i have lost most of my documents, important, serious documents

This is going to possibly sound stupid and/or offend you, and I honestly do not mean any offence!

But is there any chance you are a Russian citizen who entered/worked in the UK with someone else's Lithuanian documents, which you now no longer possess? I just remember it being said on a TV programme that this is quite common, and it might explain why you seem to think that losing your documents is such a huge problem, and why you seem to feel your mother has so much power over you. If it is the case that you are not legally allowed to be in the UK, I suspect you will need to seek more specialist advice, maybe by starting on the legal boards on Mumsnet, or by contacting a relevant charity.

I'm very sorry if I'm barking up entirely the wrong tree, but thought it could be useful.

I could go to Job Centre Plus, but my mother said not to do anything about benefits, tax return ect,she is the one who is trying to sort things out and with her own client's help, she doesn't even leave me alone, she keeps on asking me time to time and getting on my nerves, before the 30th of January,2016 i have to sort tax return if i don't,i will have to pay £100 penalty, this is serious, she asks me have i been in touch with my Employment agency, did i receive P60,have i been in touch with HMRevenue ect?....

OP posts:
Offred · 20/01/2016 12:23

She can't apply for benefits on your behalf. You need to do it.

panele01 · 20/01/2016 12:36

Hmmmmm........i see dear,i understand, but she is trying to do it,every letter connected/related with Self Assessment,Tax Return,HMRevenue, she is keeping to herself, she won't allow me to have it

OP posts:
Offred · 20/01/2016 12:37

Stealing your mail is illegal. She has no right.

panele01 · 20/01/2016 12:40

She doesn't steal it in other words, she keeps it,she asked me to give to her everytime a letter related to HMRevenue,Tax Return,Self Assessment comes to our addresses

OP posts:
panele01 · 20/01/2016 12:41

Correction *address

Don't give them to her.

It is very important that you fill in those documents yourself and do not allow her to do it as if she does them wrong you will be held legally responsible.

panele01 · 20/01/2016 12:43

She works Monday to Saturday,Monday to Friday, she works from the morning until the evening, different hours in the evening comes home, around 18pm,17pm different hours, most of the time she is out

OP posts:
panele01 · 20/01/2016 12:45

Hmmmmmmm.......if i won't give it to her,she will go suspicious,i am telling you my mother is sick in her head seriously

OP posts:
Offred · 20/01/2016 12:49

I think HMRC have more real power over you.

Let her be suspicious. Your tax returns are nothing to do with her and she has no right to see letters or be involved with the process.

panele01 · 20/01/2016 13:01

Yes,its true, she already has registered me with Self Assesment, she is nearly there the only thing, she needs is P60 from my Employer,Temporary Agency for which i have worked last year before sexual assault, that was the last and only employer, after that i haven't worked anywhere......hmmmmmm

OP posts:
Offred · 20/01/2016 13:05

She may be pretending to be you though when she is doing this.

panele01 · 20/01/2016 13:15

She could/might be,all she is doing is trying to help me,shall i take copies of all the letters that she has related/connected with Self Assesment,HMRevenue,Tax Return ect and keep it to myself secretively? If i take what she has,she will go mad, insane, angry ect looking for it.........hmmmmm

OP posts:
Offred · 20/01/2016 13:21

I'm not sure.

You need to be careful that she doesn't submit the wrong information because that will get you in trouble.

You will have to sign the paperwork before she sends it so maybe make sure you check it all through properly before you sign.

You can go and claim benefits now, and to the council for housing, just don't tell her you are.

panele01 · 20/01/2016 13:26

Ok, i will, dear, thank you very much,i hope she won't get me into trouble, i hope she knows what she is doing,if she does get me into trouble,i can tell to benefit people/HMRevenue ect that it was my mother........hmmmmmm,i don't have a point of lying, just tell them the truth and be honest to them........hmmmm

OP posts:
panele01 · 20/01/2016 13:29

I have spoken to my GP this morning,i have explained my situation about me and my mother, what is happening, everything,i asked for my GP's serious help.......hmmmmmm

OP posts:
Offred · 20/01/2016 13:35

What did the GP suggest?

panele01 · 20/01/2016 13:38

Offred,i am really sorry, dear, but it is confidential, she will get me help....seriously,i am so sorry

OP posts:
Offred · 20/01/2016 13:40

That's ok! You don't need to share more than you are comfortable with!

Did the advice help? Have you got an idea of what you can do going forward? What organisations can help you with getting benefits and a home?

ohdearlord · 20/01/2016 13:45

Do you know about this organisation panele01?

www.citizensadvice.org.uk

Could you make an appointment with them? They could at least help with the financial and administrative side of things I'm sure.

panele01 · 20/01/2016 13:53

Offred,i have an idea, but not completely, the places that i know are: Croydon Council,Job Centre Plus,CAB

OP posts:
ohdearlord · 20/01/2016 13:56

Sorry - have now read the whole thread and see CAB has been suggested more than once!

Panele01 - you've been given some great advice here. There really are people out there who can and will help you. I'm so glad you've been to your GP. Take their advice, and their help. You'll get through this with some hand holding and some help with your self-confidence!

I was a very young mum, and totally on my own in a new country. Your baby will neither know nor care. Listen to all the advice you can, and let people help.
