Thanks OneDay. I'm thinking ginger cake with rum buttercream icing.

How does that sound?

FolkGirl · 05/02/2014 15:33

I think a nice sweet card is a lovely idea, but I know what you mean about the cards being too lovey-dovey or just full of crass innuendos.

MadeMan · 05/02/2014 16:44

"How does that sound?"

That depends on what sea shanty you'll be singing after all that rum buttercream.

TheCrow · 05/02/2014 16:55

SoftKitty I know, I would normally NEXT, but think I'm holding on because there is no next, just feeling lonely and it's nice to have someone who you think likes you. I'm pathetic I know Sad Had a really awful day today and wish there was some nice guy who I could bore with it! I'm not going to video message that POF guy, something doesn't sit right about the whole thing and would probably regret it afterwards anyway. Being alone is a lot harder than I thought.

I'm being cheered up by all the interior decoration and dress shopping talk though! We need a Mumsnet bedroom Pinterest board for people to post up pictures ;)

GreenRedBlueYellowPurple · 05/02/2014 16:57

Yeah it's AWFUL feeling so lonely!

MadeMan · 05/02/2014 17:04

"I'm not going to video message that POF guy."

Good, don't do it, video messaging is for Big Brother applicants only.

TheCrow · 05/02/2014 17:09

I know an excellent sea shanty! It goes like this...

^II woke up this morning,
The sea was still there,
And so was the sky!
The sea, the sky, the sea, the sky...^

Grin

Decided that instead of being bitter on Valentines, I'm going to get heart candies and hand them out to people working in banks, the betting shop etc, smile at strangers in the street, then go out with my partner in crime from work as my date in my amazing dress. She is effortless in her pulling prowess so eill tell to approach people with cute friends.

FolkGirl · 05/02/2014 17:31

A sea shanty! I hadn't thought of that...

FolkGirl · 05/02/2014 17:33

I'm going to do a trial run on the cake. It can be a bit tricky because of the shape of it. I won't put rum in the buttercream though and then the children can eat it.

FolkGirl · 05/02/2014 17:34

Crow I really hope you do do that!

girliefriend · 05/02/2014 19:49

Hello all blimey this thread moves at a rate of knots!! Well have had an interesting day dodging the floods (live down summmmmerset way) waiting for smallfeet to come over, I am looking forward to seeing him but still get stupidly nervous Confused is that normal 3 months in?!

softkitty what are you nervous about discussing with him Wink

Smallfeet has suggested for V day, him taking the day off work (I don't work Fridays) going out to the beach or somewhere nice for a walk in the day. Then going out for dinner or something in the evening, I might suggest going over to his actually as he always has to come here in the evening because of dd.

Talking of which am thinking of the two of them meeting in the next few weeks. Any suggestions on the best way to approach this?

GreenRedBlueYellowPurple · 05/02/2014 20:05

Girliefriend I'm trying not to be jealous but it's not working! Walk on beach & dinner sounds really nice :-)

GreenRedBlueYellowPurple · 05/02/2014 20:09

Ugh god is it ok to pull out of this date on Friday because of feeling a mess, having put on weight since Christmas, having a difficult morning on Friday morning (there may be tears!)...

Not to mention that this guy (the one I spoke to today on phone) is probably shorter than me?

GreenRedBlueYellowPurple · 05/02/2014 20:09

Not to mention the stress of deciding what to wear etc?

GreenRedBlueYellowPurple · 05/02/2014 20:11

You can tell I'm not fit for dating can't you? Lol. Well he only moved to the country a few days ago so...

It was nice talking to him on the phone. Well... A bit awkward and I think I ballsed it up being so nervous. Ah...

girliefriend · 05/02/2014 20:15

green no its not o.kay Grin

girliefriend · 05/02/2014 20:16

Smallfeet is shorter than me so don't rule him out because of his height, afterall he can't really help that can he?!!

TheCrow · 05/02/2014 20:33

Green Friday is a long way away yet, your mood might change between now and then! Part of the fun is deciding what to wear, and I'm currently living my dating life through all of you, so you have to go so I have something to read about and be jealous of ;)

Had a realisation earlier, had a run-in with my STBXH when I was collecting some of my stuff from his, he said some pretty awful things and called me some horrible names. Later when I went back for some more stuff, he said he was sorry and he was stressed because his family were having a go at him about his house having my stuff in it, and I pretty much just went 'ok' and didn't get angry, and next time I see him I'll be ok with him Hmm I'm sensing a bit of a pattern emerging here which I don't really want to admit Sad

MadeMan · 05/02/2014 20:44

@girliefriend Are you sure the beach is safe with all these storms down in the south west? It's not exactly sandcastle and ice lolly weather at the moment. Smile

It probably was tongue in cheek Jarlin. However, if he offers you a Werther's Original from his trouser pocket when you see him, then I'd say it wasn't.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 05/02/2014 21:15

Dear?! He sounds like Michael Winner from those insurance ads. I'd be replying to that effect, too!

LizzieBelle · 05/02/2014 21:57

cynical I work with a lot of men, nd yes everything turns to sex. This is OK with me at work, but wouldn't like it from some guy I hadn't met yet! It just makes me think 'sleazy'...frankly would put me off and I'm no prude. let us know how you get on x

LizzieBelle · 05/02/2014 22:04

Santa blimey, 6 methods on how to get to sleep Hmm maybe a tad controlling...what did you textback?
