Why is another woman's debit card in my house?

Please talk me down, I think I'm close to a panic attack.

My husband is away on business today, he will return this evening, so I can't speak to him right now.

This afternoon I have found a debit card in my house (in the living room) behind some furniture that is not mine. It's not my name or anything close to it. We don't know anybody by the name. The piece of furniture was only recently moved and there was nothing there.

So where the fuck did this come from? Please tell me there's a solution that doesn't include him shagging around. He hasn't shown any of the signs - I know them - exH cheated. I'm an absolute mess.

Am loving the tales of randomly found items.

shazzarooney999 · 01/06/2016 21:36

Op please keep us updated xxxxx

Asprilla11 · 01/06/2016 21:37

Not a 'found' story but my mother once had a dream that Leslie Crowther and some chinese people were living under her floorboards Shock

bigbootsandshoes · 01/06/2016 21:37

I found a black jacket - size 8 in our house. Still no idea who it belongs to. Me now.

LadyMumble · 01/06/2016 21:40

Big boots I lost a black jacket once, about 10 years ago. It was a size 8 and it had a purple lining. Was it mine that you found?

WaitrosePigeon · 01/06/2016 21:44

Keep us updated!

Bails2014 · 01/06/2016 21:47

Just to be safe, order yourself some expensive jewellery using the card.

If it's another woman, she will be too scared to cancel it and you get to keep the jewels.

If it's not another woman, you get conformation that your husband has been faithful and you trust is restored.

Win/Win really Smile

Hello,

This is going to be a bit of a shit update, so I do apologise. We don't know anything more than I did when found it earlier. Now that I'm home I've googled the sort code and it is local, so I googled that town and the name and I think I've found the correct person on Facebook. I don't know this person, and appear to have absolutely no connection with her.
DH is completely oblivious, also never heard of her or seen her before - I can tell he's not lying, he's a shit liar Grin

We can't think of any explanation that hasn't been suggested here, the only other person who's been in our house recently was somebody who purchased a heavy object from us last week (I'm being vague to avoid outing) so there's the possibility that it fell out of his pocket? But this is a bloke not a woman, possibly her partner? I can't see evidence of one on Facebook but it's a closed profile so... We know nothing further. DC didn't know anything, two are too young to ask anyway, nanny doesn't have a clue.

DH is going to hand it in to our local branch of the bank tomorrow so I suppose we'll never know for sure how it got here. It's most odd!

You could try Googling the name with your area and see if anything comes up, you might recognise her from a picture. I would just cut to the chase and ask your dh. There is probably an innocent explanation. Flowers

Itsaplayonwords · 01/06/2016 21:54

I'd be tempted to put it on Facebook as a lost item rather than take it into the branch, purely so you can try to work out a connection with the card's owner should she get in touch.

DailyMailYobos · 01/06/2016 21:57

Sorry, cross post.

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 01/06/2016 21:58

I once found a used pair of mens Y fronts in my hall. Dh at the time wore boxers. Never did find out how they came to be there.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 01/06/2016 22:04

I leave debit cards everywhere. I carry them loose on me and I'm forever either giving them to someone else for something or leaving them places. DP has at least two of mine at the minute. He's better at not losing them!

I don't think there's anywhere I haven't left one yet. They are forever making their way back to me from places I didn't even know they'd been.

cheesecadet · 01/06/2016 22:08

I found a totally random strangers debit card next to mine in my purse, still bugging me how it got there!

starfishmummy · 01/06/2016 22:10

Why is everyone going on about it being in the sofa from someone else sitting on it in the shop?

Most sofa shops have display models and the one you buy is brand new from the warehouse not the manky display model.

lifesalongsong · 01/06/2016 22:16

Put it as a found item is a local facebook group, we need to know how it got there Grin

LostintheSouthEast · 01/06/2016 22:18

Just wondering...and I know you don't want to be outed...but was the heavy object a piano? It's just that I know a man who bought a piano recently and I know for a fact that he doesn't have a partner so if the heavy object was indeed a piano then maybe it would suggest that we could rule out the piano mans partner.

NatashaRomanoff · 01/06/2016 22:19

Not that heavy. It was a household appliance.

Just to give you some perspective I came home from shopping a few months ago and having made a cuppa and sat down I heard a banging noise so stuck my head into the living room and saw my 20 month old son banging something against the skirting board. On closer inspection I realised that this was a small vibrator. I had no idea where it came from, wasn't mine and I live alone with DP and the 2 kids. No other women in the house. After a bit of disgusted panic I realised it was brand new with a little plastic cover over it and thinking back I remembered I had been in a lingerie shop earlier and he must have picked it up then and had it in his buggy the whole way round ASDA Blush God only knows what people must have thought if they saw it.

I was too embarrassed even to return it myself. I posted it with a note and prayed to god the post office didn't open it. So things can end up in your house, kids do pick stuff up even if they don't remember later. They might have picked it up in the street days before and forgotten about it.

Herald · 01/06/2016 22:26

OP ..have you checked the shed for the Nanny's international crime control centre ? 😝

Jemmima · 01/06/2016 22:26

Was in new toy kitchen and has fallen out.

Findingthissohard · 01/06/2016 22:28

How bizarre. It will be one of those threads without a satisfying answer.

I found a tooth under my sofa cushion. A back tooth. I still have no idea whose it was and it still bugs me.

StarryIllusion · 01/06/2016 22:30

I found a massive bit of broken plastic, perspex kind of thing in the back seat of my car once. Hadn't come from the car that I could see and no one had been in it so I'm still wondering years later where it came from.

NewLife4Me · 01/06/2016 22:30

Some child or parent dropped it in the kitchen before you bought it.
Or was it all sealed?
I can imagine a child playing with it if it was on display.

Starry illusion- that's YOUR story and you're sticking to it right?!Wink
