So here is my new thread as promised. I have found it so therapeutic writing on here and have received some great advice and support.
Here's to grabbing 2017 by the horns and making it my year.
(With maybe a few wobbles along the way!)
I can't work out how to link to my old thread on my phone!

Having a nice rending week so far.
It was my birthday on Sunday so my parents visited and we went out for dinner. Then my bd and her daughter popped in, it was lovely to have a house full.
Yesterday the dc went out for the day with their dad so I did a bit of Christmas shopping. In the afternoon I had my bf's daughter round to give me a deep tissue massage to help with my aching running body! It was soo painful but will hopefully ease my aches and pains a bit.
Dd slept at a friend's last night and is there until lunchtime and ds is off into the nearest city with his friends in a bit.

Rending? Obviously should say relaxing!!

Glad you are having a nice week. Mine are away with their Dad and I hate it.

aleC4 · 31/10/2018 07:14

Oh Nigel, I do feel for you. I hate it when mine go away. It's nice to have a break for a couple of days but then you miss them.
Are they away all week?

Yes back Friday. It's the first year we haven't had the big Halloween party and made a fuss About it. We love Halloween in our house. Had a little pathetic cry as I was carving my solitary pumpkin last night.

aleC4 · 31/10/2018 16:24

Oh bless you, can you do something for bonfire instead?
Mine are at their dad's tonight because he promised them a Halloween extravaganza - we'll see.....
Trick or treating may be more fun for them round where he lives. There's a lot of old people on my street and you have to walk a way to find houses to knock on.
I am a little bit worried about them going trick or tearing with his kids but I am distracting myself by going out with my best friend for my birthday meal out.

We are having a little party on Saturday when they are back.
Hope your two were ok last night x

aleC4 · 02/11/2018 07:20

They survived it and I think they enjoyed it thanks.
I hope you all have a lovely time on Saturday, one more day and then you'll have them back where they belong.
We had a lovely day with friends yesterday.
I can't believe it's the last day of the holidays!! We are having a chill day today.
I have a bit of school work to finish but all the housework I had planned seems to have not been done.......

Where on Earth has half term gone?
How can it be over all ready?!

OP posts:
TheLastNigel · 05/11/2018 21:53

They are back and I feel much better. Back to school already I know...Christmas before you know it!

aleC4 · 09/11/2018 22:37

So I finished C25k on Tuesday and tomorrow is my first ever parkrun!
I am feeling really nervous. I am very slow so I have got nowhere 5k in the 30 mins. It will be the longest time and furthest distance I have ever run.
I can't actually believe I've hit this far to be honest. From a complete non runner who struggled to run for 1 minute to running nonstop for 30 mins.
I feel very proud of myself.

Just delurking to say well done and good luck for today.

aleC4 · 10/11/2018 11:53

Thanks, I did it!
I feel so proud of myself! I can't actually believe I can now say I can run 5k!
From what I was doing 9 weeks ago it is incredible.
Now I just need to shift some weight.....

Congratulations! Keep on running Smile

MsPavlichenko · 10/11/2018 14:04

You Star! So well done!

TheLastNigel · 10/11/2018 15:40

👍👍👍👍

aleC4 · 10/11/2018 23:18

Thanks guys, I am still on cloud nine - and have had a few vinos obvs!
I am just amazed that such a simple idea works. The people who ran the club from our local running club were amazing and I may have just signed up to try and go a bit further...

Still recovering!
I felt like I'd been hit by a bus when I woke up yesterday morning!
Today I still ache a bit and my sore hip is very sore!
We have to do it all over again tomorrow night, not quite sure my body is ready!

Wow that’s brilliant Alex - I’m envious - I make some many excuses not to do anything. Motivation brings it on I suppose. It’s great it works.
I’m sure there are plenty of tips on how to recover. 😇

aleC4 · 17/11/2018 10:51

Second parkrun done this morning.
It was really hard today but I did it!

Hi all. Thought I'd not had a proper catch up in a while so here I am!
Things are ticking along same as usual here. No dramas at the mo.
Kids seem to be coping with their time at their dad's at the moment so fingers crossed it stays like that.
He still lives in cloud cuckoo land most of the time but that will never change.
I must admit though I always worry when we have these smooth, quiet times as it usually turns out to be the calm before the storm.

Wildheartsease · 24/11/2018 00:05

Glad to hear that all is going well. Good going on the park runs!

kaitlinktm · 25/11/2018 11:55

I know I keep saying this but he will reap what he sows. My eldest is 33 now and had the chance to go abroad to stay with someone at Christmas which has now fallen through. As the flights had already been bought, his father suggested he spend the time with him (he lives abroad) instead - which was instantly declined. DS1 obviously doesn't consider 2 weeks with his dad a pleasant prospect. This is what happens when you are seen to prioritise others and yourself over your own children.

Have your Christmas arrangements been made yet Ale?

aleC4 · 27/11/2018 06:28

I totally agree. Mine are already saying they don't want to spend next Christmas there when it is his turn.
Christmas plans are all sorted here. The kids are coming and going a bit but at least it is in blocks of 2/3 days so they won't have to spend loads of time travelling.
They are spending more time than usual with their dad which may be interesting but we'll see how it goes.

Just got a pb on my parkrun today so feeling great!
Christmas shopping is about done so I am feeling very poor.
Hoping my bf's husband is popping by this weekend to get the Christmas stuff out the loft for me so we can get decorating!
