I'm really white knuckling it tonight. Pah. I guess the novelty has worn off.
I miss the warming feeling in my shoulders. The fuzzy hug it gives you.
I miss having a number 2
I need to remember that I don't miss feeling hungover, I don't miss wasting my money and I don't miss waking up a bloated old mess. Sad

gladistopped · 19/11/2015 20:48

Hang in there dona I wish I had done so! Hugs and take care of your self :)

donajimena · 19/11/2015 20:57

I'm hanging on.. bought some dandelion and burdock tea..mmmm..

Brighit · 19/11/2015 21:16

Can you hide in the bath or bed right now dona? Exactly, picture tomorrow morning feeling hungover and grim, ashamed and disappointed in yourself. As they say you never regret not drinking the night before. Suppositories if nothing else is working? I had to use them after my section because of the codeine I was on.

Struggled today myself. Feeling very low and annoyed that I couldn't blast away those feeling by going out for a run. So I decided to listen to my body and give myself some comfort and nourishment which I think is what I needed. Cooked a big Sunday roast type dinner followed by Ben and Jerry's for dessert. Had silly conversations with the kids, played pillow fights, read them stories and had lots of cuddles. I now feel relaxed and content again. Glad to think if I'd of picked up a bottle tonight probably none of that would have happened.

donajimena · 19/11/2015 21:40

I had the bath at 5pm. But I am over 'it' now. I'm a celebrity is taking my mind off things. But on any of my last feeble attempts I would have given in so I'm proud. Smile
Your evening sounds lovely brighit
A roast dinner wouldn't have happened I'm sure (in my case anyway)
I'm going to give the lactulose a bash tomorrow. I've got company tonight so daren't Wink

Seabiscotti · 19/11/2015 21:57

Well done glad and doña.

I love a roast dinner. Even more so when it has been cooked by someone else.

JamDaniHash · 19/11/2015 21:59

JamDaniHash · 20/11/2015 06:14

donajimena · 20/11/2015 06:48

Oh Lucy thanks for linking that webinar with Dr Sally Marlow, that was fascinating.

Here if anyone missed it.

ahangoverfreelife.com/2015/11/18/its-different-for-girls/

also interesting post on drink driving. I do NOT miss waking in the night frantically calculating the hours since my last drink and when I would be safe to drive again. Dear Lord please may I always remember those days so I never ever go back to them. Amen.

cheesy I MUST have been over the limit on some occasions doing the school run.
On one occasion I had to walk to the school (faith school 2 miles away) because I was beyond 'borderline' I can remember telling a mum that a friend had popped over and it had got a bit out of hand. It would have been obvious that I was hungover hence the reason for my explanation. Of course there was no friend.
Actually there was three. Ernest, Julio and Gallo

CheesyNachos · 20/11/2015 08:48

I know dona. I have also made excuses about that too...... made up stories about having a pub lunch with a 'friend' for her birthday, for example, which is why I had to pick DS up in the bus. I have also been known to telephone DS's nursery and pretend he was sick because I knew I was going to be still over the limit in the morning and was too afraid to drive.

Bloody awful.

OP posts:
CheesyNachos · 20/11/2015 08:49

I have never admitted the 'pretending DS is sick' thing before to anyone.

donajimena · 20/11/2015 09:01

Its shocking isn't it? As you said in your earlier post let us remember those days....

donajimena · 20/11/2015 09:29

On a somewhat lighter note.. I am somewhat... lighterGrin I am a bit nervous as it's certainly not what I expected after 6 days. I have a busy day. I hope not to be caught short.

3phase · 20/11/2015 13:20

Hi everyone. Quick check in. Dona and Jam....congrats!

Brighit I wish I'd taken a leaf out of your book last night. I was feeling rubbish and ended up having a whopping great row with DH. You made significantly better choices..

I think sick baby has given me her bug so we're crawling into bed with a mug of Lemsip and a bottle of Calpol-laced milk this afternoon Confused

CheesyNachos · 20/11/2015 13:29

Feel better 3phase.

Poas this morning and negative. Dr's appt made for next week.

donajimena · 20/11/2015 17:03

3phase I hope you feel better soon.
sea is that a relief? I guess it's still a worry if you don't know what's wrong.
well... its Friday night. This is what used to be party night for me. Every night was party night but Friday was a 2 bottle night.
I'd get home from work/school run and pour a glass make tea and put some music on...
I was thinking in a wistful way today I wouldn't mind having a fri party night. But the reality went like this.
5pm wine. Cook. More wine. 7pm ish I would be probably down one bottle. A quick vodka as it doesn't count. 8pm more wine. Then asleep on sofa until midnight from 9pm onwards. Some party eh?
It was a shit existence. Really really shit.
I'm happier today than I was yesterday but at the moment I look forward to going to bed so that I can wake up hangover free.
I wouldn't say I am enjoying being AF but for today I am glad I am not drinking.

Seabiscotti · 20/11/2015 17:12

Dona, your Friday evenings sound similar to what mine were like. Bottle opened around 5, music on, cooking, more wine etc.
I watch loads of tv now and I have started reading again. Neither of these are associated with wine for me.

I miss it too, but that party feeling doesn't last for long.

To be honest I wasn't upset it was negative, and I think I would have been a mix of happy and scared if positive.

I am not worried at seeing doc as it is probably stress related and the bleeding probably piles. The joys of being the wrong side of 40Sad

donajimena · 20/11/2015 17:30

Yes the party feeling is soon gone. There is nothing nice about waking up red faced with heat eminating from it.
I'm just pondering why people bother with just the one drink. What can you possibly get out of it? I guess we will never know because I suppose the people that can have one drink never experience the craving to keep going until they collapse.

donajimena · 20/11/2015 17:33

I've found a lovely drink by the way. Lemon and ginger soda from Marks and sparks. The ginger gives it a bit of a warming bite. I think I could down that with the same vigour as a glass of red. Great for parties. Supping a coke leaves me cold on nights out.
