DCs went on holiday (abroad) with soon to be ex H, supposed to be back y'day - no sign.

early stages of divorce.

The 3yo hasn't ever spent a night away from me. they were supposed to be back y'day. h phoned today to say it will be sunday. he said he'd told me when they left - he didn't, in fact he said they would travel thursday, be back following thursday.

he is playing games & was being very 'oh, dear, did you forget I told you it would be sunday?'

he has made threats in the past to take them away.

I have phoned the police (101) to log it. they said phone back on sunday if no sign & think about getting a court order.

he thinks it's funny & was being patronising & sarcastic on the phone, he finished the call by saying how lovely it was to talk to me. he is doing what he knows will hurt me the most.

Did I do the right thing calling the police. h is emotionally abusive & i often doubt how I feel/think/react.

Thanks for any advice.

So they have supposedly been en route home for 24 hours? Is that right?

Cerisier · 13/04/2014 11:17

Keeping fingers crossed for you that they are home very soon xx

VivaLeBeaver · 13/04/2014 11:20

Hope they're back soon. Your ex is a total arse.

TanteRose · 13/04/2014 11:21

Nightmare situation

Thinking of you OP

MaryWestmacott · 13/04/2014 11:30

It's 11:30 - if they aren't back yet and you are still getting an international dialing tone, call the police and tell them this.

Also add the advice to meet him in the street, take your DS from him outside the house and not let him in again is good.

As tempting as it will be to shout at him or tell him you're only going to allow supervised contact from now on (a must given this performance!), don't, he thinks now he's "won" over this, let him enjoy his victory, the reality of what he's lost in the long term will occur to him soon enough, you don't need to give him fair warning.

fideline · 13/04/2014 11:30

Traffic around London is snarled up due to the marathon. Hopefully that is relevant to the OP and explains any delay.

ThePigOfHappiness · 13/04/2014 11:31

Op, I'm thinking of you.
Hope you have your dc in your arms very shortly Thanks

Friedbrain · 13/04/2014 11:32

When u talk to him, don't mention the police and be calm with him.

U don't want to anger him

Driveway · 13/04/2014 11:34

Your ex is being a prick but don't panic. It won't help you.
He only said Sunday did he? It might be part of his game to arrive at yours at ten to midnight or something.
What a horrid man. :(

ilovemonstersInc · 13/04/2014 11:37

Eyelet · 13/04/2014 11:59

maxybrown · 13/04/2014 12:35

Hope they are back with you now OP

tribpot · 13/04/2014 13:33

I think OP would have posted if they weren't back, so I'm taking this as good news. Fingers and toes crossed.

januarycat · 13/04/2014 13:39

I have to get a court order before the police will act. They can't do anything until then. I explained EVERYTHING.

Still internat dial tone

The midday deadline set by police as h said they would be back early this am

januarycat · 13/04/2014 13:42

The original arrangemts were for them to be back thursday just gone.

Lweji · 13/04/2014 13:43

I do think there should be some fast action. I'd worry he used this time to take them across the world.
I hope you can get the order asap.

tribpot · 13/04/2014 13:44

Oh god. Can that be right, januarycat? I guess if he has PR and hasn't exceeded the 28 day limit or whatever it is.

I found this by Googling, is it worth contacting the charity mentioned, Reunite? Unfortunately I'd be very surprised if there was anyone answering the phone today.

I really hope there's someone you can speak to today, this is a dreadful situation.
