Hello, I'm Mouse :)

Welcome to the thread, or our mythical Bus called Gerald! Grin

There is room for everyone. Always

There is help for everyone who wants it. Always

There is unconditional support and kindness. Always

We have two sentences that we believe in here -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

No matter what it is that you drink, how much, how often, we've ALL been in your position at one point or another...... so most of us WILL know exactly what it's like to be YOU

If you'd like to read the last thread, it's below -

THIS IS THE PREVIOUS THREAD

And if you want to read a pretty sobering thread and the history behind these many, the reason why we are all here, fighting to stay/get sober is here -

FIRST EVER BRAVE BABES THREAD

Hope to see you soon :)

Welcome back green, hope your ok

Day 2, had half a bottle of wine and a lager last week. If I drank like that every week I'd be happy. I think it's getting easier but that's massively helped by H not buying wine, if it's there it's another story...

I've had a friend visiting so my days have been pretty busy, it's daft but for all I'm enjoying the company I'm anxious that I'm not keeping on top of the housework. I swear I look for things to stress over!

lookingforhope · 11/08/2014 10:41

Morning all. Well, I just survived Spanna, IKEA is monstrous. I can't begin to tell you the catalogue of customer service failures, confusion, frustration and disaster. I finally ordered something which I hope will be a wardrobe set, desk and chair for dd but christ knows what will arrive later. And one bit of the wardrobe is out of stock so have to send wb back for it on Friday. D'aaargh. Did have one amusing moment though as I stood at the delivery desk. The bloke asked 'are there any complications to your property - narrow steps, guard dogs and so on?' I said, 'Well, my husband is very grumpy' and the woman behind me in the queue burst out laughing. I have been assured they don't charge extra for that though. Probably don't want to add insult to injury!

My plans for today are cancelled due to weather (and wimpy friend I have to say - I go out in blizzards, but maybe I have more of a vested interest in leaving the house) so am having a lie in then going to help dd sort her room and then go out to lovely friend's house for a brew.

Organised sleepovers for dd tonight and tomorrow and went to tell WB the details and he just rolled his eyes and said 'I'm WORKING' - even though the sleepover on Tuesday night / Weds is for his benefit as I am out with ds Tuesday PM and working Wednesday. So I am going to send him an email with the details on in a minute (he is in the next room, haha) Twunt.

After my trauma induced not eating last week I lost 4lb and have put them all back on this morning due to birthday cake eating festival. Am toying with doing Slimming World. I prefer low carb eating but the thing with that is that it is so unforgiving - if you eat one carby thing you have blown it. (was on a support thread here, and they were wonderful cheerleaders but so strict about cheating that I was too scared to post in the end! Not criticising them at all, I liked them all but it made me feel even more of a failure if I had so much as a ryvita!)

Did SW when dd was born and lost about 21lb over five months (then went off it at Xmas as there weren't enough syns in the world for my red wine). I thought I could avoid the processed crap like mugshots and do mainly original days which are lower carb, then if I do have the odd bit of birthday cake or something I can syn it so that I won't have blown it, and won't press the f*ck it button and binge for a week before starting again on a Monday. Like I do with wine. D'aaaagh

Also am going to start the SMART programme tonight. Think my issues are deeper than the day to day and am going to work through them. It is you lot that have given me the strength to do this, so a million, million thank yous. Thanks Thanks Thanks

Anne you are doing so well - congratulations, and also can you come and help me with my housework? I find I barely care at all about housework. The hoover broke last week and I've still not done anything about replacing it Blush

Wry I have an image of you now as a lovely outdoorsy lady in a barbour jacket and hunter wellies, touring county shows with the labs. I would have loved that lifestyle I think. Stuck in the city, me.

Baby how are you my lovely?

Spanna hope your friend is OK today - I am sure your support means the world to her. And am driving myself mad wondering who your DJ is!!! So impressed you were a record buyer, you literally rock! (now imaging you as Suzi Quatro in leather gear! And no, I am not implying that either of us is that old... I was about 6 when she was popular, and really wanted leather trousers but they didn't make them to fit 6 year olds and my mum would have vetoed them if they had!)

Guggs, how is the family visit going??? Please buy them non-alcoholic wine as someone suggested up-thread. Just for the comedy value. Please!!!!

Sobersoc, Mouse, Joey, Marfisa, Littlewhite and anyone I have inadvertently missed (typing faster and faster now as laptop about to run out of charge!!!) - big hugs to you all and Happy Monday.

Anneisnotmyname · 11/08/2014 11:11

hope I wouldn't care half as much about mine if I didn't have a mum who constantly pulls me up on it. Literally the first words out of her mouth when she cones round are a criticism about the house. Made all the worse as I have a h who won't lift a finger! She knows this, knows I can't keep on top of it all but she'll never say 'oh leave it till the kids are back at school'. Far from it, she looks after the dds in my home for about an hour and has made it very clear that it's disrespectful to her if the house isn't spotless Hmm

aliasjoey · 11/08/2014 11:51

looking oh that made me laugh - Ikea charging for grumpy husbands! (I wouldn't have enough to cover the charges!)

What are you doing on the Smart programme? I got up the courage to attend one of the meetings - went there and everything - but when I got there nobody seemed to be around and I never got the guts to go back Blush

lookingforhope · 11/08/2014 12:20

Guggs I joined online. They have videos to watch and I think you can work through an online programme. I am watching the stuff tonight so will let you know how I get on.

Anne poor you, as if you don't have enough to do. That makes about 3 hours work cleaning for every hour freed up by her babysitting (more if it were my house!) My mum used to discreetly tidy stuff sometimes but she was fairly relaxed about my mess. When I was a kid she valued education and cooking lovely food above all so if I ever wanted to not be asked to tidy my room I picked up a book as she never bothered me if I was reading, haha Grin. Problem is I never got out of the habit so am often found nose in a book as the washing piles up!

Right am off for a jog now, have only been putting it off for 3 hours.... wish me luck babes....

lookingforhope · 11/08/2014 12:21

Sorry, Joey not Guggs. D'aaaagh, I am preoccupied with looking for my trainers, do excuse me lovely Joey

spanna41 · 11/08/2014 14:59

venusandmars · 11/08/2014 15:59

IKEA - oh god! I once had a panic attack there - I couldn't work how I could get out, I was completely disorientated, and I got into a real state! I didn't know whether to follow the footsteps or just run.... it was really horrible.

venusandmars · 11/08/2014 17:42

hello ....

venusandmars · 11/08/2014 17:47

Hello.... (faint echo)... hello

venusandmars · 11/08/2014 17:50

spanna41 · 11/08/2014 19:13

How are you lovely, what you been up to today?

aliasjoey · 11/08/2014 19:36

Hello venus why are you sitting in a corner, rocking and talking to yourself?!

dementedma · 11/08/2014 19:54

Venus wassup?

venusandmars · 11/08/2014 20:27

I'm fine. It was just one of those days when I posted and then no-one was around for a couple of hours. It was sort of empty and echo-ey here on the bus Smile

dementedma · 11/08/2014 20:29

Whew. Can't have our wise woman having a wobble!

lookingforhope · 11/08/2014 21:17

Hi Venus! Think we must have been at the service station on a loo break (and stocking up on opal fruits from the retro sweet shop) when you arrived! Can we see about getting a bathroom installed?

Mouseface · 11/08/2014 22:37

Good evening, tis me, Mouse

Sorry to not go back and catch up with you all... it's been madness here as poor Nemo has had a horrific wound for the last few days thanks to his tape and his tube, plus the addition of sweat, thanks to summer.

It's much better tonight with a soothing bath and newly placed tape on the other side to make sure we don't have a repeat! Poor little chap.

Life is good here, apart from my damn hip, I have to call the physio dept, even though they have known me for 6 yrs, to make a new appt to 'see someone' Hmm

My morphine patches are working and doing really well, I have to put a piece of tubigrip over the patch as they heat and my sweating (menopause menopause menopause - sung in a football stylee chant! Grin) means that they come off at the edges and peel off very easily.

So, I shall bid you all a goodnight and hope that you are safe wherever you are this evening.

Lots of love, Mousey xox

Hey lovely Mouse so great to hear from you. And when are we going to be graced with an up-to-date photo of the little fish himself? He is sooooo gorgeous. How is he getting on at school?

Now, babes I don't want to alarm you but I have discovered Skittles. They taste just like the elusive opal fruits but are smaller and therefore there are more of them.

Lots and lots of green ones.

Taste the rainbow my arse, all we care for are the greeeeeeeen ones...

Justpickone · 12/08/2014 04:18

Hi don't suppose any babes are awake?

spanna41 · 12/08/2014 05:38

Just babe I'm awake, you ok? x

dementedma · 12/08/2014 06:38

greeneyed · 12/08/2014 08:50

Thank you babes. Will crawl out of duvet at some point. Day 3

babyjane1 · 12/08/2014 09:02

Good morning babes, been a bit crazy here getting kids organised for scho

babyjane1 · 12/08/2014 09:34

School and nursery. It's very silly of me but I'm feeling so anxious about having so much time on my own, quite pathetic in the grand scheme of things but at the height of my breakdown happened while I was on my own. Anyway I'm throwing myself into SW, wore some old trousers yesterday and spent the day with the waistband digging in my waist like barbed wire!!! So I'm off to the gym and SW tonight, I will be fabulous with swishy hair and dewy skin, even if it kills me, love to all xx
