Hi, tis me, Mouse

Welcome to the Bus. We're delighted to have you here :) Not because if you're new to the Babes you are here for help, but because we welcome every kind of drinker. And for all of the reasons life throws at you.

Those that do drink, those that don't drink and of course those who do but don't want to say just how much..............

We've all had our own personal Groundhog Day , some still are and don't want to remain trapped in the same cycle day in, day out, and some still are and want to be which is fine and why we're here.

To talk, to listen, to just be us, like you are YOU. You never know, one day you might just want to wake up on a different day? :) There's no judging here, no 'sides.

After all, something made you click on and read this :)

Come say hi! We even do Brew & Cake if you're super quick!!

And if you want to see what we got up to in the last thread, have a look RIGHT HERE

And this is where our adventure began, almost six years ago now!!

ALMOST SIX YEARS AGO...........

Morning.

Pop, has it all gone smoothly?

Special, Giving yourself those 72 AF hours is the kindest thing you can do for yourself and your family. Look after yourself.

Elba, that is beautiful, I'm originally from the Midlands, but after 16 years in the South, I would hate to move away from the coast. I love winter beaches on bright cold days. Rarity, I have always wanted a house with a window seat!!

I forgot to say yesterday, Marfisa I am with you on the DMs - but I do have a high-heeled pair for when I'm feeling particularly sassy, perhaps your DH would see that as a good compromise Grin.

Taking Sweet Dog to the groomers this morning, then sitting down to some marking - and if anything is likely to turn me to drink . . . perhaps I'm in the wrong job Hmm.

Have a good day everyone.

WillAndDisgrace · 14/04/2016 07:25

Morning all, I'll read back on you chatty lot once ds is at play school.

I fell asleep on the sofa at 7:30! Then I moved to the bed at 9:00 and have only just woken up Shock! Haven't slept like that in years!!!

At least I couldn't drink Grin

journeyon · 14/04/2016 07:30

Hello all - well I am a very long time lurker - in my mind keep planning to stop drinking (i have drunk almost every day for years aside from a lovely 6 month period 3 years ago) - convinced myself I can control my in build thermostat - I cant really. Have joined you all as this time need to mark this journey - day 2 AF for me. Have read all your posts and really make me think I can do this - so here is a tentative hello Smile - every day i have an excuse why the day is not a good day to stop - weekend, heavy day at work, kids (one has medical problems) etc etc and chuffed have ignored my excuses for 2 days x

WillAndDisgrace · 14/04/2016 07:47

Welcome journeyon and we'll done on AF day 2! What are your plans today? Do you have things to keep your mind off drinking? Something I've found out is that when you get an urge to drink I've discovered if you can keep yourself busy for that minute the urge will pass (I had always caved before so didn't realise it was such a short lived moment).

Anyway, you'll get lots of support from this crazy lot and some great tips. X

journeyon · 14/04/2016 08:01

Thankyou Will, today is odd, this pm ds 13 has athletics until 8pm, so normally get home have at least 2 tins fosters in 1hour and bed, my drink of choice is lager, but can drink them quick, so anyway I ramble in theory tonight should be easier, but the big issue is it is a Thursday and I don't work Fridays so my previous excuse (despite fact I have had at least 3tins lager every night is it is the weekend), so my plan is to make sure I get past the shops and keep my mantra why should the weekend be different.

ClaretAndBlue30 · 14/04/2016 08:29

bloody Flowers, the situation with your ex sounds tough. And so often the answer is to turn to drink isn't it.

elba huge envy, can't believe you have that view so close by. Gorgeous. Good luck with your af day today.

will what a great sleep!! Much needed by the sounds of it. I flipping love that deep sleep feeling when you wake up.

DD just had a nasty fall so had to call 111. It's never ending and it's only 8.30am!!

ClaretAndBlue30 · 14/04/2016 08:30

And welcome journeyon you have your own little group of cheerleaders here ready to help all we can Flowers

soberisthenewblack168 · 14/04/2016 09:15

Going to AF day today as DM is really cranking up the pressure and I need a clear head.
Will check in with you all later

Rarity75 · 14/04/2016 09:22

How's your little DD claret? It's horrible when things like that happen.

Just had a present from a staff member who is leaving. She has hand decorated wine glasses for us all. Mine says "I'm not hungover it's wine flu" HmmBlush

Rarity75 · 14/04/2016 10:03

Hi journeyon well done for posting that's hard to do!

ClaretAndBlue30 · 14/04/2016 10:06

sober ShockEnvy, absolutely beautiful!! Hope you are ok and good luck with the af day.

rarity she's ok thanks but off to see doctor shortly just in case.

I started getting 'wine gifts' too....made me cringe a bit if that's what people think of when they think of me....Blush

SweetLathyrus · 14/04/2016 10:17

Welcome Journey, planning is the key, and shopping mindfully - think about what you're putting in the basket rather than doing it on autopilot (which inevitably means taking the wine/beer aisle route Blush.

Sober that is fabulous. I've got the French doors wide open this morning, and although my view doesn't compare, all I can hear is bird song (although one day I am going shoot that bloody male pheasant who has taken to strutting along our fence).

Claret is DD ok now? No lasting damage?

Will there's nothing quite like a really good sleep, especially a sober one.

Day three for me and I am feeling determined, I know I should be focusing on one thing at a time, but I felt clear headed and motivated enough to make some good food choices , and I want to get back into the size 10 jeans I was wearing this time last year.

ClaretAndBlue30 · 14/04/2016 13:04

sweet DD is fine now thanks, sore head but nothing worse. She's an adventurous little thing Confused

Don't you just love the sound of birds chirping away. Always lifts my mood somehow!

I think cutting back/out alcohol and eating better/exercise can often go hand in hand....it does for me anyway. I'm on day 2 of slim fast and really like the food. It's quite a snack based diet so works for me as a chronic grazer!

Speaking of food I've spent some time this morning making a faffy complicated meal for tonight which will hopefully put me off the booze (I rarely eat as well as drink). Day 4 and today I will not drink.

WillAndDisgrace · 14/04/2016 15:53

Note to self....don't try and pre heat te oven with the oven door open! Blush

WillAndDisgrace · 14/04/2016 16:11

Have any babes ever met each other?

ClaretAndBlue30 · 14/04/2016 19:08

will I think possibly some have? They've been on these boards for years and years!

How's everyone doing? No major issues here, home alone so not option to get to the shops, plus cracking headache which puts me off drinking anyway!

Paffle · 14/04/2016 19:10

Eating soup. First food since breakfast. Doing 5:2 diet. Saw my therapist today. Always emotionally draining. And juggling childcare as our nanny's had a bereavement.

Rarity75 · 14/04/2016 19:16

Hi guys, work been busy. Had a visit from a staff member who is off sick. Her husband is very poorly. She brought in cards, flowers and a bottle of wine for each of us.

It is staring at me like a baleful toad from my kitchen.

On the plus side I usually would have opened it as soon as I got home and be on my second glass by now (or third).

Instead I have cooked tea and showered DD. Just need to either hide the damn thing or pour it down the sink. Or put it in the fridge, cold red wine tastes foul.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and having a lovely evening.

WillAndDisgrace · 14/04/2016 20:08

paffel I had great success on the 5:2 "diet" super easy and sustainable. It's not really a diet hence the "".

Well I'm wrighting today off. I've had 3 G&T's 2% each and I'm now drinking a red. I feel like I've let you lot down more than me but I don't think I can never drink again. And I thought the dancing beer would have been te one to get me. Sorry ladies Sad

ClaretAndBlue30 · 14/04/2016 20:23

Don't apologise will! Just aim for moderation tonight if you can. you have got this far which is a huge positive...congratulate yourself on that Flowers

Rarity75 · 14/04/2016 20:25

The wine is still unopened. I'm drinking red grape sparkly fruit juice instead. It's quite nice!

will you have let no one down. Don't be hard on yourself Flowers

ClaretAndBlue30 · 14/04/2016 20:38

rarity well done!! Wine in the house is a right bitch (pardon my language but it is!)

My dh came home with beers for him and diet coke for me - that pretty much never happens! Day 4 pretty much done.

WillAndDisgrace · 14/04/2016 20:45

Well done rarity & claret...Star

Today would have been day 5. I'm going with 12 AF out of 14 isn't bad?

ClaretAndBlue30 · 14/04/2016 20:47

It's brilliant will! I'm on 9 out of 14, really keeps me motivated tracking it like that.
