jobs? What would happen if you you took up some studies, would that cover some of the 12 months?
Throws some chocolate at spanna

misshoolie so glad that you finally got some help and I'm really interested to hear how it works. It's unjustifiable that you can't access that level of help from any part of the country. Not many drinkers get to the point of being ready to stop, so why make the system so hard ? Ffs

doris yay well done!

I'm cheerfully af again. Toddler dd has had 9 temper tantrums during the night and finally got up at 5. I'm off for coffee.

Oh I forgot- kittens SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEED! They are delicious and I will swop dd for one of those tabbies any day. mint your job sounds amazing. Do you just have a big silly grin on your face all day and maybe a kitten or two in your pockets?

HemanOrSheRa · 18/10/2017 08:48

Morning!

Well done doris! How do you feel this morning?

I'm sleeping like a log at the moment and not waking up until the alarm goes off - apart from a couple of wake ups to pander to my dog (sorry gugg Sad). This is very much a new thing for me. I've often wondered what people meant when it takes them a while and lots of Brew to 'come to' of a morning. Now I know! I've come to the conclusion that I probably haven't slept properly for YEARS. If I could sort my cronky back out I'd feel AMAZING ConfusedGrin.

Mouseface · 18/10/2017 09:21

I’m a very poorly Mouse

I’ve been to the doctor every two weeks now to see what he can do to help me to breathe. Ever since the pneumonia and Sepsis, along with the pleurisy I had back early July, I’ve been so ill respiratory wise.

I’m going to be given the pneumonia jab, but we have no stock in our area. 😢 I’m super proud of the Babes who are managing to reach their goals, even if it is One Day At A Time xx

I’m at the hospital finally for my post admittance “6 week 🤔🤔🤔” review, (it’s been four months!) so hopefully I’ll get the kit I need for my sleep apnoea too.

Sorry just to go on about me. I’m still on the Becks Blue, with a lemonade top. Just sayin’ Grin

Take care and wrap up warm xxx

Long time lurker here, felt the need to post to get the thread back onto page 1.
So impressed with so many of you, *mouse, Dubh, Demented, Guggenheim, Luxury, Elba, small fox, Spanna, Made and many many more, you've done so so well. Also very proud of MsHoolie in the last few days, you are brilliant! I'm a retired MH Nurse and know how very very hard it is to seek help for yourself.
I'm moderating, although not very successfully, atm. Also looking at ending my marriage, so lots of stresses. I'll keep checking in and hopefully post more. Flowers to you all

LuxuryWoman2017 · 18/10/2017 19:21

Hey, Slingsanderrors welcome aboard, just join in when you wish, be good to have you on board. If you've been lurking you may know I'm fairly new to single-hood and gosh it feels good. Yes it will be stressful but if it's what's right for you then I wish you well Flowers

Mouse my darling, you do sound poorly, you really go through it but it's great to hear from you. I hope you're resting and there are some hunky doctors to take care of you x

Hi everyone, not much to report here - really starting to feel chilly. I need to make some plans now the initial euphoria of getting rid of Mr Lux has worn off (no regrets) I just need to build a new kind of life going forward. Need to reconnect with friends a bit more and have some stuff to look forward to and keep busy with.

Hope everyone is OK. Back soon.

Slingsanderrors · 18/10/2017 21:01

Thanks for the welcome Lux.

spanna41 · 18/10/2017 21:31

Welcome Slings good to see you and thank you for getting us back on page 1 (I for one don't like it when we slip off as it can make it harder for babes to find us) thank you for your kind words Flowers

Guggs you're an angel that was just what I needed to hear, thank you! I did a degree in my 40s and really enjoyed it. And I'm looking at a leisure course in drawing and painting that starts on 1 Dec Grin can't wait to get mucky again!!! I phoned and the lovely admin lady remembered me (bless her) and said that they'd find a space for me. So that's my Friday afternoons sorted out for 10 weeks, yay Smile
I hope your DD gives you a more peaceful sleep tonight, isn't it amazing how much more patience we have when we're not woken from a drunken slumber Grin

Doris well done lovely, keep focused and try to distract yourself at your wine witching hours Flowers

Mouse lovely lady, you always sound so positive when you're going through so much

Herman yep that sleep is glorious isn't it Grin I'm the same don't think I slept properly for years and years. Stick with it, you're doing really well x

Lux hello love - your life has completely turned round and you sound so content - I really enjoy reading your posts Smile

I hope everyone is ok this evening - I've got my fighting spirit back and feeling a bit better about stuff which can only be progress.
Keep going babes one day at a time, break the moments down if you have to and remember none of us will regret not drinking when we wake up tomorrow x

RubyRed2017 · 18/10/2017 21:55

Welcome slings

Lux snap I just got rid of Mr Ruby. Well, it's been 9 months. I used alcohol to anaesthetise myself from the anger and frustration I felt in the marriage. Very unhealthy. I'm hoping that moderating by stopping drinking at home will be ok. But we'll see. I've managed 4 AF days in a row so far this week. I'm out Saturday night so that will be my "drinking night".

HemanOrSheRa · 18/10/2017 22:30

Evening! I mentioned it on Saturday as I was trying it for the first time - I thought I would recommend the Seedlip Garden AF spirit again. It's fantastic stuff! Wednesday is a tricky night for me, midweek, generally a quieter day at work on Thursdays (and a whole host of other excuses!) I very nearly caved in earlier. I had a couple of glasses of seedlip & tonic and it really hit the spot. It's not cheap but only works out at about the same as 3 bottles of wine!

I'm off to bed now with a hot chocolate and I'm giving my new 'stop snoring' mouth guard a try. My hideous snoring is obviously linked to alcohol consumption Blush. I woke MYSELF up very briefly last night Grin.

HemanOrSheRa · 18/10/2017 22:32

Nononono. Stupid fat fingers - my snoring is NOT linked to alcohol. I'm still snoring away like a warthog Grin.

spanna41 · 18/10/2017 22:43

Sooooo cute www.allsortsdogrescue.org.uk/dogimages/3170_1.jpg

HemanOrSheRa · 18/10/2017 22:47

Oh spanna is that the whippet/jrt cross you mentioned up thread? She is gorgeous. I've got a JRT and I would love a whippet. Best of both worlds there Grin.

spanna41 · 18/10/2017 22:53

Herman my friend swears by her mouth guard and it really works (her snoring raises roofs off) she does look like hanibel 😁😁😁

spanna41 · 18/10/2017 22:54

That's her. I'm in love....

HemanOrSheRa · 18/10/2017 23:02

Hehe! It's not the most attractive thing Grin. I've got it in but it's making me drool. Nice Confused. I can't decide whether to have a read and then put it in when I get sleepy or just wear it straightaway. Sometimes I drop off with my kindle/book on my face Grin. I'm such a catch!

HemanOrSheRa · 18/10/2017 23:07

She is a cutie spanna. Is there really no way you can adopt her? Here's my JRT Smile. The pic is a bit dark but if I photograph her with the flash on she squints up her eyes or looks away!

MsHooliesCardigan · 18/10/2017 23:28

Mouse sorry to hear how poorly you are, my love. You’re such a trooper, I hope things pick up for you soon Flowers
Welcome slings and thanks for your kind words.Stick around.
I have to go and have bloods taken tomorrow and then attend an introductory group and then I can get started on my detox.
I had a really difficult day today- I went out to eat with my DPs last night and, having barely eaten anything for 3 weeks, forced myself to eat about 3/4 of a largish pizza.
I don’t know if it was just too much for me having eaten so little for so long or whether it was actual food poisoning but I spent the next 12 hours throwing up.
The plan was to meet my DB and his GF in an AirBnb where the plan was for me to stay with them for a few days to ‘look after me’.
I started shaking and sweating like crazy on the way there which I’m pretty sure was withdrawal but I knew I couldn’t drink anything because I would just throw it up.
Luckily, I found a couple of Benzos (Lorazepam) in my bag which my GP
has prescribed to me on as ‘an required’
Basis for anxiety for the last few years but monitors my use like a hawk
and would be in like a shot if he thought I was overusing them and getting addicted so I am very very frugal with them - probably take them about 3 times a month but I am so glad I had them today and managed to keep them down as they did stop the sweating and shaking.
So I am holed up in a lovely flat with my DB and his GF and have had less to drink today than I have for several months - although still far far too much.
Really looking forward to getting going now.
Love to all of those of you struggling and thanks again for all the amazing support you’ve shown me x
