i would give my dh a solid 7, he changes nappies, feeds them, bathes them and plays and cuddles with, thinks of things they would like to do and organises it for them
he can cook, he does the dishwasher and can work the washing machine
he doesn't think it women's work and he understands that I go loopy when pregnant and puts up with

howevr at the mo he is struggling with all of this as is depressed but as yet has not seeked help [sad[ I trust that soon he will realise himself and do something about it

  1. but then he has just left me!

he was a great dad for the first week or so, but the novelty must have worn off now..! only 10 weeks old.

i feel bad for only giving him a 7 now

he has always bee fab, working far too hard in the navy and now he's coming out, working hard to set up his own business. he wasn't there for the birth of dd1 but onlt cause he was on a submarine and he was fab at dd2's birth and he will be fab again at dc3's birth

Moppi · 17/09/2006 09:59

My dp is a 1 or maybe 2 as a partner, but as a dad i'd say a 7 or 8!

koshka1984 · 17/09/2006 09:59

kama yeah i have one in lone parents. but it doesnt matter...just thought id lower the average a bit...!
it isnt cos of him being a dad that he left tho

WideWebWitch · 17/09/2006 10:01

10
ds is nearly 9 and I have been with dh since he was 2 (ex dh is ds's father)
our dd is nearly 3
We've been together 6 years, he's been brilliant all of that

jessicaandrebeccasdaddy · 17/09/2006 10:03

can i give myself 9/10?

i cook, clean look after the girls, change them.

i do what i can whenever im not working. and i do it without prompting

i love JARM lots too, but i could probably do more to show it but i dont know how, any ideas?

WideWebWitch · 17/09/2006 10:04

Oh and I'm judging dh on
Being a sahd for 8 months
looking after both childen alone while working ft oth when I worked away from home during the week. We did this for 6 months
Taking equal responsibility for childcare/house stuff/our lives
knowing about our children just as much if not more than I do, i.e. he gets yu gi oh

jessicaandrebeccasdaddy · 17/09/2006 10:04

dd1 is 2 and dd2 is 11 months

i was going to say one, but he isnt so useless a tosser as to leave me alone with a 10 week old.
so itll have to be a 3 or 4.

trinityshiftingherleatheryarse · 17/09/2006 10:13

I know

I just thought noone would put 10

TearingMyHairOut · 17/09/2006 10:13

With regards to changing as they get older, I was wondering if as tiny babies who just eat, sleep, cry and stuff the rewards are a bit lacking and whether as they start to become more responsive/ give more back, partners become more interested. I'm at home with 10 week old and dh works full time but seems like he needs to chillout when he gets home rather than spend time with ds for an hour or so. I do all night feeds and pretty much all house stuuf, making bottles, washing etc. Is this normal because I'm the one at home or should I be expecting more of him?

JARD - you sound like a definate 9/10. I'm sure JARM appreciates you very much. There's nothing like seeing your hubby be a good dad to make you love him! Do you spend much time just two of you? Can you ever get out for a meal or even in for a nice meal with kids in bed?

jessicaandrebeccasdaddy · 17/09/2006 10:17

tearingmyhairout - i have always done the night feeds etc.. because JARM was at home with Dd's all day that was here break, and i rested while i was at work !
