My job is making me ill - scared to go back

I've posted before about work, which has become really bad over the last few months. My manager is passive aggressive and makes me feel stupid 9/10. I work in a competitive industry and have pride in my work, yet my motivation is now on the floor. I feel sick about going to work tomorrow, dreading it. Waiting to hear from a new job and feel sick with anxiety about thst too.

Just posting for any words of support or ways to pull my big girl pants on.. I feel like I have no strength left anymore to face the day.

Hi, was just wondering how your day was today? x

CatBallou2 · 04/01/2017 22:36

Me too. Hope you've been ok.

Jayfee · 04/01/2017 22:42

When I had a crap boss, I used to write down everything that really annoyed me. what she had said or done. i thought i would use it if i went to hr to complain. it made me feel in control. i never used it as i moved to another department. good luck.

Lollysuns · 05/01/2017 07:08

Thank you so much for all the support. Yesterday was hard but ok. Woken up this morning and feel exhausted already. I hate all of this. I don't know how life got so bad.

Lolly please take the sick note. I've been in a similar position and fought going off but it was the best thing I could have done and I don't regret it. I'm 51 and about to make massive career changes. Life us way too short to do work that harms you. Give yourself a break and recharge your batteries. Are you in a union?

Would you reconsider getting a sick note from your doctor? If nothing else it would give you a much needed physical and mental break from the situation x

Chottie · 05/01/2017 11:13

Lolly - thinking of you today Flowers

Just today and tomorrow and then 2 days respite.......

Lollysuns · 05/01/2017 11:19

Thank you all so much. Today is harder than yesterday. Manager has ignored me all morning (I sit opposite him), yet has made all sorts of small talk with other people!

Still haven't heard from the other job and I'm wondering if I should follow up today...

I have no advice but came on to say that you aren't alone. I'm in exactly the same situation.

I'm so sorry tequila. It's horrible isn't it. I've been feeling sick all morning and genuinely not sure if I can make it to the weekend. Hope you are ok x

Tequilamockinbird · 05/01/2017 11:42

Yes, me too. Didn't sleep last night, or the last few nights for that matter. I had an interview yesterday and I'm praying so hard that I did well enough to be offered it.

Praying for you now too! We will find a way out of this x

Lollysuns · 05/01/2017 11:54

Oh I hope so much that you get it! When did they say you can expect to hear? It's so stressful isn't it. X

MaryAll · 05/01/2017 11:56

Keeping fingers crossed for your new job, sounds like you are better of without your current one.

Tequilamockinbird · 05/01/2017 12:07

They said by the beginning of next week. I'm sat watching my mobile though and hoping it rings.

When are you due to hear?

Lollysuns · 05/01/2017 12:07

I feel so sick. Can't make it to 1pm. Just want to sit and cry.

I think I'm going to go back to the doctors next week. Life is too short for this.

Lollysuns · 05/01/2017 12:08

I was due to hear 'asap' after Christmas. So I thought this week but nothing yet...

The women's hour interview on stress was excellent.
I'm in an awful situation at the moment personally and I e taken the day off today because I can't face working.
I've sent a long email to my line manager and his manager to say how stressed I am.
They are aware of my personal problems.
I just feel I can't cope anymore.
I just want one of them to ring and ask me how I am.
I work from home remotely but my email is crying out to them. Sad

Lollysuns · 05/01/2017 12:29

I'm so sorry ihatethecold. I wish I was with you and we could have a cup of tea and a chat! It feels lonely in these situations. I've just been crying in the toilets and come back to my desk and it's just me and the manager and there's a horrible tension. I don't even know what I've done...I have no idea really. I've always worked hard and enjoyed working and I've never been rude to him. I feel so shit at my job, I can't even concentrate anymore.

OP posts:
Tequilamockinbird · 05/01/2017 13:32

Ihate sorry that you're in a similar position too Sad.

Lolly, I hope you hear soon. Got everything crossed for you.

fudgesmummy · 05/01/2017 14:32

Good luck to all of you waiting to hear about jobs x

Lollysuns · 05/01/2017 19:54

Fingers crossed we hear something tomorrow lolly

ButterflyMum30 · 05/01/2017 23:47

Lollysun you sound so anxious and stressed, I'm hoping so much you get the other job but I would also consider the sick note, I have been in your position before. Literally crying before my shift and a nervous wreck on the shift, life IS to short for that. Thinking of you!
