Thanks Blush.

CheesyNachos · 17/11/2015 20:36

Yes it settles down. How were your innards while drinking? i had almost constant diarrhoea when drinking, and then it went the other way when I stopped.

Ahhh...... the things we are revealing on this thread!!!!!

Not sure JamHmm

dona, my intestines have been more regular so to speak since cutting out alcohol. Prunes are supposed to be fab.

donajimena · 17/11/2015 20:43

Well, 630 am I had to dash at the speed of Usain Bolt! Regular as clockwork... not quite the runs (apart from me doing the running)

tsonlyme · 17/11/2015 20:48

Jam you drank whilst taking Antabuse?!! Blimey, that's hardcore. I tested it once, instant screaming headache, palpitations, anxiety and most bizarrely the whites of my eyes went BRIGHT red Shock. I thought for a couple of hours that I was going to have to go to A&E (didn't because I was too embarrassed at what I'd done Confused ). I think I drank the equivalent of a glass of wine.

Did it not have that effect on you?

donajimena · 17/11/2015 21:31

An old boyfriend of mine drank on antacid and his eyes went red!

donajimena · 17/11/2015 21:32

Antabuse not Rennie. Can you tell I have a new phone?

JamDaniHash · 17/11/2015 21:57

Maybe I was on a lower dose tsonly. Yes to palpitations, headache and red eyes, but not severe enough to put me off.

I've just been rifling through the bathroom cabinet in search of Senokot, but nothing. Last time I went was on Sat, my face was like this Angry and then Grin

donajimena · 17/11/2015 22:00

Ha ha! Twice in 7 days me..looking forward to the Grin but currently Shock and Sad

JamDaniHash · 18/11/2015 06:07

Sorry Sea

3phase · 18/11/2015 06:17

I drank on Antabuse too, years ago. Same as Jam - felt a bit flushed, went bright red and got a headache but not much more. I didn't drink a lot though, gingerly sipped my way through a beer if I remember correctly. I was always going to - I just have to learn the hard way.....

Don't know if anyone else is having mulled wine cravings but I'm making do with Teabags 'winter spiced red tea' - they're lovely and are doing a good job of satisfying my "4:30pm it's dark and cold outside plus it's nearly Christmas' cravings....

Hope everyone had a decent night. I had DD2 in my bed as her breathing wasn't scaring me last night but actually we didn't do too badly and I feel pretty good this morning. Day 10!

3phase · 18/11/2015 06:18

*was scaring me!

CheesyNachos · 18/11/2015 06:26

Morning all. :) Hope DD2 better very very soon 3phase. Day 10!!! Double figures!!

I drink Belvoir winter punch 3 for that mulled wine feeling. It isn't cheap though. (Well, I can only get it at Waitrose round here, but I think Tesco stocks it too).

www.belvoirfruitfarms.co.uk/shop/mulled-winter-punch

I tend to mix it with water though because although 'back in the day' I would have not thought anything about drinking my way through a £3 bottle of wine (and probably congratulated myself for being frugal!) I draw the line at drinking a £3 cordial in an evening!! Grin Drinker's thinking heh?!

Thanks for the gold start Lucy. [pats self on back]. The biggest shock was finally realising that I really can't play around with this sobriety thing.... I am addicted and alcohol is going to kill me sooner rather than later if I carry on. Huge thing. Scary thing. But at least it's sunk in now. (ahem - denial anyone?)

CheesyNachos · 18/11/2015 06:27

I am going to try the spiced tea ... they sound good and I LOVE herbal teas. Thanks for the heads up.

OP posts:
3phase · 18/11/2015 06:39

And I will try the punch! Thank you.

Lucy2610 · 18/11/2015 08:48

Cheesy I absolutely get it, felt the same & could have written what you wrote. Denial is such a powerful thing and only after my accidental swig did I really get it & I've been bloody sober for over 2 years now!! Blush That's what made Ellie's relapse on The Bubble Hour that Teapot talked about so powerful - we think we're in control but actually for us the booze is as soon as we put it in our system. Never underestimate addiction as it will school you every time Grin Slow learners eh? Wink

Lucy2610 · 18/11/2015 08:51

PS I second the love of Belvoir's (pronounced Beaver's apparently) winter punch as a decent substitute for mulled wine :)

tsonlyme · 18/11/2015 09:01

Beavers?! Hehe

'Would you like a taste of my beaver?
After I've rimmed this bottle, dear'

Said the actress to the bishop.

Umpteen · 18/11/2015 09:35

Grin Tsonly

Umpteen · 18/11/2015 09:45

I'm in a coffee bar in the airport listening to this Bubble Hour podcast about relapse triggers. I do this journey a few times a year and it is a HUGE trigger for me. Drinking on the way to the airport, in the bar there, on the plane etc etc. You get the idea. Today though, not drinking! I drank a Fentiman's ginger beer before I left home where usually I would have had a stiff drink or three. I have fudge and nuts in my bag ( Tsonly can make a joke out of those I bet!) to combat hunger triggers. So, wish me luck chaps!

I owe it to myself and my family NOT to drink. Day 62.

Regarding constipation in sobriety, yep, me too! Blush I have been trying to drink loads of water plus veggy juice like V8 and it seems to be OK now.

Seabiscotti · 18/11/2015 11:08

Tsonly Grin

I want to get my hands on some Belvoir honey, lemon and ginger but I can't find it anywhere Sad

Still feel nauseous. I was sick Saturday night, so I am wondering if I have a mild tummy bug lingering. I am not sure how I feel about the alternative Confused

CheesyNachos · 18/11/2015 11:13

tsonly Grin

Fudge and nuts. [snigger]

Hope you are okay Sea ..... you have been a but unwell for a while though yes? Maybe time for a GP visit?

[whispers... POAS!! POAS!!!! ]

Hope you are okay. Thanks

True Cheesy, though that was a chest and sinus infection which cleared up after antibiotics. I will go to GP next week if it continues, but I will poas first. When you are female it is the first thing they always ask anyway.

Hope all is well with you Cheesy. Are you still hitting the gym every day?

Seabiscotti · 18/11/2015 11:28

True Cheesy, though that was a chest and sinus infection which cleared up after antibiotics.

Will go to GP next week if it doesn't go, though I will take a test first, if only because it is always the first thing they ask.

How are things with you? Are you still hitting the gym like a demon?

CheesyNachos · 18/11/2015 11:37

Hi Sea thanks, things okay here. I am trying to get to the gym every day- but life keeps getting in my way!! I am averaging about 3 times a week though which hopefully is better than nothing!!!!!
