We don't half get through these at speed!

The Rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize-they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Read Why Men Love Bitches (aka WMLB), and take from it what you will. 12. Don't serve up moose burgers on the first date (although this is still in debate right now)

Oh I agreewaving he's so pleasing on the eye

TooSassy · 21/02/2016 22:06

What's going on with all the men at the moment?

waving . If soho is making you feel this way and not responding to your message despite being online then I think you're right to call it off. My only question would be why are you waiting until Tues? What are you hoping to achieve by doing it face to face? Just be clear on that going in so you aren't left disappointed. I personally couldn't be arsed trying to pull a Long spiel together based on how he's acted. I'd type a blunt to the point text and say either

  1. I'm no longer interested because of xyz. nice to have met you. Best of luck

  2. It's a shame we had potential, but because of xyz I don't think this can go anywhere. If you disagree tell me now, otherwise nice to have met you etc etc

Then delete his numbers and the whatsapp thread. 1) is obviously saying F off. 2) leaves the door open if you want to give him that chance to redeem himself. I wouldn't give anyone anymore of my time if I felt the way you did.

Mom2K · 21/02/2016 22:10

^^ what Sassy said!

TooSassy · 21/02/2016 22:13

mom2k nope am just on Bumble and Happn

born that's funny. I'm quite relaxed with no phone, no Facebook and no dating thread. Give it a go. Have started leaving my phone in the locker at the gym and in the car/ at home if only out for a short while. It's really very nice!

gast am well up for a Brighton meet up! Count me in! Grin. Angry at the sloppy seconds comment. Pure twattery!

314 sorry if I've missed a vital bit of info. Why would you shut down your friendship with bear?

to everyone else on thread.

My irons are simmering quietly in the background. 4 currently trying to organise coffees / drinks but I'm still taking it a little slow as scot and I gauge how what we have looks. Date tmrw night with him.

waving hmmm. I think you're being very hard on yourself and making excuses for exceptionally mixed messages from him.
Believe one thing here. If you sent him the 2nd message and he REALLY wanted you, he'd shoot every moose out there and bring it to you until you gave him another chance. When a guy likes a woman he will up his game and sort his shit out. If he's unable to because of issues, then you're well rid.
You sound like an amazing woman. You need to believe you are an amazing woman. An absolute gem that some person will be so lucky to end up with. Don't let anyone treat you any less better then you expect to be treated.

314Romaniac · 21/02/2016 22:25

Toosassy, ive a feeling im still delivering a moose. Not a physical moose but an emotional one. And he is fulfilling a friendship need for me right now, so that might prevent me seeking out chats and conversations with other men. Maybe i will try and chat less to him.

Yeh, give it to him waving, your pride afterwards will be a comfort!!

HandyWoman · 21/02/2016 22:36

Ooh Sassy you are doing well with your irons and with scot - playing it very nicely. Have a great date tomorrow...

I have two 'irons' on Bumble. One even hinted at a meet. But I'll be astounded if it happens so am not giving them names.

314 I wonder if you are being a bit hard on yourself with Bear? You had seemed recently to draw a line under the boyf potential aspect, and so if you are friends I can't see the problem?

waving are you prolonging the agony now? I think it's significant that this is your first 'thing' since your ex H. These relationships are very, very, very hard to let go of. I fell apart after my 11month relationship with Mr2015 ended. Are you still seeing your counsellor?

HandyWoman · 21/02/2016 22:38

I mean that very gently and kindly, waving Flowers

314Romaniac · 21/02/2016 22:40

U might be right sassy... if i hadnt met him on a dating site i wouldnt overthink it at all.

I want to meet somebody in real life like red!! I should order the book for that chapter.

Yes, I'd want to see his face as I gave him the speech.

HandyWoman · 21/02/2016 23:05

Just had a message from a gorgeous looking local man who has a fascinating sounding life (if indeed it is true, he says it is, but who knows?).

Guess what....

He 'doesn't want a relationship'

Aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!

Mom2K · 22/02/2016 03:17

Oh geez...

So I made a comment to tradesman online about liking The Bachelor, and he launched into this big rant about how there is nothing but crap on t.v....celebrities and actors are morons and he's tired of seeing actors complaining about racism just because they didn't win an oscar...if they're going to fight against racism and intolerance, they should be fighting for all of it. He went on about the superbowl, and then went further into ranting about politics and WW2, and Islamaphobes etc..and ended the whole thing with:

"I've grown to despise everything that comes through the television, including the bachelor and all that, lol...it's social pollution."

FYI this is the longest message he's ever sent...and it came across as this big rant after I mentioned something I liked, which he clearly hates. Is this weird? To be fair I did ask him if he was in the 'love it, hate it, or never seen it camp' but I meant it as a lighthearted comment, lol

Mom2K · 22/02/2016 04:28

And also should add that I felt kind of offended/irritated as I was reading it for him to write so strongly about something I just finished saying I enjoyed. There have been a few other little things that I haven't liked about the interaction (or things that he's said about himself specifically) but, this long ranty message really surprised me, and not in a good way

TooSassy · 22/02/2016 06:52

Happy Monday dating threaders. Have fab days all.

waving totally understand you wanting to do this f2f. What time are you seeing him tmrw?

mom2k sorry but that 'rant' made me laugh out loud. My response would depend on my mood but would most likely be tongue in cheek along the lines of 'so if we ever should meet I'll assume you don't want to watch that with me, thanks for letting me know' and wait to see his response. If he comes back all serious and ranty again then I'd back away. I don't watch tv and tend to think most of it is utter shite but I'd never push that view onto others.

handy which apps are you all on??? At least they are being honest up front as opposed to leading anyone up the garden path.

314 ah understood. In amongst the emotional moose burger would you like to deliver an actual burger? Is anything physical clouding this?

I'll check in post date at some point tmrw. We're both looking forward to seeing one another so fingers crossed date 2 wasn't a one off in terms of connection.....Confused

Waving, do you want to see him tomorrow? He's not making you happy is he?

HandyWoman · 22/02/2016 07:45

Oh shit. Oh. Shit. Man I don't know what you should do! Christ!

HandyWoman · 22/02/2016 07:46

I guess it clarifies things in terms of where you stand with him?
