What would you put in DATING THREAD 101....

The Rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize-they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Read Why Men Love Bitches (aka WMLB), and take from it what you will. 12. Don't serve up moose burgers on the first date (although this is still in debate right now) 13. Matthew Hussey also very useful. And very easy on the eye even if you don't find him any good. 14. IF THEY SAY THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP, THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP.

Guys, what is OKC like? Worth a bash?

aMag314 What reason does Bear give for not wanting to be in a relationship?

he been very suggestive of us 'being alone' which is annoying me

Grrrrrrrrr I have a long-time iron like that. He won't bloody quit. Just when I think he's being gentlemanly he then comes out with pervy crap like that.

GeordieBadger · 01/04/2016 23:39

Deets on the runner: He said he was 38. He was at least 50. He also said in his profile that he requires intelligence in a partner and yet he was thick AS MINCE.

lastnicknamefree · 01/04/2016 23:41

Oh geordie do tell??

lastnicknamefree · 01/04/2016 23:42

Well his own fault then!!! What a prize idiot

ocelot7 · 01/04/2016 23:42

How bad was it Geordie?

ocelot7 · 01/04/2016 23:44

Sorry - saw you explained when it updated after I posted...

lastnicknamefree · 01/04/2016 23:45

Me too!

DrFoxtrot · 01/04/2016 23:58

Oh my goodness Geordie GrinGrin I've never had to do a runner yet luckily.

Anna no further news from Crumpet. I thought I was getting ghosted yesterday but today I've had messages and a photo from him. When I mentioned plans for the weekend that we'd talked about previously..the messages stopped! I have decided that I'm not believing anything will happen with dates until I physically see it happening with my very eyes. My skin is getting tougher.

I am collecting some nice irons...Crumpet might snooze and lose at this rate.

Trills the date sounds good although in my experience, I need to feel that initial attraction or spark otherwise I will not fancy them at all.

Waving lovely little update there Smile

sparklesnpearls · 02/04/2016 00:01

Geordie date from hell eh?Shock

I did like MrLaw but when he proceeded to walk me to my car and then went in for a full on snog n pressed his groin against me it made me feel ewwwww.!

MrBeard walked me to my car and gave me a polite but sweet peck which left me wanting more Smile

muddlingalongquitenicely · 02/04/2016 00:27

Well i was just messaging someone on tinder about the same programme we were watching and he just told me to shhh and asked if i had been drinking! I dont think i said too much at all and it didnt sound drunk.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 02/04/2016 00:31

Can i check on tinder can you only have 3 messages on the screen? I sent a message to a fourth man and its disappeared he was bloody good looking as well.

DrFoxtrot · 02/04/2016 00:40

No muddling you can have loads. He must have unmatched you Angry grrr.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 02/04/2016 00:54

Oh well his loss!

NannysPlums · 02/04/2016 06:35

Geordie if you're in the NE area and my age range which I think you are, (I was looking for mid 30s to mid 40s guys) then I found ok cupid a bit hopeless.. but I did have some fun! (I've dated 27 guys over 2 plus yrs) however, I must have chatted with hundreds in that time. if you want to join the secret Facebook page, you can always share screenshots of potential irons and if I recognise them I could give you a low down....Grin

Jollyphonics · 02/04/2016 08:50

Date 2 with Mr Funny went very well, but I ended up serving moose burgers so hopefully I haven't blown it! He's texted this morning already so finges crossed.

Shameandregret · 02/04/2016 08:53

geordie that is good grounds to do a runner! There us a big difference between a 38 and a 50 year old.

I tried Zoosk last night (just the free one) got messages and likes etc but you have to pay to interact. Calibre of man not that high either. Tinder is still my favourite (I am living up to Yorkshire stereotype of being tight Grin)

trills gin date sounds nice. I would have been trashed on that much booze. Sorry no chemistry though.

anna POF does depend on location I think. Like ocelot says though, you are not missing much, the men on there are lewd.

Shameandregret · 02/04/2016 08:55

jolly glad 2nd date went well! I'm so nervous about my second date tomorrow, wasn't bothered about first date because I didn't think I fancied him.

Are moose burgers a euphemism for something else?? Grin

muddlingalongquitenicely · 02/04/2016 08:57

Tinder is quite disheartening this morning had a few matches and then they disappear. I had a message on match saying nice profile not sure on separated. And the usual charming Hmm messages on pof

lastnicknamefree · 02/04/2016 10:17

Morning everyone!
Who's out on dates this evening? I was half heartedly offered a play date in the park with my slowburner who I feel moved from just slow to actually totally disinterested bordering on rude on his part so I have ghosted him and he's not bothered getting back in touch so...
mrkeen from tinder hadn't messaged me yet thank god, after his flurry of over keen messages resulting in a date Monday I already feel I need a break from him and we've not even met yet! Hmm
jolly so glad your date went well! If he's already messaged then he clearly enjoyed the moose burgers and they haven't done anything to discourage him! And plans for date 3?
muddling how rude to tell you to shhh! Dick head sorry!
sparkle yuk to him full on snogging with groin pressing! especially when you're not feeling it

Trills · 02/04/2016 10:37

I know we've been saying that 51 year old women are hot, but SURELY the Guardian has got the ages backwards here?

By the way, much more fun than that column itself is this analysis.

WhoWants2Know · 02/04/2016 10:41

Mr fell-down-a-hole runs the risk of making me all smitten with his messages, and I might need a firm slap to bring me to my senses. But I don't think I can get away until the weekend after next...

Trills · 02/04/2016 10:47

Gin date was not really that much booze - the tasting thing worked out as "a double each" and then cocktail. But it did give us something to DO and focus on and talk about.

Geordie I don't blame you for doing a runner.
I've not yet done a full runner but I have called a date finished after one drink.

Foxtrot him disappearing when you talk about plans is just rude. Does he want to wait til the last minute in case something better comes along and then expect you to jump? You are busy and important, doesn't he know?

AnnaChronism · 02/04/2016 10:50

Geordie there's nowt on OKC where I live, you can't move for the tumbleweed. I think it really does depend where you live.

It sounds as though crumpet is just a chatter DrFoxtrot tell us about the other irons. Anyone looking like a possible?

Then date 2 went very well jollyp has he been in touch since?

shame I have a special patented Grin method for using POF so I don't usually get the filth. I've got a couple messaging, both live nearby which is good and unusual because I live in the countryside. Does anyone else like someone on Tinder or POF and then think they've gone off them when they message? It's probably just me.

AnnaChronism · 02/04/2016 10:52

I like the sound of the gin date trills

And mr fell down a hole too who

lastnicknamefree · 02/04/2016 11:07

who what did he say he'd been up to in relation to falling down a hole/ disappearing for a while?
trills what did you say after the one drink when your date wasn't going well? I fear I may need tips for Monday with mrkeen
