Be honest or hide my past?

Please be gentle with me - looking for some honest advice. I split up from my ex almost 2 years ago and he didn't pay me any money for the first few months. To make ends meet for a year or so I did some escort work. Haven't ever told friends of family about it. I made good money, alongside my day job, and once my ex started payments I eventually stopped doing the escort work. The advice I would like is this - Ive started dating a lovely man and I feel unsure whether to be honest with him about my past. What do you feel?

I would have to be honest, what if he introduced you to a friend and he was an ex client.

What's this based on...Pretty Woman?

MichelleNeedsMore · 27/06/2017 14:49

Ok well update on this. I didn't tell him, but over a few months the relationship started to go stale and we split up. What I realised however is that I actually enjoyed the escort work mostly, so went back to it. Long story short eventually fell for one of my clients and we got married in April! ❤️

That's an unexpected ending! Congratulations!

A whirlwind!

I wouldn't tell him. It's nothing to be ashamed of but it's your business.

Poorpearl · 27/06/2017 14:57

Sorry didn't read the thread. Congratulations!!

Dont mean to sound mean...

But a man wjo marries his prostitute creates a vacancy??

Wish you all the best though!! Smile

MichelleNeedsMore · 27/06/2017 14:59

A vacancy for what marbles?

Eh what????

You were asking about this previous partner you were seeing in January. Which went stale "over a few months". Now, to my mind a few would be more like April time, but let's allow March. You married a former client in April????

That's not whirlwind. That's like overnight.

Bizarre thread.

MichelleNeedsMore · 27/06/2017 15:07

It was someone who had been a previous client. I have known him over two years, and yes it was very quick after I split from my ex. Sometimes life works quickly. It just feels right so we went with it

Its a bastardisation of James Goldsmiths phrase

'When a man marries his mistress it creates a job opportunity'

MichelleNeedsMore · 27/06/2017 15:08

I felt I could be honest about everything I am

Oh I see marbles. Well I hope not but no guarantees in life I guess

True, wishing you the best

MichelleNeedsMore · 27/06/2017 15:24

MichelleNeedsMore · 27/06/2017 15:40

That's the key, being able to be myself. And I can be now x

He shouldn't be asking you this question. None of his damn business and what do you mean by 'follow up questions?' What has it got to do with him? So he can make some sort of judgement call?

Don't get into these conversations. They're not relevant and he's just bloody nosey

BatFacedGirl · 27/06/2017 16:28

That'll teach me to not read all the replies

Umm weird

MichelleNeedsMore · 27/06/2017 18:29

I realise it's not standard. Weird...dunno but we're happy x
