The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Sweet, Summer Sobriety!

Hey, I'm Mouse Smile

Welcome to the Battle Bus! We're a group of travelling drinkers of varying levels, those who are teetotal, and those who have tried so many times to stop, those are 'controlled' drinkers, but we NEVER give up and keep coming back for the support we share, and trying to get some kind of control over the Wicked Wine Bitch Witch!

It's not easy, boy, it's so not easy to stop or cut down some days. There are days when even the Bravest Babes fall into the Sidecar. And do you know what? That's okay. Smile

There is NO judgey pants worn on this Bus and you don't have to be anyone other than YOU to join us Smile

So, come and grab a seat, some Opal fruits, (it'll make sense eventually!)) and meet the rest of the Babes. Remember, you're not on your own, ever with us, you'll always have a Babe you can relate to.

Here's the last thread for you to catch up on if you like Smile

And here's where the entire journey began. Smile

Oh my god! Sorry, I can't stop laughing. Have you had a reply yet?
Harvest time here and no rain!
Unfortunately I had a bottle of Pinot on Monday with my friend. Sad I suppose I should be grateful it's not two a night like it used to be. AF started again last night.

mint he sent me a youtube link by way of reply (cue panic). It was Dean Martin singing " you must have been a beautiful baby"....
He's an older guy who lives in America and I apologies again and he said it had merely confirmed his belief that Scottish ((job title) were way more fun that there American counterparts. Am still cringing...

Mouseface · 09/08/2017 20:57

Hola, 'tis' me, Mouse

Well, after being rushed to hospital on a code red, in an ambulance with blues and twos on, finding out that I had sepsis, double pneumonia, and I am now left with pleurisy. Sad

Not only that, I've had a letter from my Respiratory Consultant wrote to me telling me that my sleep study has shown that I stop breathing for a significant period of time and that I fall asleep during the day rather a lot. They've "advised" me that I should NOT drive at all until my next emergency appointment with my Consultant.

I could weep.

Our holiday was awesome! I loved every moment and Nemo was an absolute star! DH was relaxed and switched off from worked, we celebrated our wedding anniversary in style as it was the resort's first birthday too!! Smile

Anyway, I've had a wonderful break and now face a long battle to see where my lungs and respiratory team decide what my future will.

Plus I need to catch up with all of you lovely Babes Smile

Also, I've lost lots of weight and been put on a new pain patch that doesn't affect my breathing......but my GP wants me off them asap and also my morphine liquid.

So, bed is calling. I'm so going to go and rest my achy bones and come back soon!!

I've missed you lots xxx

Gosh, you've been through it. I'm so glad you are starting to feel better.
My Dad has recently been given a BPAP machine to help with his sleep apnoea. Is this something they could help with? He says it's helped immensely.
Unfortunately he's just had a series of strokes so not sure whats next with him.
Also, pleurisy, it's shite, I've had it, my Mum's had it so I quite understand how you are feeling right now. Try and rest and do nice relaxing things. Have they given you preds for lungs?
Glad you had a wonderful holiday and it's great to see you back. Grin

MintToBee · 10/08/2017 07:50

Blooming harvesting. I woke up at 4am and gave up at 5 trying to sleep. I have such bad hayfever I feel and look like I have flu. Not a good look for today.
I found out through one of the girls at work who's other job is in the place I'm interviewing for this afternoon, that they are looking for two people and six are being interviewed. Eeeeek!

UnwiseOldElf · 10/08/2017 08:48

Hello! I need to read back but wanted to say hello and I'm back from holidays (basically nightmarish but won't go into that right now...). I am still sober, and still count myself as sober despite having two glasses of wine on holiday, as I didn't get remotely tipsy and made a conscious decision to have them, and then wanted (wanted!) to switch to soft drinks afterwards. I also haven't wanted any since, either - I had been worried it might trigger me to start bingeing or something. So much better than the 140 or so units a week I used to drink... Shock. So, "hello!" and I will catch up with you all properly soon.

dementedma · 10/08/2017 09:27

Good luck with interview mint and good to see you elf

Zorra · 11/08/2017 08:23

How was the interview, Mint?

Had a dream last night that I got shitfaced and woke up feeling so relieved Smile

We're resuming our usual Friday night restaurant outing with friends plus kids at which I usually have a few seven or eight then carry on when I get home drinks so interesting to see how that one goes. Forza, babes!

MintToBee · 11/08/2017 11:04

Oh god, yesterday was a bit of a nightmare.
The morning went well. Got myself all ready and was about to toddle off to the bus. I was looking forward to reading my interview notes, sitting in Costa to compose myself, check hair, makeup etc and being relaxed about it.
So, a friend decided to land on my doorstep wanting a chat. I live very rural, nobody ever just comes round Confused. They said they'd drop me in town. By then I'd missed the (hourly) bus so I had no choice. Soooooooo, I didn't get to relax, read my notes and had to endure a car journey where she chain smoked all the way. Needless to say, I reckon the interview didn't go to well as by then I was really pissed off, stunk of fags and really annoyed.
I came out and almost cried on the bus home.
And the chat was pretty much gossip about someone I've never met and wanting to borrow my carpet cleaner.
So, (I know I'm over using so, sorry) I came home and drunk a bottle of Pinot.

dementedma · 11/08/2017 16:16

Oh mint I hope it has gone better than you think.

Zorra · 11/08/2017 21:51

Sorry to hear that mint, sounds shitty. Hope there's a better result than you think.

MintToBee · 11/08/2017 22:54

Got email from HR at 5.30. Didn't get it. But I do have an interview somewhere else on 18th.
Resisted the Pinot tonight in favour of Tablet Ice Cream.

dementedma · 13/08/2017 08:15

Sorry to hear that mint but good luck with the next one. Tablet Ice Cream, you say...?

MintToBee · 13/08/2017 08:40

Tablet Icecream from Aldis Ma . It's blooming marvellous.
How are you enjoying London?

MintToBee · 13/08/2017 08:43

Zorra
How did your Friday go?
UnwiseOldElf
Sorry to hear your holiday was a bit shit.
Mouse
How are you feeling now? Any improvements?

dementedma · 13/08/2017 17:30

Back in Scotl nd now. I enjoyed being on my own in London.Spitalfields market was wonderful, and I explored lots of old churches and stuff off the beaten track. Nice to see some sunshine too.

Zorra · 13/08/2017 18:38

It was ok, Mint! We met as usual and it was fine - a couple of repeat asks whether I wouldn't have 'just one' but no problems. I realised that I am probably much drunker than everyone else on Fridays as most people had 2 drinks max with dinner and I usually have a lot more Sad This is good in that I can join them without stressing but means I feel a bit of a dick about lack of self-awareness.

Plus I realised the guy I really have a crush on really doesn't fancy me Sad

dementedma · 15/08/2017 07:32

Where the heck is everyone? Has the bus finally run out of steam?Sad

MintToBee · 15/08/2017 09:56

I'm here ma Maybe they are all on their holidays or washed away by the eternal rain.
I have new news too. I left the job with the bully (pretty much everyone has walked out during the week) and am back in an old job from two years ago. They know I'm looking for a full time job and are fine with that.

Oh zorra That's a bit pants. But I bet you felt great with no hangover the next day?
Try putting the money you would spend on alcohol away, and treat yourself to something nice once a month.
( If it's Cillian Murphy then sorry, but I stole his heart long ago Wink)

venusandmars · 15/08/2017 13:39

I here as usual. I got a bit over-invested in watching a couple of other threads and was distracted blush
Back to normal now

LuxuryWoman2017 · 15/08/2017 19:01

I'm here, hello everyone,

I've been reading but I am still so annoyingly happy I didn't want to get on anyone's nerves!
I am rather loving my new life, don't get me wrong, I'm not out clubbing every night, but the joy of having the remote is good, and not walking on eggshells in my own home is absolute bliss. Next thing is I must organise some social evenings, nothing too expensive though.

I will confess, my alcohol intake has crept up, no wine of course, but the odd beer or 2 is becoming maybe 4 on a Friday night and most nights tbh there is a drink or two taken. I'm not panicking and I'm never drunk but it is something I need to think through, keep an eye on and be aware of.
I'm not trying to numb myself or escape from anything so perhaps it's just that I like a drink? I don't know, it's all so bloody complicated isn't it?

I hope everyone is ok.

madein1995 · 16/08/2017 07:16

I'm here😊 not been on for a while but all good. Will catch up and do a proper reply later. Hlad my police assessment yesterday, i think tge written exams were ok but the interviews anyones guess so will just have to see. Not read properly but glad you seem happy lux

LilyMcClellan · 16/08/2017 19:08

I'm still around. Mostly AF since my slip back at the end of July. I had a couple of glasses of wine last Friday night with dinner and just felt... bored? by it. Used the rest of the bottle in a pork belly roast instead of feeling tempted to drink it.

dementedma · 16/08/2017 19:35

Good to hear from everyone. Glad you are feeling happy lux but you are right to watch for wine creep!
made good to hear from you and best of luck with the police
lily well done on not drinking the whole bottle
venus my old friend - we must have that catch up. I finish my job on August 25th and start the new one on Sept 4th so maybe some time in between?

Remember I mentioned rather cryptically that we had received an award at work but I couldn't really talk about it....well, i am to be presented with it in London in October. By a certain VIP. (Think Royal. think ginger!) Grin

LuxuryWoman2017 · 16/08/2017 20:16

Woah ma so cool! Give him a snog from me Grin
Wow,.that's so great. You're not just a powerful ally but practically royalty
