One word to describe your marriage...?

Just for fun/interest.

My dh asked me for one word to describe our marriage (inspired by a question on Broadchurch) and I went for 'challenging' - not meant in a negative way but from this being my third marriage (divorce, widowed), his second, we both have children/adult children from previous marriages, work, money and all that. And sometimes I find it challenging because he is so nice to me and I am not used to that! We have a great life with the normal ups and downs.

I asked him and he said 'A Work In Progress', which is four words! However forgiving him for that, I do get where he is coming from with having to put effort into our relationship and not just coasting. We have had some interesting times over our five years together and some changes to deal with but really do try and bring the focus back to just him and me when we can.

Your marriage/relationship in one word?

Friends

We get on really well but totally sexless and no excitement. It's like living with my best friend

Glossolalia · 21/03/2017 19:46

I quite like a PP's description of 'united'. I think that suits us.

Alternatively 'compatible'

Lucky (as in, I am so fortunate)

Team

One word is hard! I chose Team as we are married, have 2 children and run a business together. We spend A LOT of time together.

I would add loving and safe if I could.

BarchesterFlowers · 21/03/2017 19:50

I asked DH - 'lovely' was his response.

my word - steadfast.

Happy

Or is that just cliche? When I think about Dh and our marriage and don't try to overthink it, I feel warm and fuzzy and happy inside so even though it probably is cliche, it's the word I'd pick!

Endmoor1405 · 21/03/2017 19:53

Strong

We've been through a lot- although not married for most of it- and I've realised how unbelievably lucky I am to have found this wonderful man, and that he actually wants to grow old together.
