One word to describe your marriage...?

Just for fun/interest.

My dh asked me for one word to describe our marriage (inspired by a question on Broadchurch) and I went for 'challenging' - not meant in a negative way but from this being my third marriage (divorce, widowed), his second, we both have children/adult children from previous marriages, work, money and all that. And sometimes I find it challenging because he is so nice to me and I am not used to that! We have a great life with the normal ups and downs.

I asked him and he said 'A Work In Progress', which is four words! However forgiving him for that, I do get where he is coming from with having to put effort into our relationship and not just coasting. We have had some interesting times over our five years together and some changes to deal with but really do try and bring the focus back to just him and me when we can.

Your marriage/relationship in one word?

Lonely and almost sexless.

ModreB · 21/03/2017 19:11

Complementary.

Each of us have strengths that complement each others flaws. And we are honest enough to recognise both and welcome them.

DH texted back "perfect" which is quite sweet. Oh God I was tempted to put a heart emoji in here, I'm fucked aren't I...I better get over to Netmums and start hunning...

Strong.

Actually a lot of what happened that needed strength was before we were married but either way it's taken it.

Companionship.

AppleG · 21/03/2017 19:22

Home - It's a word I would use to describe how I felt when I knew he was the one I wanted to marry - being with him felt like I was home. Wherever we are I will always feel like I'm where I should be when we are together ☺️
