Shouted after me as i walked into a changing room cubicle that "Those clothes had BETTER come out on the clothes hanger" and then kissed her teeth.

Was I unreasonable to leave my clothes on the floor then swan out like a badass and simply saying "ciao".

I know it's sad and petty but I really enjoyed my coffee shortly after.

Cross post, sorry! ---- Grin

sugarquill · 19/09/2014 18:09

"I beg your pardon?"

Followed by asking to see the manager and pointing out the appalling customer service, and threatening to diss them on Twitter, might have got you a money voucher Grin

But I think I prefer OP's method!

LineRunner · 19/09/2014 18:09

If you mean tutting, why not just fucking say that?

Tinytillytot · 19/09/2014 18:11

It wasn't tutting. She kissed her teeth. Confused crazy!

OP posts:
DontDrinkAndFacebook · 19/09/2014 18:12

Line it's not tutting! It's distinctly different!

Travelledtheworld · 19/09/2014 18:17

You going to tell us where this was so we can all go and do the same ?

MrsWinnibago · 19/09/2014 18:17

Line why so aggressive!? Tutting is not the same as kissing teeth.

LynetteScavo · 19/09/2014 18:21

You sound as bad as each other.

Not sure what the world is coming to!

Bizarre. How some people live !

Tinytillytot · 19/09/2014 18:23

It was topshop. Serves me right for trying to be young and hip

Jeanne RTFT.

Tinytillytot · 19/09/2014 18:26

Anyway was meant to be lighthearted in aibu. "Not sure what the world is coming to" - bit dramatic Smile

OP posts:
JeanneDeMontbaston · 19/09/2014 18:26

I have read it, itsfab.

The comment about relationships was only intended as a joke. I don't really think the OP meant her 'kissing teeth' reference to start off such a big debate about different customs of expressing disapproval, is all!

Sorry it wasn't funny enough for you.

ethelb · 19/09/2014 18:26

Gosh people on here are very white aren't they!

handfulofcottonbuds · 19/09/2014 18:27

How has a post about poor customer service turned into a race issue? Confused

JeanneDeMontbaston · 19/09/2014 18:27

Though, who knows, perhaps I spoke too soon ...! Grin

I kiss my teeth, apparently. I'm white, and had no idea it wasn't tutting, but I'm told not.

So there we go.

What is tutting, if it's not that?

treaclesoda · 19/09/2014 18:30

ethelb do you mean very white for not knowing what teeth kissing is?

Guilty as charged. I don't know anyone from a Caribbean background (which is how it was explained to me upthread) so I was unaware of the whole concept of teeth kissing.

Itsfab · 19/09/2014 18:30

ethelb Hmm

Mintyy · 19/09/2014 18:34

Yes, it's pretty white to not know what teeth kissing is. I find it quite shocking in this day and age, tbh - I forget that people live in places where there are no black people.

What I tend to do, when in doubt about something that I feel I maybe ought to know, is google. Tis brilliant for filling in little gaps in one's knowledge.

PitchSlapped · 19/09/2014 18:34

Teeth kissing is not the same as tutting at all so the op didnt have to "fucking say" it was.

ethelb · 19/09/2014 18:35

@treacle basically yes.

When I was at school (20 years ago) the black children used to suck their teeth at the teachers as the teachers didn't know what it meant. They learned very quickly. 20 YEARS AGO!

The Guardian even ran a pseudo intellectual piece on teeth sucking being an interesting cultural phenomenon a while back.

You don't have to be black to suck your teeth. I hear white/asian etc people doing it a lot now (unlike 20 years ago admittedly).

PenisesAreNotPink · 19/09/2014 18:36

I was kind of joking, hence the grin

But it is a bit scumbaggy to leave clothes on the floor

Really you should have complained to the manager

treaclesoda · 19/09/2014 18:38

Mintyy I'm guessing that you're being sarcastic about people living in places with no black people, but I can assure you that I do. I can't help it, it's just how it is in my area.

I didn't see any point in googling when I didn't know it was 'a thing'. I thought it was just the OP's turn of phrase, her description.

LineRunner · 19/09/2014 18:38

OP said that kissing teeth was like 'tutting' really loudly.

Sorry.
